"Mleocunese History cannot be separated from the history of the stallion who founded it. Like Atatürk of Turkey, the Father of the Turks; Preventus is the Atatürk of the Mleocunese people, the father of the modern Equestrian nation. Without him where would the Equestrian populace be? Its like the old saying, Cometh the Hour, Cometh the Man."

Prologue

You know, I liked the rain. I used to hate it of course when it downpoured back in Manehatten, but I eventually grew to like it. it was comforting, even in this Faustforsaken ocean, the rain came to comfort me and reminded me of the good days. A release of tension after a build-up. It was nice, it was a constant in existence. Even if our lives were trashed around, nature couldn't be bothered and continued its cycles. Even now, out here nature continued on as if I and Twi weren't running for our lives on our small dingy. I looked around the seas, it was rough. Very rough, the boat rocked up and down. I'd probably have to pay back dad for this, if I ever returned. Looking back, I couldn't see any land, Equestria was long out of sight. But my heart ached for me to return, but the state did not wish me to return, the nation did, however. Maybe one day Faust would let me to return, but for now, I was condemned along with Twilight to be leaving Equestria and its allied states. Condemned to an existence of wandering, without a land to call our own.

"These storms are unnatural," came the comment from my dear wife. I looked at her with a raised eyebrow and looked at the storms in front of us. There were flashes of lightning and the clap of thunders could be heard, the waves got high and splashed against the deck. It seemed like a big storm too, if it weren't for the flashes of red lightning up ahead. It was a mesmerising sight, red and intricate flashes of lightning ingrained themselves in my memories. It was terrifying but beautiful. My grip on the controls was firm as I tried to guide the boat to avoid the storm, but the storm pulled us towards it for the lack of a better word. I heard a shout from Twilight, telling me to pull away, but the ship wouldn't move. I kicked the engine onto full and started to pull it starboard, but it didn't budge, the waves were rough, pushing us more and more towards the storm. It spun the ship around and made everything vulnerable to falling off deck. I could distinctly feel the grip of two hooves on me, seeing that she had grabbed onto me. "Get us out of here Private!"

"What do you think I'm trying to do?!" I shouted back. I looked at the compass and decided it was of no use, spinning around like a madpony. Grabbing the steer, I threw it hard to one side, trying to push it but it failed. The waves got larger and stronger as if something was pulling us towards it. More frantic shouts and I shouted for Twilight to get under deck. For a moment I decided against staying above deck, but I could hear the distinct sound of a sputtering and more thunder. One striking near the boat. In my fear I abandoned my post ran down with Twilight. The thunder got louder and more frequent, the flashes of lightning clear through the few windows of the yacht. I held her close to me as the ship rocked up and down, throwing us against a wall. I feared the worse, this was how we were going to die.

I prayed one last prayer to Faust. Was this how I and her were to perish? Unloved and thrown into the endless sea? I would ponder more I before saw the door to the cabin break and water rushed in, and I knew no more as it rushed over me.

Early Life

Preventus Phelps Eye-Yang was born as Preventus Phelps Eye, in the summer of 978 PLB to Irenius Eye and Sparrow Heart. Born into an unsanctioned marriage between a middle-class family and a noble family meant that Preventus was caught in two worlds. The world of the upper Equestrian aristocracy, which Irenius tried shielding him from, and the lives of the common pony. Irenius was shunned by the aristocracy for forming an "impure breed" of a unicorn and had to maintain his business without the help of most aristocrats in order to continue financing the family's life, allowing Preventus exposure to a third world, the business world of the lower aristocrats. His earliest years would be those of a normal life as he was raised in a loving household, exceeded in history when school eventually came around.

Funnily enough, he would establish friendships with the Bolt family's foremost son, Radien Bolt. This would draw the families a tad closer. Preventus childhood would be more than less, normal. He occasionally got into trouble as he played with Radien, but he was a good kid usually. That was before the death of Sparrow, who died in childbirth of his brother, Tailspin Eye, who was born a cripple, unable to walk nor fly. Preventus would do best to raise him as his father recoiled in disgust, unwilling to raise such a horrible defect. This falling out led to Preventus isolated on the streets of Manehatten, doing his best to work and provide for a younger brother. Eventually getting involved with the local police post-graduation in the local schools to try and survive in the streets of Manehatten. From working odd jobs to an attempt of working in the local supermarket chain. This experience in the downtrodden sectors of the world meant that he knew what it was like to be at the bottom end of the stick. However, after graduating high school, Preventus would switch careers in an... interesting way.

