Owners of the oldest restaurant get Medal of the Iris

On Tuesday, Empress Marianne II will endow Kursi Esawashata, the Owner of the Hishwata Restaurant in Cezanne with the Medal of the Iris. Hishwata is 1408 years old, making it the oldest restaurant in the world, and older than the Ulutorian Empire itself.

Located on the Corner of the historic Munjina river and Ruyer's Road in Central Cezanne, the establishment has a pleasant view of the Old Imperial Palace. The Hishwata has mostly remained untouched since its inception and even survived damage during the Battle of Horili Square in 1887, only a block away. As well as the battle the restaurant has seen many historical events taking place in its 10 by 30-meter walls. The organization of the Jawahal Conspiracy in 787 and Uvan Belinopa's declaration of the Socialist Party in 1866 both took part inside its walls.

The Empress has deemed it far too long that the restaurant has gone without recognition of not just its quality, but its importance to Ulutorian history and culture. As such, the Medal of the Iris is to be given, as it is the highest civilian medal in Ulutor. The ceremony will be presented by our streamed affiliates online and on Tv at 1700 hours on Tuesday.

Premier Secretary Artemo and several other high-ranking officials and diplomats traveled to Pepper City, Zambet Fata earlier this week to discuss a number of diplomatic, economic, and defense details between the two nations. The reason is the expiration of the 50-year term of the former Sozkanan-Zambet Fatan Treaty of Friendship and Alliance of 2027. The details of negotiations are currently classified, and will likely be behind closed doors until both parties are ready to sign.

Going into the negotiations, both sides are looking to achieve a few things; Sozkana is looking to modernize its armed forces, obtain a stable, consistent and affordable level of fuel shipments, especially konvoline, and is also looking for a large economic partner to export raw materials to. Zambet Fata, on the other hand, is looking for a market to sell its increasingly advanced consumer goods to, a place to sell its military technology and expertise, and also a partner to import more raw materials to, as the demand of the Zambet Fatan economy is outgrowing the supply of Nedporen's raw materials.

The two are also looking to achieve some joint goals, especially in regards to academia, space, and the International Union.

The negotiations began on Monday and are set to last for the next couple of months or so, but until then both nations have agreed to a cultural exchange program prior, with a Cultural Festival to take place in Pepper City within the week, and it will last a month before switching to Sofzkal for another month. The Festival will include the usual; food, drink, song, dance, etc. Zambet Fatan President Arthur Marariu hopes that the success of the two Cultural Festivals will help bring more to reality.

However, the Festival will include a new addition that will perk the interest of most people: the "Digital Irōgē". The Irōgē is an ancient Donicen (a people of the southern Kolani) tradition that pit two units from separate armies together in various tests. Both the Sozkanan and Zambet Fatan militaries have agreed to host a Digital Irōgē, using a type of full dive VR pioneered by Zambet Fatan company Ricton. The two armies will select units to compete head to head on a virtual battlefield. Whoever wins will take home not only a shiny medal and trophy but also a cash prize of $1 million.

Aoraki News

It couldn’t last forever. The political domination that the Unity Party held over the Imperial Party after the Archipelago War had always been known to be unsustainable. However, through a mix of incompetence and indecisiveness for almost eight years, the Unity Party under the Liberals had proven to the Anthacian people that the best they could do was simply manage the status quo, and did a mediocre job at that. The situation that many predicted could last at least four terms was squandered into a two term string of impotent leadership. A disingenuous peace for eight years over the backdrop of stagnation was becoming more and more distasteful in the eyes of Anthacians. From failed negotiations with Kabiva to Karl Weller’s less-than-spectacular performance in the recent season of GASCAR, the Unity Party was blamed for every shortcoming that the nation had faced in recent memory. But the landing on Braun was the catalyst for the awakening of the Anthacian people. After so many years, Anthacians finally had something to do other than go home from work and sit in front of the television. Anthacians finally had something to be proud of.

And they wanted more.

They expressed as much in the election. Overwhelmingly voting for the party that brought Anthacia back to the stars and to the edge of our solar system, the Imperial Party under the “Warhawk” faction marched to victory. The nation places its future, much to the utter abject horror of Anthacian social progressives, in one man: Henry R. Lowell of Descollines. Descollines is a province infamous for its long-standing traditionalist ways, being viewed as backwards and outdated by many liberals in the nation. The poster-child of Anthacia’s Southern provinces, Descollines symbolizes everything wrong with Anthacia in the eyes of the Liberals, and as the place of the Devil himself in the eyes of the Greens. If Descollines was the place of the Devil, then Prime Minister Lowell is that Devil. The very essence of Descollines flows through him. For the past 8 years, he has risen in prominence, yelling, red-faced, at the administration at every corner, decrying the stagnation of Anthacia experienced under their rule. Endlessly filibustering, dealmaking, and dragging his party, and at times some stray Unity Party Councilors, kicking and screaming towards his vision of the future. How is it that he gets away with it? How is it that he has become the Party’s face rather than its pariah? It is quite simple.

The Anthacian people love him.

To them, he represents a fiery spirit that Anthacians had once thought to be lost in endless mediocrity of the Unity Party’s administration. Notable for relying on small business donations for his campaigns rather than relying on large corporate donations like many of Anthacia’s other Councilors, making him a darling for the average Anthacian, as well as those of the Besichtigung Movement, both of whom played a part in carrying him to victory in the election. During his inauguration speech, Lowell was not afraid to make his position known to the nation and the world. As part of his speech read, “I’ve always been disgusted by the cosmopolitan idiots who sit in their ivory towers and look down on the working man. The very man that provides him the money to drink that 2015 champagne he loves so damn much! The middle-class gets left behind by the coastal elites and they laugh at us for it! Well I say that we’ve had enough. Anthacians know that it’s time to wake up and smell the roses, and they proved that when they elected me! It’s time to stop this nonsense right now! Anthacia is going to be proud of itself again. We got you to the edge of the solar system and we’re not gonna stop there! Right hand to God, I’ll bring about a Golden Age for every true, red-blooded, patriotic Anthacian who loves his King and loves his country! And any sissy liberal elite or journalist who tries to get in my way is gonna get kicked all the way back to his torrie-loving urban jungle!”. Though Anthacia’s cities and more outsourcing-inclined corporations are reeling from their worst nightmare having been elected to the second-highest office in the land, most Anthacians are ecstatic to have a fresh face in politics. Prime Minister Lowell wasted no time in shaping Anthacia in his image, an image the Anthacian people entrusted him with.

