Production of The Meld

Greetings, butterbois of Buttersticks! To commemorate the recently achieved and highly anticipated milestone of being worth over 1.3 trillion melds/year, we’ve deemed it appropriate to share a well-kept secret: how exactly does the meld get made?

It begins with the design of the meld. Bearing the symbol of our glorious leader Liamson, it went through many iterations: beginning with simply his face on a circular disc, but slowly morphing into the design we have today, being a complete anatomy of his body structure, with each meld containing a unique trivia fact about Liamson and being supplied in 5c, 10c, $1, $10 and $100 varieties.

Then the material had to be chosen. Metals were the obvious and initial choice, but due to mass harvesting of raw materials unforeseen circumstances, butter was elected to be the special ingredient in the meld.

However, no plain old butter would do the trick. Thanks to leading scientific research, a stronger form of butter was produced with special 'butter bonds': ones that are only invoked and hardened under intensely cold temperatures. Despite the seemingly ludicrous choice, it actually serves many purposes:

  • It pays tribute to our great leader,

  • The unique production method makes it difficult to counterfeit,

  • The currency provides a delicious snack, and

  • The meld can be easily mass produced in molds.

With this choice made, the rest is rather self-explanatory: the melds are melted into meld molds, then frozen and sent out into the economy. Despite its looks, the meld is an important part of the United States of Buttersticks' economy, and it's easy to say we wouldn't be where we are without it.