Chapter 2

A poor mare died on the streets that night, you know? Her body had begun to experience discolouration I intially thought, but no that was just the terrible lightning of the city's lights. From what I remember, the first corpse I ran in to had suffered a shot to the head, not a suicide due to the fact the bullet was at the back of her head. I didn't know why she died, but I tried to deduce it. That's when I ran into Fenlock, surprised to see me looking over a corpse. Wondering why a young stallion with a bag of groceries on his bag was looking over the dead body. He took me in, teaching me the tricks of being a detective. He saw potential in me, maybe I did, my flank told me so.

So there I was, learning from a prominent detective on how to solve cases. I got enrolled in the MPD, Manehatten Police Department, and mainly for a time was a patrol detective. You know, investigating your average robbery or break-ins. It was a normal job, got attached with an annoying fella named Clippers who just had the most ridiculous hair cut. It took a year so before I got promoted to Vice. Which included corruption, drug dealings, the usual. If vice was a smell, it'd smelled like an old lady's corpse. You can just know how much rot a pony can create from a single day in Vice. The police department's vice division was more corrupt than a MineLegotiponyian Ministry, so many were leaning towards helping the system of evil it pronounced to destroy. One kick and the whole department would collapse... but I didn't want to. I had fallen in love with Larksong, the Vice Head's daughter, and dated for some time. But the more I looked into it, the more I saw how corrupt it was. It was disgusting. I kicked it down, seventeen police officers including the head were arrested, and with that my badge and any hope of marriage went with it. Damn Shinebadge was spineless to charge the corrupt stallion for it.

Went private after that, Shinebadge's administration hounded me for doing so, but that collapse gave me an ample market to pick cases from. It was barely enough to get by and provide dear old Tailspin. The hospital tried to help, but even then I was just cutting by. I was sure for some time I didn't eat for at most a couple of days just to save on bits. It was hard. Despite the near abundance of cases, I couldn't pay much, and only got by. And with each case another problem disappeared, and less of them paid well. The police department got back on its hooves, and I was back at square one of my privateering journey. Barely holding on... and then... I met her. Sweet, sweet old Twilight.

She was a nice gal that accompanied during a foray into Ponyville. And I trusted her, and vice versa. She was then the Protege of Princess Celestia. A grand alicorn at first which I saw as an idol. A good leader and teacher. And she taught Twilight that I had to admit. And time went on I fell head over hooves for her. A little bit of happiness in my life as I moved Tailspin and me to Ponyville. It was a small little town that had a penchant for attracting trouble, and additionally, it was a small town. Meaning that I had no competition and the rates were significantly lower. Tailspin had fun there, the skies were bluer and had made friends. I made friends. I was happy even if the number of fringe cases popping up across the city and beyond happened. Twilight had friends, and those friends called in favours, and those friend's friends called in favours. From that, I had an expansive web of ponies who I could easily reach to solve their cases for them. Making my job much more productive than sitting around managing files all day.

It's amazing how small of a world it was. Everything at that time seemed to lead back to my father, there were traces of Eye Industry products; I even knew some of the killers. But nope, it was my grandfather. Trying to get me and dad to fight, because he saw me as something to wipe off so he could achieve some sort of 'unicorn supremacy' he always wanted. He dropped off the map, and I had to fight a Faustdamn spirit of chaos to reconnect with my father and finding he plotted with my grandfather to kill my mother. But somewhat enlightening that you could kill a spirit of chaos, really puts into perspective how powerful we are now in comparison to the old days. This basically put me on the map of 'important ponies to pay attention to' for the Equestrian government, and from there I got involved in government politics, and conspiracies... hoo boo, was it a mess. But at last, without them I doubt I'd be as politically savvy as I am now.