Prime Minister Lowell was quick to prove himself. Almost immediately, he went on a spree in government, using the landslide victories the Imperial Party gained in the Ausgleich Council, they passed laws approving higher military spending and more scientific research grants. He was even able to co-operate with the Greens in the Unity Party over healthcare reform, though behind the scenes there were rumors that the Greens and Imperialists were screaming each other’s heads off over a few unknown particulars of the reform bill proposed by Lowell. However, after endless tax reforms and an outpouring of support to local and small businesses, Lowell has begun to look like a savior in the eyes of many. One area Lowell has met small criticism over however, is his subsidies for Zoeller. Lowell justified this in a press conference stating that his crusade isn’t necessarily against big business, however specifically against the megacorporations and monopolies that have begun to plague Anthacia in recent years. In his view, Zoeller does not meet that criteria. Any critics that remained are drowned out by the endless roaring of rockets that hurdle Anthacia’s bravest raumfahrers into space regularly. From supply runs to the International Union’s bases on Luna, to unmanned exploration operations destined for areas past the solar system, the Space Craze in Anthacia is in full swing. The results of this, beyond national pride, are already being felt. Recent advances in medicine and day-to-day objects are beginning to roll off the factory lines and into Anthacian hands. And after the passing of the Ehrmann-Woodland Trade Act, they’re beginning to sprinkle into the hands of the International Union as well.

How does Anthacia pay for all of this, all the while, cutting taxes, you ask? The answer lies within the Ehrmann-Woodland Trade Act. The Ehrmann-Woodland Trade Act has brought about a new era of economic co-operation within the International Union. Prime Minister Oakford’s “ever-closer” policy towards the alliance made it possible for Lowell to cooperate with the economists in Calcaterra and the other IU nations to hammer out an act that reforms, and streamlines the economic benefits shared within the alliance. After the freezing of assets in Kabiva, it was apparent to all nations that they would need to lean on each other for support, and the freeze was also a major factor in getting the law-makers of every nation to sign the Act. This is a huge boon for businesses in every nation, as well as the average man, who enjoy increased freedom to sell their goods to new markets, as well as buy cheaper goods from abroad, and the International Union looks stronger than it has in a long time.

With strength, comes the desire to flex one’s muscles. Anthacia’s civilian companies aren’t the only ones having a field day in the IU. Lockheed-Akima and other private defense contractors were thrilled with the news that Anthacia would be shipping three hundred thousand rifles, millions of bullets, hundreds of tanks, and fifteen fighter jets to Oliandiria and Conmerica, each. A titanic task, but in the end, the benefits were monumental for Anthacia’s defense contractors, as well as Conmerican and Oliandirian generals. There are even rumors that as two of Anthacia’s newest aircraft carriers finish up construction, the Royal Navy will donate two of their current carriers to the two nations.

Finally, Prime Minister Lowell achieved what might be one of the two biggest accomplishments of his administration so far. After the Unity Party administration emerged embarrassed by their failure to negotiate with Kabiva on compensation for freezing Anthacian assets in the nation, it appeared that Anthacia was a pariah outside of the International Union. PM Lowell proved this wrong when he announced that he had reached an agreement with the Federation of Tirfyng on stationing Anthacian military assets in the nation, as well as announcing that Tirfyng was officially under military protection by Anthacia, and an attack on Tirfyng would be treated as an attack on Anthacia. It didn’t end there however, and to the shock and awe of many, Lowell announced another diplomatic success: an agreement with the Empire of Ulutor.

Historically, Anthacia and Ulutor had been rather cold towards each other diplomatically, and that translated into business relations as well. However, this was reversed for the first time in seemingly forever today, as Anthacian and Ulutorian diplomats shook hands today and revealed the signing of the Trans-Iris Trade Agreement. This opens up the economies of Anthacia and Ulutor to trade with each other, and during the press conference, an Ulutorian diplomat remarked that it could herald “a change in course” for Anthacian-Ulutorian relations.

Prime Minister Lowell has brought about a radical change in Anthacia, and despite his detractors, it appears that he is on the march, and the party, the people, the military, and the future march with him.

A New Trade Organization? Kistler, Space, and Air Defense

News takes no breaks, and as negotiations with Sozkana are continuing we have four main stories to get to tonight.

The first comes from the negotiations with Sozkana, but also comes from a growing concern within the Ministry of Trade. After the International Interstate System opened, several problems came up immediately. The two most prominent, however, were the fact that there was nothing in place to protect the system from widespread targeted attacks, either from a terror group or from a rogue government, and the fact that each nation along the system had a different land trade policy, making effective overland trade a nightmare of bureaucracy. So, during the negotiations, the Minister of Trade proposed a joint Zambet Fatan-Sozkanan effort to create a trade organization comprised of nations along the IIS to strengthen economic cooperation. Negotiations about this are still ongoing, but reporters on the scene have suggested that the proposal has a high chance of coming to fruition.

Until then, to solve the security issue in the short-term, both Zambet Fata and Sozkana agreed that any attack, seizure, international incident, and/or capture along the system would be treated as "a hostile attack on peace and prosperity", and thus would be dealt with in full force.

Our next story is a continuation of our previous story, which revolved around the Kistler monopoly case; both sides came to an official agreement late last night. The conditions of the agreement go as follows: Kistler will sell the Lancer brand to Traab investment group, and the Pancsher motorcycle brand to Heltenscu Performance Inc. Additionally, Kistler will halt its price-slashing practices, and will also sell some of its dealerships to Lancer and Pancsher. In exchange, the government will not pursue any legal action against Kistler in regards to this case, and the Zambet Fatan armed forces agreed to purchase over 5,000 Kistler engines for various uses. Traab announced it will run Lancer as a car brand rather than liquidate it, with the company itself announcing a brand new line up for 2078. Pancsher will essentially continue as business as usual, just under new ownership.

Next, the Zambet Fatan Space Agency announced it would be scaling down mining operations on Luna and Celene in favor of pursuing "new frontiers". The Agency announced it had mined all it had set out to mine from Luna and Celene, and would be studying the rocks extensively. No doubt this decision was made with Jean Pop in mind, but it also came at a perfect time. Pop had already drawn up plans for Cassini, Laros, and Braun, and had created prototype rovers and landers, and now with the Agency's mining operations finally drawing to a close, the Agency will simply relocate the resources to Pop.

Part of those resources, however, will go towards a different government program. The Zambet Fatan military petitioned the government for additional funds in order to modernize and expand Zambet Fata's air defense network, to which the government agreed to allocate additional funds to the project. The project is expected to be completed by 2079.

