The Rise and Fall (Of Leaders) in "Good Times Era" (Historical Era)

Prelude:

The Good Times Era is often known as the period of time that Aeolist had no conflict within itself or with its neighbors. In 1989 until 2029 (1889 to 1929), the country had seen itself grow both in economic, regional, and global power from its creation only 55 years prior.

The Rise:

The rise came suddenly as the globalization and industrialization of the world had come nearly full circle as Aeolist rose in its power.

Under Drew Iske, the unionization of people have gathered in most industrial cities, pushing for better health safety laws in workplaces for all working people. As such, in 1991, following the Murphy Protests, a protest after Kiera Murphy and other women were killed in a factory accident, had called for legislation. In this time, the Health Safety Act of 1991 was passed, having more regulation of said health issues, like no fire escapes. Alongside this, in 1992, the Second Health Safety Act which standardized more safety laws like proper sanitation, work equipment, and worker compensation. During his second term, the Unionization Act was passed, allowing unions to form with legal benefits such as collective bargaining over wages, benefits, and working conditions for their membership, and on representing their members in disputes with management over violations of contract provisions. Also, the first female Councilwomen has been seen, former President Jesse Fray's wife, Ellie Fray.

Ellie Fray, wife of Jesse Fray, became the first Female President due her campaign for the Equal Pay Bill, and the growth of Pharmaceutical companies such as Henderson Pharmaceutical, the first female run Pharmaceutical company. In early 1998, the Equal Pay Act was passed, banning all wage gap separation between men and women, as well as between races. She also had the first female Vice President, Taylor Gadin, wife of late Adam Gadin (Former President/Passed two years prior).

Due to her unexpected death in Office, Ellie Fray's VP, Taylor Gadin took the Presidency. Continuing, the dreams of former President, Ellie, she vowed to enable women's Pharmaceutical and contraceptives to be cheaper and better for women. As her new VP, President Gadin brought on Natalie Shay, a newcomer to the Democratic Labor Party, and part of the Assembly from 1998 until her progression to VP in 2000. Under President Gadin, in 2001, the Women's Health Act was passed to give financial aid to develop women's health products to be at a cheaper, safer cost.

Not wishing to run for another term, People's Party, leader, Miles J. Morales, had been elected to the Presidency. His term found him in a time where there were threats across the globe of war. Being neutral and isolationist, he was able to keep out Aeolist in the war, being bi-partisan, giving aid to the international war that was occurring. With increased trade across the world, he enacted the Free Trade Act of 2005, allowing port cities to be hubs of commercial traffic for businesses to have tax havens in Aeolist's ports.

In his time, he enacted the Nature Preservation Act in 2006, which saw extensive funding of the National Parks and Province Parks as well. With such, saw increased forms of technology form across the world, like; new steam boats, and trains being created. Alongside the National Parks being famous for their beauty, with newly established parks being set up across the country, the tourism industry boomed.

With such booming success, he was reelected, and as such, pushed for a closer state and religious tie, with a Gregorian Cross being put onto the flag. He had Churches not have to be taxed with the Tax Relief of Religious Institutes Act or TRRIA (tree-uh) in 2009. He also pushed for the growth of Monopolies, especially companies like Martin Motors Company and Dreher Technologies. With his economic plan, the New Economics Growth Plan. This incentivized Big Business, Free Market Capitalism, and lower taxes on the rich. With such, the Tax Cut Act of 2010 was passed.

In his final term, President Morales pushed for and signed off two new economic bills to better relieve the people. With the first bill passed being, the Business Protection Act in 2013 which protected the growth of farmers and small businesses. He also pushed for the Federal Reserve Act in 2013 which brought off Aeolist a little further from being solely reliant on the gold standard. The rest of his third term remained uneventful, but he passed away due to cancer in 2016. Allowing his VP Blake Turner to become President.

The Fall:

Blake Turner the catalyst to the Fall of the Good Times Era, through Executive Acts tried to push for rapid militarization as it was still the height of the Great War. As such, he pushed for Parliament to declare war on Grenemy, an highly nationalized nation at war with allies such as Angelicar and Havanosa, and the conquered nation of Patrie. With Grenemy being conquering over Odo, Patrie, Xianhai, and Sokoku, which created the Axis in 2016. Though he was quickly ousted as President for his military aggression and expansionist policies compared to former President, Morales J. Morales.

As Blake Turner lost the election of 2016, Cody Shrute, a Democratic Labor candidate, had won. With the win, he turned to abolish most of President Morales had done, and decreased business output in the country by over 20 percent. He also put in the Tax Plan of 2017, with such tax rates going up to 75% for the rich. Most people and corporations didn't like his tax increase as most people were losing their wealth.

Cameron Wong, the next President, in his first term was elected in as to bring back more of the People's Party was in hopes as to return to what President Morales had brought it the party to. The first act passed under President Wong was the Tax Plan of 2021 cutting tax rates for all to 20%. As well, his financial plan included less regulations, tariffs, and no minimum wage to benefit big business. During his time, the stock market was founded in Arcport, and was better known as Trade Street as the main office of the stock market is on Trade Street. As well, military involvement in the Great War was passed, and in late 2021, Aeolist was found in the war.

Parliament with 147 to 88 votes in Parliament, where Aeolist, helping it's allies, Angelicar and Patrie in the war against Grenemy. The Draft Act of 2021 was passed and was in effect for 15 years. Rapid military drafting and growth led to by February of 2022, more than 125,000 mean were sent off to fight this war, with reinforcements coming throughout the year. The first, and most deadly battle to take place with Aeolistites, was the infamous Battle of Brume. A battle in which 46,000 Aeolistites died to recapture the city over the course of two months. Despite reinforcements, the actual retaking of Patrie, took about 18 months, with poor strategizing, and lack of communication between leaders and soldiers. As well, spending the year liberating border cities in the country of Tellus, and forming the Allies.

President Wong was elected into office by his second term by rigging the elections in key cities and provinces, especially those host to monopolies like the Dreher-Garcia Corporation, Kuntz & Sons Trading, and Haley Research. These companies paid off electors in the Provinces that have higher seat counts such as Grace Province, Inyo Province, Owens Province, and Helmshire Province. In his second term, Cameron Wong went with most of what businesses told him to do. One was to keep the war going, and second was to allow businesses to have less taxes and pay inspections of factories.

First, the war continued into the late 2020s as Aeolist with help of Angelicar, Patrie, and Latīnum, staged an invasion of Grenemy from the south and west. The Battle of the Berg was an attack by Angelicar and Aeolist in 2025 as to put pressure on the Grenems from the west, losing 11,000 men in the process. This attack broke the Berg Line, a defensive strip along the western part of Grenemy. Alongside Latīnum and Patrie from the south, the Allies were able to push in toward Grenemy, and the Axis capital, of Ebbinghaus. The Great War, now known as the First World War by most historians, ended in 2026, after a decade of fighting. It ended with the capture and surrender of Grenemy due to the fall of it's capital in summer of 2026.

Second, the businesses, with rampant corruption, inflated both the stock market, prices of products, and output to an all time high for two years. As the global economy was seeing an upturn in its economy, it then saw a global economic crash or "End All Crash" occur in 2028. It was also exposed that Cameron Wong had taken his second term through corruptive means, and called for an immediate impeachment. Though, it was too late, as he left office in 2028, leaving his Vice President, Matthew Anderson.

Matthew Anderson, had lost the election due to Cameron Wong's actions, and later Cameron Wong had been pardoned by Matthew Anderson. Though many still protested the pardon given.