Involvement with Royalty

With the defeat of Discord, Preventus was courted by Princess Celestia to be in more politically aligned circles, due to his apparent connections with the fabled seventh element of harmony. Supposed to have been in Ponyville but manipulated by the aforementioned spirit to have his mother killed before the move could take place. He was obviously distraught about being a pawn in a greater game of chess. And this is supposedly where the first inklings of libertarian thought probably fermented in his mind. No one wanted to be manipulated like that, their hopes and desires ignored for a 'greater plan'. But he trudged on serving the Equestrian government and the Princesses' plans. Being present during the Alicorn Council of 1003 PLB, and helping to resolve an attempted coup attempt simply elevated his status of usefulness to the Princesses.

But this didn't mean he had plans of his own, with a direct connection to the highest office in the land, Preventus began trying to convince and form a group of allies in the higher up in the Equestrian Government. Experience from the chaos that was his discharge from the Manehatten Police Department told him that having friends high up was a requirement. But he didn't really need to do anything before being taken in as a personal student to Prince Voidera, husband to Princess Celestia. Seeing this chance as to presumably set up a second base of power in Twilight and Preventus, who would amplify their power during this age of uncertainty and conflict.

He was sent aboard to help restore the legitimate monarchist government to the Snowlands, and overthrow the tyrannical Calavarian tinpot dictator, Solaria. These activities resulted in him establishing foreign connections to the Snowlandian monarch, Snowflake I, and the new Calavarian monarch, Phoniex I. These connections would result in correspondence between these monarchs and Preventus, allowing an exchange of ideas that the three all shared in commonality, which was the fragility of alicorn rule. Despite them being alicorns themselves, there was the fear of becoming their predecessors and Preventus suggested solutions to such, which was the elevation of the common pony. An effort was made to realize the mortal potential to rule alongside their immortal counterparts.

Through the cases that his connections brought him to solve, the more it became apparent how the old system rotted. Those who wanted to rise above and beyond and become alicorns themselves, believing the mortal form would not be enough to rule. This would in turn cause societal decay resulting in no mortal able to reach their full potential lest they were somehow connected to the alicorns or the ruling elite. Additional cases revealed more and more their connections to Adamus Eye, his grandad who was also trying to do the same thing. The more cases he did, the more it revealed the web of lies and a game that he was a part of. He had to outsmart a stallion old and with connections to the tyrants of old, if he were to achieve his dreams of a mortal society standing by side with the alicorns.

Chapter 4

Now, I don't play that much chess, but I've inevitable been pulled into a game of chess against Adamus. Oh how much of a scumbag he was. He wanted to be god over this world.

Ideology

The Ideological doctrines of Preventus is effectively rooted in his experiences, similar to the French Philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau who's Liberal philosophies were based on his experiences. With Preventus' history, it makes sense for him to be a strong advocate for libertarianism. Basing off his experiences and that of Princess-Governor Snowflake and Princess Twilight Sparkle II, he posited that corruption through power is the reason why dictators came about. Thus, power should be regulated in order to prevention the necessary power to cause such corruption. This argument flew directly in the political doctrine of Canterlot and the ruling elite, certainly establishing a rift between the establishment and Preventus. This isolation from the political centre of Equestria would lead to the radicalisation of his political doctrine. This lead to his second argument, stating that something that if one was to earn something, one would be more grateful for it. And he states that unearned rewards would not result in gratefulness. He abstracted this to the concept of power, stating that those who gained power through blood would be more prone to corruption than to those who earned it.

During his stay in the Hippogriffian State, Preventus was introduced to the local Hippogriffian political structure that was later to be applied to the whole state. He admired how well active the local populace was, and would integrate this sight into his political philosophy. Beliving that by devolving power, one can ensure that the populace stays aware of political going ons, and actively prevent the rise of a tyrant. By relegating matters downwards, one can ensure the prevention of a tryant upwards. His political views are also impacted by the political structure of MineLegotia and Equestria, with citizens regulating most internal matters whilst foreign affairs were relegated to the monarch. This, was something he copied, believing that if it worked for the Empire, it must worked for Mleocun.

Personal Life & Personality

Preventus lives his life quietly on the outskirts of the Greater Ponyville Area whenever summer rolls around. It is noted that Preventus follows an erratic schedule. Often jetting back and forth between Manehatten and Ponyville in order to do various tasks. However, this phenomenon is reportedly a recent phenomenon. Ever since his children have moved out of his residence, Preventus has been noted to fill his spare time with more work. Before hand, Preventus would stay notably in the Greater Ponyville Area