Bring us his Head!
Thus far, the policies of Kayar Kalif have been divisive in nature and deeply unpopular with Liberals in the Country. His expansion of police powers has often been decried as an act of 'Tyranny of Constantine-level proportions'. However, he has remained deeply popular with his base, and with Conservatives. Despite the relative newness of the Liberty Party, the core support the party has is deeply loyal to Kalif, with some going as far as to say that he would be a proper King. Any concerns that Conservatives may have seems to be buried for his 'Conservative Compromise' to keep going. Royalists have buried their concerns over his ever-expanding list of powers as he has proven a tremendous ally on the moral front. Decrying Ulutor's homosexuals as an "immoral and misguided sect" and a "festering wound of horrid parenting, and an absent society". Conservative meanwhile, scarf down their resentment and enjoy his massive immigration changes, and deregulation. Purebloods are very open allies(which might result in their party folding into his if Liberty survives) even though he has shown a light hand in New Aorkai's always unstable situation.

However, Royalists and Conservatives, have found a real reason to oppose him. While they disagree with Liberals in Ulutor on a lot, each of them maintains the age-old hate of Anthacia.

In Business, in the Arms Race, and in Diplomacy, Ulutor fights Anthacia always. It has been a core of Ulutors identity going on 250 years now. Now, Liberals for the most part have advocated a non-hate-based relationship with Anthacia, but it has never been their selling point. Kalif however, has moved in the opposite direction. Reconciliation and Trade with Anthacia seems to be the secret selling point of his campagain. The Trade deal with Anthacia, recently passed in Parliament by a Bizarro vote witch Globalists and Libertists voting together, has stirred up lots of opposition after the Bolivant Times revealed that they learned from a anymous source that Kalif started negotiations without the Authority of the Parliaments Foreign Trade Commission. Combined with the natural hate of Anthacia Kalif and the Libertists are experiencing a record low approval rating.

After the Archipealago War, many saw the primary enemy to be the Anthacian Navy, the long time Hegemon of the Seas. Despite the use of Internationale Naval Forces, the most remembered battles were the slugfests with the Anthacian Navy. This has seen a shift in the hatred of Ulutorians away from the Red Menace, the main antagonist since Constantine ruled the nations in the shadows. Kalif however, points the boogeyman at Toraism. In the past this was supposed to be just who his vitrol was currently pointed at, and that if Anthacia arose it would change its course. But it seems to have been his main hatred indeed.

If the Libertists want to maintain tight control they will need to find a way to dismiss this all by July, or Parliament may swing back into Royalist hands, as they have come out now in open opposition to Kalif, breaking their Conservative Alliance in Parliament.

The Blue Projects: Just Another Vanity Program?

The Office of the President and the Departments of the Navy and the Air Forces has announced the beginning of two closely related projects being undertaken by the respective military departments. While known under the umbrella of "The Blue Projects", the official government conference and published report divided the projects into two separate portions: "Project Blue Sky" being undertaken by the Air Forces and "Project Blue Sea" undertaken by the Navy. The Air Force spokeswoman relayed that "Project Blue Sky" had in fact been on the drawing board for several years, having stewed on the backburner during the waning years of the Naval Junta as a experiment to be conducted and studied alongside several small projects that were just being grouped together under the "Blue Sky" project. When pressed for for details of the project, the spokeswoman shook her head claiming that as much as she'd love to share some details, the Project was still under wraps, and that more information could be revealed at a different time.

The Naval Conference was different. The Naval Spokesman bluntly put it that "Project Blue Sea" was, and this is a direct quote: "Half Experimental Research, and Half Vanity Project", with many believing this to be a barbed jab at interim President Tevka (who could not be reached for comment) and the coming election season. The spokesman also however essentially repeated a lot of the same as from the Air Force Conference: Classified Project, more information at a later date, and the conference was concisely ended.

EDITOR'S ADDENDUM: After the publishing of this piece, we managed to finally get in touch with President Tevka, who did confirm that the Naval Spokesman wasn't entirely incorrect upon calling "Blue Sea" a vanity project. Upon being pressed for further explanation, the President muttered something along the lines of "I wanted to build a Battleship for the Modern Age, but they talked me out of it." We still aren't quite sure if the President was being sarcastic with that comment. However, further interviewing revealed that her urge behind "Blue Sea" was that while the Junta had been in place, it had place heavy emphasis on actually governing, and not actually being a Navy. Since Azaltan considers itself a Regional Naval Power, it only made logical sense to attempt to keep that image up.

Malarsia Broadcasting Company

Malarsia's urban areas have been rocked by civil unrest in recent weeks. The unrest began with a series of student occupation protests against capitalism, consumerism, "imperialism", and traditional institutions. Heavy police repression of the protesters led Malarsia's trade union confederations to call for sympathy strikes, which spread far more quickly than expected to involve nearly 11 million workers, students, and others. The movement has been characterized by spontaneous and decentralized wildcat disposition; this created contrast and at times even conflict internally amongst the trade unions and the parties of the left, and this has been by far the largest general strike ever attempted in Malarsia, and the first nationwide general strike since 1998.

The student occupations and general strikes initiated across Malarsia have been met with forceful confrontation by the police and PMC. President Papatsis administration's attempts to quell those strikes by brute force have, so far, only inflamed the situation further, leading to street battles with the police in several residential areas. However, the battles have been heavily lopsided against the police and PMCs, the rioters have taken heavy losses against police vehicles and from their lack of anti-vehicle weapons.

Because Malarsia's cities have crowded streets with many buildings, fighting has been almost always close quarters. Homes and storefronts have so far lent themselves for defensive positions for ambush and recovery. Some streets were completed abandoned by civilians for fear of being ambushed or targeted by snipers.

Meanwhile, rebel groups in the bayous launched an offensive against the PMCs once they got news of the uprisings. They have defeated, looted, or outright destroyed several PMC bases, and have utterly crippled the PMC's supply chain.

With pressure mounting against President Papatsis, Papatsis declared any and all rebellion or defiance as an insurgency and their perpetrators as terrorists. This led to mass imprisonments, and eventually, with the prisons overflowing, prison riots/breaks broke out. With nowhere else to go, the now free prisoners flocked to the insurgents in the bayous, swelling their numbers.

Despite all that, order was returned to the streets of Malarsia and the prisons were stabilized, though the situation in the bayous remains as tenuous as ever. President Papatsis, however, has been utterly disgraced by the crisis, and there are doubts as to whether or not he can still hold onto power after this.

Regarding that.

