History of the Liberal Democratic Union (W.I.P.)

Note: This does not cover RP history, only the region's gameplay history

The Early Days (11 December 2020-4 January 2021)

The Liberal Democratic Union was founded by Ainland on the 11th of December 2020, intended to be a democratic, member-led region. This was not Ainland's first region, however, having previously founded the Social Liberal Union. After being CTE for years, they returned to coup the region's "communist" government, finally going on to found the LDU to not be associated with communism. Some of the first nations to join the LDU were Toni topaz, Chitral, Sjevre, Telenaunum, Oruzia, Information Nation, Erimea and Poland-bavaria.

Chitral immediately began giving ideas for a new government for the region, penning the region's first constitution, and Sjevre was elected Interim Leader only 4 days later. However, the alts of many nations of The Social Liberal Union came over to harass Ainland and the LDU's members, however they left fairly quickly. Not long after, the regional flag was put into place, designed by Nordviska. Despite some changes made to increase quality, this has remained the flag of the LDU to the present day. The first regional map was then completed by Telenaunum. A regional news service was also created, but it only had 2 issues.

The beginnings of the RP were also during this period; there was an Erimean government crisis. This era ended with the first regional elections. Chitral became the President, Sjevre became the Vice President, Poland-bavaria became Home Secretary and Sierland became Foreign Secretary (with Erimea as their deputy). Chitral's first act as President was the creation of the Embassy Policy on the 28th. The election period ended on the 5th of January when Chitral replaced Sjevre as WA delegate. Potenzia joined on the last day of this era.

The Days of Growth (5 January-26 April 2021)

This era began with discussion on whether or not the LDU should have a seperate "roleplay zone" region, as the line between roleplay and gameplay was blurry at this stage. Not long after, the Constitution was officially put in place. On the 9th of January, the LDU reached 100 members after only a month. Something unique about this time is that there were a lot more debates, such as whether or not nations should hold two government roles. These debates helped establish a solid foundation on which the LDU could grow.

Despite the region's growing numbers, the region became less active in the second half of January, as the excitement of the early days died down. However, the region was kept alive by the election of a Speaker of Congress, and a roleplay war between Erimea and Chitral. The election was won by Madrinpoor. Once again, the line between gameplay and roleplay became blurred as Epilepsia wanted Erimea to be kicked from the regional government due to roleplay actions. At the same time, the AA1 virus broke out in the region's roleplay which also helped increase activity.
