State Religon of Nia's Port

The religion of Nia's Port is a fusion of the astrological religion brought by the ancestors of Darius and the more Hellenistic religion brought by the ancestors of Nia. Over the centuries the concepts of many of the gods brought by both pantheons fused so many often have multiple names or potential depictions. Additionally, the gods are thought to live among the stars and hold sway over people who were born during their time of celestial dominance. There is a strong tradition divination in which the will of the gods is read after imbibing certain sacred foods and studying the stars. Every citizen of Nia's Port pay's a tithe to it's local temple every week, though it is not expected of people to pay much. The temples exist to appease the gods and provide diving services for citizens.

There is also a strong tradition of ancestor worship. Several major holidays are dedicated to celebrating common ancestors among the citizens, the largest being the celebration of Nia the Nation-Mother. Ancestors are often in the prayers of their descendants alongside the gods and major common ancestors hold a spot of reference in the culture almost equal to the gods themselves. It is said that more glorious an ancestor the more strength they lend to their descendants, so many people try to live good lives so that they can better serve their ancestors after death. In spite of their religious community and ancestor worship, Nians tend to be quite individualistic due to their push for personal glory.