Following the news of a select two Stelinese nations' joint statement regarding the IIS reaching Namor, Government heads in Raþnir and Frazier City have decided to issue one of their own, declaring the liberties taken by Zambet Fata and Sozkana to be entirely unjustified and unnecessary, as well as a threat to the International Union member's national security by outside forces that have, in very recent memory, shown hostility and aggression towards the organization.

“We understand the need for security. Do not doubt, it will be maintained along the Oliandirian portions of the IIS. However, the road still runs over Oliandirian land. As we are a sovereign state, we will not tolerate any foreign incursion into our territory. Such is an act of war, and will be treated as would any other.” directly from Rufrir II "Ruvija" Eldäroþ, High Queen of Oliandiria.

In conclusion, Conmericans and Oliandrians alike are utterly capable of maintaining and policing the sections of the IIS within their territory, without the "Assistance" of ANY foreign power, especially those belonging to the National Security Pact and Sixth International.

Zambet Fata Takes A Play Out of Anthacia's Playbook

In accordance with the Agreements in International Trade of 2070, which established guidelines for the International Interstate System, Zambet Fata has decided to take action on not just Oliandiria and Conmerica for their illegal seizure of the system's routes, but also on the International Union for supporting their seizure.

Anthacia wrote:Aoraki News

Aside from the Anthacian Armed Forces moving in to secure all Anthacian equipment and technology that had been given to Kapfenland and Karanic under the Kappos Program, King Edward IV has announced that Anthacia will take no action against Bonple.

In the meantime, the government has as of late been investing more into Conmerica as usual, however as of late, shipments have also been going towards an unlikely contender; Grand Ossta. After Anthacia had exited the war in the Ulan Sea, military officials assured all remaining participants in the war that Anthacia had not lessened its stance on the rogue nation, and would be supporting remaining participants in any way it could. Chief among these nations of interest is Grand Ossta. Anthacia has been producing special equipment to be used by the Osstans en masse to bolster its outdated army against the more advanced Ulutorian enemy. Large chains of convoys have are making their way to Ossta to begin delivering the equipment, which has been in development for some time and has only recently achieved mass production.

The Anthacian government has not commented on the election of Premier Secretary Valeryev in Sozkana.

In line with the international standard set by Anthacia, a nation has the right to take what it has gifted to other nations should they violate the agreements made. The Zambet Fatan Armed Forces, in coordination and cooperation with the Swallonia Armed Forces are, and have, moved into Conmerica and Oliandiria to tear up the routes, infrastructure, etc. Additionally, Greater Yankavo has provided passage through the country and air space to the Zambet Fatan and Swallonian troops and workers. Zambet Fata officially suspended any and all support regarding the IIS in Conmerica and Oliandiria, and Zambet Fata would be more than happy to defend its position before the Council of Advisers. As it stands right now, the decision is officially backed by Bonple, Diemetsa, Kolanica, Nedporen, Senora free state, Sozkana, Ulutor, and Valirria.

Zambet Fata will also back any attempt at compensation taken by the states of Kenner Run, Swallonia and Greater Yankavo.

Outside of this, Zambet Fata has announced, for the first time in nearly three decades, sanctions against all members of the International Union. The sanctions officially freeze any IU assets in Zambet Fata, and ban the import and export of automobiles, engines, chemicals, food, energy, arms, finances, and agricultural products. President Arthur Marariu, in his last act as president, has urged others to join Zambet Fata in the sanctions, and also said Zambet Fata will strengthen its economic ties with those that join Zambet Fata in the sanctions.

War Averted - For Now

Citizens of Pepper City were surprised to see police directing traffic away from streets as several cars raced down the street from the Palace of Parliament to the headquarters of National Spirit. In one of those cars was the newly elected president, President Cristinel Adamache, who mere minutes after being sworn in was presented with an international crisis of biblical proportions.

The international crisis was, predictably, over sections of the IIS in Conmerica and Oliandiria. Like the offense and defense starring each other down in a Smashball game before the ball goes into play, there were standoffs on the border between Zambet Fatan (and Swallonian) troops and IU troops. The standoff nearly resulted in war, and war between the IU and Zambet Fata (and her allies) would have resulted in total thermonuclear annihilation. While the previous president was more than willing to continue pushing the crisis more and more, the new president and his diplomatic core were not willing to end the world over an interstate.

But President Cristinel Adamache is an economics guy, and so the Zambet Fatan Federal Police quite literally ripped diplomat Costache Ganea who was in the middle of talks with Sozkana to address the crisis. Ganea advocated a deal with the IU, a "missile for missile" type deal that was so often done during the Cold War. Adamache and his advisers agreed, and using backdoor channels they communicated their deal to the leaders of the IU, who also agreed.

Ganea quickly hopped into a car to broadcast the deal over the airwaves via National Spirit. With tensions at a boiling point, he feared that war would break out on the car ride. Fortunately, it did not, and the deal was broadcast, and war averted.

The deal goes as follows. Zambet Fata and Swallonia will not send any troops into Conmerica or Oliandiria, but will tear up the IIS road and infrastructure in those two nations. In exchange for this, Zambet Fata will drop the sanctions it announced against the International Union in response to the crisis. With the deal signed, workers got to work systemically dismantling the IIS and infrastructure across Conmerica and Oliandiria.

President Cristinel Adamache said in a statement just after the announcement that "We leaders thought of global politics like a chessboard, a game of moves and countermoves. But we realized, almost too late, that we don't move chess pieces, we throw dice. We do our best, but it's luck more than skill that determines things like this."

Domination. Such a word implies success, glory, and winnings. But the 2077 season showed us why GASCAR is such a unique sport; the champion only won a single race, but silently dominated the season.

Truck Series Sees New Faces, Old Champion

2077 Truck Series champion, Leopold Vogel,
being interviewed by the press after
winning his second championship.

Several new faces entered into the GASCAR Truck Series; Vik Dorn, Cal Amanar, Arthur Saft, and Aayden Bauman all made their first Truck Series starts. Usually, if these were any old rookies coming up from the local short track scene, we wouldn't mention them, but each of them are going to be forces to be reckoned with once they get their sea legs under them; but why?

Vik Dorn from Azaltan comes from a racing family; the Dorns own a race team down in Azaltan and Vik's father used every penny the family earned to help his son's racing career, and as such Vik got seat time in everything from sprint cars, to sports cars, to yes, even stock cars. So, the #24 Truck Series team signed Vik Dorn to run their truck for three years.

Cal Amanar is the son of GASCAR champion and current cup driver, Stefan Amanar. Cal got his start racing karts and later sports cars, where he made a name for himself with his aggressive driving and no nonsense attitude, and so the #99 team signed him to race for them for two years.

Arthur Saft will race for the #88 after the former driver, Ron Hatcherson, saw Saft's talent during a local stock car race. What makes Saft unique, however, is the fact he's only 17, but has speed and talent needed to compete in the big leagues.

Finally, there's Aayden Bauman. Bauman raced the #21 car on the local short track scene where the team won a combined 167 races. Bauman never really wanted to advance and wanted to keep racing for the #21 team, but the team's owner convince Bauman that he could compete in GASCAR, and that he was "wasting his talent" crushing the competition at short tracks. So, the #84 hired Bauman to drive their truck after the former driver retired.

With these new faces and so many other drivers being sophmore or junior drivers, the Truck Series veterans are gradually faded out. One that hasn't faded out was Leopold Vogel, who won his second championship this year in dominating fashion.

New Races Considered A Great Success
GASCAR had three new races this season; the Norefelk Bars 200 at Mid-Austilla, Oliandiria, the Chewies 400 at Salta, Alaback, and the Clayyard 400 presented by Kordlun Hardware at Libertas, Calcaterra. GASCAR considered all three races a huge success, and the track promoters agreed, so let's talk about each in more detail.

The Norefelk Bars 200 was won by the prince himself, Stephen Hoffenheim; it was also Hoffenheim's first cup series win. The race had 13 lead changes, with 22.2 passes per green flag lap, and the seats were sold out. On Alabackian TV, ratings were 7.6 of 10, with viewership at 13.567 million. Averaging ticket sales, TV ratings, viewership, and fan opinion polls, GASCAR ranked this race at 8.2 of 10.

The Chewies 400 was won by Sozkana's own Vasili Alesnaro. The race had 28 lead changes, with 11.6 passes per green flag lap, and the seats were sold out as well. On Alabackain TV, ratings were 7.7 of 10, with viewership at 14.886 million. Averaging ticket sales, TV ratings, viewership, and fan opinion polls, GASCAR ranked this race at 8.6 of 10.

Finally, the one that GASCAR was betting a lot on, was the Clayyard 400 presented by Kordlun Hardware, won by Alaback's Nadia Trauth. The race had 26 lead changes, with 14.3 passes per green flag lap. While the race did not sell out ticket wise, Libertas has a capacity of about 400,000 seats, and the race sold 375,000 seats. On Alabackain TV, ratings were 8.4 of 10, with viewership at 16.521 million. Averaging ticket sales, TV ratings, viewership, and fan opinion polls, GASCAR ranked this race at 9.1 of 10.

Overall, GASCAR exects were pleased with the results, but haven't yet signed an extension with the tracks yet. GASCAR wants to get a larger sample size from the races, so GASCAR will let the 3 year contract run out then decide whether or not to sign an extension.

Kistler's Engine Program Takes A Tumble
Kistler was completely dominant in the 2076 season, and a lot of that is due to their partnership with Deen-Lanm Engines, an engine company that makes sports car engines. Deen-Lanm Engines, however, ended their partnership with Kistler's GASCAR program after they were offered a lucrative contract with a top sports car team. So, Kistler's engine program had to pick up the slack, and they were not equipped to deal with that giant task.

The engines were reliable, but not really fast; the program lacked the magic touch that Kistler needed to propel their cars to victory. Stefan Amanar scored Kistler's lone win at Kistler's (and his) home track and race, the Dakono 350 at Dakono, Zambet Fata. Time remains to be seen if Kistler will either find another company to supply race engines, or will try and bolster its own.

Angor-Morton Rising?

Angor-Morton's lead mechanic making adjustments
to Stephen Hoffenheim's engine before a testing session.

After a horrible 2076 campaign, Angor-Morton Motorsports was at its lowest point in years. But as they say, when you're at your lowest, the only way left is up. What was interesting, however, is that Angor-Morton's charge into success wasn't led by its traditional frontman Karl Weller, but by relative newcomers to not just Angor-Morton, but to the cup series.

The charge's leader was Stephen Hoffenheim, nicknamed the Prince because, well, he's the Prince of Anthacia. He scored his first win at the Norefelk Bars 200, breaking the 42 winless drought Angor-Morton was in. He would also go onto win the Glenigrad 355 in Lapod late in the season. Those two wins would be the team's only ones of the season, but Hoffenheim came darn close to winning in some other races, and he dominated the Durenbaunt Banking Roval 400 before being passed by Baldur Huwyler on the last lap. Clearly, Stephen Hoffenheim is a force to be reckoned with on road courses.

In contrast to Hoeffenheim's knack for road courses, Oliandiria's Adam "Arriver" Tjurgard has speed on the superspeedways of Baytona and Gallediga. Tjurgard nearly scored his second Baytona 500 win, but we'll talk about what happened later. He put up a 3rd place finish at Gallediga, then a 10th place finish at the Firecracker 400. Although the Arriver struggles at short tracks and isn't very good at road courses, his skill at "flat out" tracks makes him a force to be reckoned with.

Finally, Conmerica's Morem Sosco, AKA "Ghost", was all set to claim his first trophy several times, but came up short five different times throughout the season. He finished second at the Termatt Inc 500, then again at the Boxem Outdoors 400. He looked set to win in North Nebraska, but a hard-charging Vasili Alesnaro passed him with two to go. He then finished second, again, at Chewies 400 and then again at the Northern 500. Despite his apparent knack for finishing in second, Sosco struggles at short tracks and is just outright bad at some tracks. Still, with improvement, Sosco could very easily rub shoulders with Hoffenheim.

Overall, the team looks set for greatness, but the veteran Weller seems to be missing. The last time Weller won a race was back in 2074 at the Firecracker 400, meaning he's gone winless for about two years now. That doesn't mean Weller's career is dead in the water and he'll never see victory lane again, every driver goes through a drought in their career. Heck, Alex Bach, the best thing since sliced bread, even had his own three-year winless streak. Weller will just have to use his teammate's momentum to dig himself out of the drought.

Davy Clerisseau: A Hot Commodity?

Clerisseau's race shop in Malarsia.

When Davy Clerisseau made the jump from trucks to cup cars he did so without any backing from any team. So, he, with his girlfriend, some buddies, and volunteers, started his own cup team, and competed in 2076. The team, without any major sponsors, support, or backing, was able to qualify and compete in races, but wins were never a serious consideration; his best finish was 14th.

This year was different. He landed a major sponsor, Garrois Lines, and several associate sponsors. He was able to use that sponsor money to upgrade his team's shop and his equipment. The car, however, needed work; he drove a Cehve, but did so not only without support from Cehve, but did so without the backing of any Cehve teams. Clerisseau was going to run a Cehve again, but Katimos came to him with a deal he couldn't refuse. In exchange for running Katimos cars and promoting the Katimos brand in his home nation of Malarsia, Katimos would tell Trustmanster Racing to give discounts on their equipment to Clerisseau.

Grace Trustmanster, a racer turned teamowner of Trustmanster Racing, gave Clerisseau his discounts on top-tier equipment not only because Katimos asked her too, but because she believed that Clerisseau was a good racer and could perform if his equipment matched his talent, and by allying him to Katimos and Trustmanster Racing, she could offer to give Clerisseau a ride on her team then use his team as a development team.

Whatever the intentions, the deal paid big time for Clerisseau. He won the Baytona 500 after Caroline Eisner (another Katimos driver) pushed him to the lead as the then leaders Adam Tjurgard and Gagarin Vityanilo wrecked each other. And after winning on the biggest stage of them all, Clerisseau went on the claim the Kastal night race win; the first two wins of his career, and both are crown jewels.

He had a handful of top fives and top 10s, but he was overall a mid-pack car. But coming from a back-of-packer struggling with money to a mid-pack car with two crown jewel wins and an alliance with a championship-winning team and a major sponsorship is improvement. Clerisseau is the man to watch next year.

New Leader, New Results: Katimos's Racing Program

Katimos's famous logo, which also adores the
front of all their cars. It is a combination of
Kato's blue and white logo and Imus's red
and black logo.

Katimos is an Alabackian car brand that promotes itself as the "car brand of the night" and is mostly popular with young adults and teenagers as powerful, yet affordable, small joyriding cars to cruise and see the city lights at night.

Formed when the car manufacturers Kato and Imus merged, the company has been a stable of Alabackian night life ever since. And the brand follows in the traditional of Kato and Imus, and competes in stock car racing. But what seperates Katimos from the other car manufacterurs in GASCAR is the fact they have two championship winning teams under their banner; Trustmanster Racing and Ahle Racing; whereas most teams only have one.

But here's the thing; despite fielding more championship-contenting cars then any other auto manufacteror, Katimos struggles to claim championships. Most of that is due to the company, and by extension teams that run their cars, just being swamped by other manufacturers. The massive conglomerates of Cehve, Kistler, Huick, and Ettlinger can throw money around and win through the sheer crushing weight of their corperate might, but Katimos has, and always will, applead to a specific demographic, and so they don't make nearly as much money as the other auto manufactuers they're up against.

But through sheer spite and tenacity, Katimos can compete, and has a loyal following. But spirit and loyality only go so far in the racing world if you don't have equipment to match, and Katimos's higher ups didn't really feel the need to pour much money into GASCAR. You see, after their dominance in the late 2060s and early 2070s with Kasper Kenshin at the head of their racing division, a new CEO stepped up and fired Kenshin, because he felt just having Katimos cars on the track was good enough for advertising the car brand.

But that CEO was tossed out in a corperate coup and was replaced by Shima Kato, the great great grandchild of Kato's founder, Soichiro Kato. Shima wants Katimos to expand its horizons and sell cars to the nightlife all around the world, and part of that plan is victory in GASCAR. So, Shima appointed his son, Kuda Kato, to head Katimos's racing plans.

Kuda sat down with Trustmanster Racing and Ahle Racing, and the two agreed to a technical alliance for time being. Kuda also got Davy Clerisseau to run Katimos cars, and he also introduced a brand spanking new engine. That engine, technical alliance, and new leadership propelled Katimos cars to win 11 of 21 races. That means Katimos cars won about 50 percent of races that season.

But they didn't win the championship. Caroline Eisner and Baldur Huwyler tied each other for most wins in 2077, but each had their own flaws that prevented them from getting the cup. Huwyler is still trying to adjust to racing for Trustmanster Racing, and Eisner was involved in numerous wrecks and just didn't have the speed the champion did in the last races.

Still, Huwyler and Eisner came close to winning the cup, with Eisner just 26 points away, and Huwyler just 29 points away.

But such dominance means that Katimos, Trustmanster Racing and Ahle Racing, will be forces to be reckoned with next season.

The Race For The Cup

Dernov Larion's Huick #20 Great International.

With Katimos winning left and right, Trauth and Angor-Morton making moves, and Clerisseau starting to race up front, it may surprise you to find out that Huick of all companies won the championship.

The usual Huick trio of Vasili Alesnaro, Gagarin Vityanilo, and Dernov Larion ran up front, and many were starting to etch Alesnaro's name onto the cup as he stormed off with the points lead. But a horrible late summer stretch knocked him down to third. and Larion replaced him for first. What was strange, though, is that Larion didn't win a race. And went winless as the season continued, but he kept stretching his points lead. But how?

GASCAR awards points based on finishing positions for each race. Winning the race gets you five bonus points, so the way it works is 1st gets 40 points, 2nd gets 35, 3rd gets 34, etc etc. This keep going until we get to 36th; 36th through 40th get 1 point each, which means finishing in those positions can absolutely kill a driver's points standings.

And finishing 36th through 40th is exactly what happens when your car crashes, engine expires, or you get some other mechanical failure. And that's exactly what happened to Vasili Alesnaro, Caroline Eisner, and Baldur Huwyler. But Larion never finished below 20th in any race, and was almost always in the top five. Sure, he only won once, but it's not who wins the most that gets the championship, it's who scores the most points, and Larion scored the most points.

He actually almost went winless and became the first winless champion in GASCAR history, but he was able to score his first win of the season at the last race in Azaltan after he passed Davy Clerisseau on the last lap to score the win.

And so, Dernov Larion scores his second championship, and in the process scores Huick their fourth championship in the GASCAR cup series.

GASCAR To Add An All-Star Race
Racing is a sport, all GASCAR fans know that, but it is a unique sport; it is an odd combination of a team and individual sport, but none the less it is a sport. But one thing most major sporting leagues have that GASCAR doesn't is an All-Star game, an exhibition game to showcase the best players (the "stars") of a sports league.

While All-Star races aren't unique or anything new (the Alabackian KART League has one), GASCAR doesn't- or rather didn't- have one for several reasons. One reason is that GASCAR didn't feel the need to add one; there was more than enough racing to go around, and crown jewel events filled that "special event" niche. There would also be the inveitable dispute and bidding war over where the race would be held. And then there was the question of who would qualify for the All-Star race.

Well, wonder no more, because GASCAR announced it would be adding an All-Star Race. But where would it be held? Who qualifies for the All-Star Race? What does the winner get?

GASCAR, after testing with Grace Trustmanster at the Valirrian Alps Circuit, was impressed not just with the course, but with the surrounding area. A scenic mountain resort where the luxury is only matched by the altitude. While a road course (literally, it uses public roads closed for a race), it has elements of an oval track with including banked turns and long straights. AKA, the perfect match for an All-Star race.

But who qualifies for the All-Star Race? The answer is all past GASCAR champions, race winners from the previous season and the beginning of the current season, and past All-Star race winners. The only other way to qualify for the All-Star Race is to win the fan vote, or to win a qualifying race held at the track for drivers inelligiable.

Finally, the winner not only gets a shiny trophy of their car's number, but will also get $1 million and an all-paid expense weekend trip to the skiing resort next to the race venue. No word from GASCAR on how many laps the race will be, or who (if any) will sponsor the race as of now.

GASCAR & Grace Trustmanster Complete Testing On Potential Tracks
With GASCAR looking to add new tracks, GASCAR sent Grace Trustmanster and Trustmanster Racing's lead mechanic (who is also Grace's husband) along with a small army of mechanics and officials to will test a cup car around the following tracks, in this order:

1. Champala Beach Course in Alaback
2. Crowley Motor Speedway in Anthacia
3. Autodromo Nazionale di Ananzo in Kolonica
4. Valirrian Alps Circuit in Valirria
5. Jekosov Road Course in Zambet Fata
6. Las Vanraska Speedway in Zambet Fata

As you've read in the previous section, the Valirrian Alps Circuit test was a huge success, with Grace praising the circuit for being a badfast road course where you rarely have to let off of the throttle, yet the course's twisting turns made the car a handfull to drive. "It was the right balance of mashing the gas and handling the wheel" Grace said.

Grace said similar things about the Jekosov Road Course, praising it for being fast and fun to wheel a car around, but did complain about the narrowness of some sections and said the last few turns just simply didn't work with a cup car. Overall, GASCAR has high hopes for the track, but will conduct more testing sessions in the future and make adjustments to the track for cup racing.

Las Vanraska Speedway, also in Zambet Fata, was also subject to a testing session. Here Grace loved the state of the art facilities at the track, and thought certain sections of the track were a wonder to drive. But overall she said the track is definitely built for lightweight sports cars and not big heavy stock cars. So, GASCAR will also conduct further testing sessions here and will make adjustments where needed.

The other two road courses Grace tested at, Champala Beach Course and Autodromo Nazionale di Ananzo, Grace had less than stellar things to say. She said Ananzo was an alright track, but said the track overall was too narrow for her liking, and she also wasn't a fan of some of the corners on the track. But she did say the track and the surrounding vineyard landscape was beautiful. GASCAR decided to put off testing at the course in favor of testing at the other courses, but did say that future tests at Ananzo aren't out of the question.

But she really did not like the Champala Beach Course, saying the course had too many turns, was too narrow, and also said the track just didn't permit itself to speed. And the data backs her up; her average speed over the entire testing session was around 75 mph, which is a snail pace for a race car. So, GASCAR scrapped any future plans regarding the Champala Beach Course.

Finally, she tested at the Crowley Motor Speedway. She quite liked Crowley, saying it reminded her of the Milenadra Mile in Alaback, one of her best tracks when the NCR raced there. Overall she didn't have much to complain about in Crowley, and she thought it would make a great addition to the schedule. GASCAR will run additionally tests at Crowley next year to determine whether or not Crowley will get a cup date.

Imperial Court confirms contested election results!

On July 2nd, Ulutor went to the polls and voted in a new Parliament. However on the morning of the 3rd, Current PM Kayar Kalif say the results and called for a recount. With margins of victory within .1% he had a constituionally madated ability to, but when the recount ended on the 24th, results confirmed and even advanced the gains of the Unionist and Royalist parties. In fact Kalif's Liberty Party lost votes after the recount. So on the 26th, the Liberty Party filed a lawsuit alleding that the companies controlling voting machines commited voter fraud and corruption by taking bribes from other parties to manipulate results.

After consideration, on the 11th of August, the Imperial court threw out the case, after which Kalif attempted to start a Court recall, which was shot down after Empress Marianne II called for a forced early transtition of Parliament on the 15th, using the expressed powers in the Constitution. And finally on saturday, Kalif attempted to re-enter the PM's office, and began assualting a police officer. He was dragged out by guards and was recorded screaming "FRAUD! FRAUD! Its not over! Its not done!". He is now awaiting trial for Assualt of a Officer and resisting arrest. After 2 months of unrest and court-held hell, we have a new Parliament. Here is the makeup:

Royalist Party: 24 members currently in Parliament
Marxist Party: 3 members currently in Parliament
Unionist Party: 30 members currently in Parliament

*Current Prime Minister: Hushan Gumal
Conservative Party: 22 members currently in Parliament
Globalist Party: 12 members currently in Parliament
Liberty Party: 9 members currently in Parliament

As said before the Liberty party took huge loses losing 14 seats, and other more conservative parties have also taken their shots as well. Although with the fusion of the Purebloods into the Conservative, it appears the more radical Nationalist elements of Parliament will find a new home, istead of being taken out with the anti-Kalif wave. The Royalists with their stern oppostion to Kalif have regained a good portion of Parliament, that they have not held since before the Archipealago War. The biggest Winner is obviosly the Unionist party, who now have the lead.

The new Prime Minister, Hushan Gumal, is now the oldest PM since 1988(Guthar Reshandali(86)) at 85 years of age. Despite hounding he is seen widely as a old school moderate, who will do much to recenter the nation. Thus far a coalition has been announced as the Unionist, Globalists, and Royalists suprisingly enough will form a strong coalition governemnt. Gumal has said thus far that his 1st move will be annuling the trade agreement made with Anthacia which, in a interview, he said "Not only is this deal a raw one that sells our country out the Anthacian interest groups, but it stands against everything our nation has stood for since Aremial rose at Ankara 300 years ago.", second on the agenda will be amending the tax codes that suffer a "muck-up" when Kalif attempt to reform them himself. But many are much less concerned with the agenda, and are looking forward to a return to the old days.

UBN To Infinity and Beyond Once more!

The Jushatkan Space Launching Platform has finally been used for the 1st time in over 25 years. Firing the Raynes Gate into orbit, Ulutor begins again its expansion into Space. This is now the 3rd expansion program Ulutor has undergone since the Ulutorian Space Agencies founding in 1967. This space station, the Raynes Gate, is most importantly a launching platform, meant to send Ulutorian craft, commercial craft in this case, onwards to asteroid belts to mine.

Now, will these ventures be sent soon? The 1st scheduled launch is in 2081 so it depends on what timescale you are using. But the estimated benefits of this station are put at 3.5 Trillion Ulas. With additional launches of new stations scheduled throughout the 2080s, these operations could be not only an extreme economic benefit but an end to Ulutor's resource woes.

Historically, Ulutor's success in outward military ventures depended on preparation, stockpiling, and on 1st Strikes. Ulutor does not possess vast amounts of oil, steel, or other key resources aside from Aluminum and Silicon. Thus, Ulutor buys resources in bulk and stores them away in military reserves so that during wartime, they can be brought out into production. This Strategy failed during the Archipelago War when resources hit a critical low when Ulutor was unable to import resources after losing control of the Seas and running out of a stockpile during the War. However, with a larger supply that can be tapped from Space, Ulutor could avoid saving up fuel and material for key strikes on targets and pursue a 'war of attrition.

You may notice that the same problem occurs, if Ulutor can't control the Seas it cant import. If Ulutor cant secure space, it can't bring back material. This is where Prime Minister Hushan Gumal comes in. Gumal has promised that Ulutor will have Merchant Defense Force in outer space to defend these shipping lanes. When Emperor William I was in power Ulutor began placing fighters in Space, but was forced to land them by international pressure and the Act of 2049. However, the recent Trade and Fair Navigation Act passed 3 months ago gives companies the right to defend their own trade by purchasing or contracting native Military Corporations. Essentially, a Ulutorian company can hire a private company that is based in Ulutor to defend their ships. In this context, that means the Merchant Defense Force is effectively privatized, allowing the companies to go around UN Law to put the craft in the stars for the protection of trade. The production, however, is being done by separate companies that were subsidized heavily by Ulutor. The Act also includes a provision explicitly for during wartime.

With 400 Fighters being launched to a Private Security Station being launched in Royonga, a private Space launch facility, Ulutor's merchants of the stars will have their force in space.

Prime Minister Gumal has said that a new generation of stations would go up with the approval of other nations, but how that would be obtained is in question. Ongoing talks in Zambet Fata with former Princess Shreya at the helm seem to reach into that diplomatic avenue. But it appears Ulutor will once more ascend as long as the current schedule keeps ongoing.

Competition Ramping Up In The Truck Series
Ei Pickett, seasoned crew chief for Lagan Parkle,
now crew chiefs Jamie Parkle in the Truck Series. Here you can see him calling the shots from the pits during Jamie's run at the Boxem Boats 200 at Trover.

Since the departure of the "Old Guard" in the Truck Series, many of the drivers of old have taken up the mantle and won championships as rookies came into the series. It seems that now those rookies are finally getting their racing legs under them, and they're starting to get competitive, like, really competitive.

One such driver is Jamie Parkle. Jamie is the son of Lagan Parkle, GASCAR champion and current driver for Bach Racing. Lagan is a fan of the Truck Series, as he grew up racing trucks in Skahyahn, and so he owns a team in the Truck Series called Parkle Motorsports. Parkle Motorsports has a deep connection with Bach Racing, and combined with Parkle's racing knowledge led to two championships for his organization; one in 2064 with Davy Clerisseau and another one in 2076 with Joel Roshan.

Well, add another driver to that list, because Jamie Parkle raised the 2078 cup at season's end. And he did it in dominating fashion; he had a worst finish of 13th and won seven times. In fact, he only finished outside the top ten, and that was his 13th place finish. This can only be described as total and absolute domination, and he truly lived up to his father's last name in trucks.

Rumors have spread around the garage that Lagan might retire so his son can take up driving duties in the 33 car, but both Lagan and Jamie shot those ideas down. Despite his son's dominance, Lagan wants him in trucks for a couple more seasons before moving him to cup, and Jamie agreed with his father's decision. We'll see how Jamie performs next year.

Tests at Crowley Considered Succes: Races Scheduled
GASCAR conducted additional tests at Crowley this season since the previous tests were such a great success. After another testing session with Grace, GASCAR determined Crowley needed testing with multiple cars to see how racing at the track will roughly look. So, GASCAR brought Alex Bach, Karl Weller, Gagarin Vityanilo, and Kalevi Costiniu to test their cars at the track at the same time. We'll have Bach say how the test session went; "Really haven’t watched a ton of races here so it was a really steep learning curve for me." "Just trying to piece together all of the different parts of the track was a challenge I'll admit, but once we all got it figured out we had a lot of fun." Bach further added, "While I usually don't like low-banked tracks, this one was fun."

And he's right, Crowley is a low banked track. To put it into perspective, the lowest banked track in GASCAR right now (ignoring road courses), is Bursahai in Ulutor, with a banking of 14° in the turns, 8° on the frontstretch, and 2° on the backstretch. Crowley, on the other hand, has progressive banking of between 2° and 7° in the turns, and 1° on the frontstretch and backstretch. For comparison, the banking at Baytona in the turns is 31°.

With all the positive feedback from drivers, GASCAR decided to start talks with the track's owners about hosting a race. Talks began with the track's owner Bob Butler (who also has part-ownership in the Kürranie Motor Speedway) and the local government. Going into the talks GASCAR wanted to install lights at Crowley for a night race, but there was a problem with that. You see, Crowley is a tourist and fishing hub in Anthacia, and if GASCAR raced at night they would receive huge amounts of noise complaints, and might even disturb sleeping fish.

See, local stock car races average about 110 dB in noise; that's loud (about how loud a rock concert is), but not town-disturbing. Let's compare that to GASCAR cars; GASCAR cars average at 145 dB. They are so loud as a matter of fact, people sitting close to the track have to wear hearing protection or risk hearing damage. To further drive home the point, 145 dB is about how loud a .22 deer-hunting rifle gunshot is. Imagine you or your fish are sleeping, and there's gunshots going off for three hours!

Suffice to say, the local government and population were fine with a race, just not at night. So, GASCAR agreed to race during the day, and signed Sacaigan Inc to sponsor the race as the Sacaigan Resort Casino 301. And speaking of racing and Anthacia...

"I just knew it wasn't the time, but I feel like we can win now"

Karl Weller in the pits at this year's
Northern 500. You might notice the paint
scheme is different; that's because 2078
was the 100th year anniversary of
Theo Murphy Banking, which is a subsidiary
of Angor-Morton. So, the company ran this
throwback paint scheme, which had the original
logo of Theo Murphy Banking on it from 1978.

Last time we left Angor-Morton, Hoffenheim scored the team two wins, Tjurgard and Sosco were making sure first place always looked in their mirrors, and the team was putting up record-breaking pit stops. There were some things the team needed to work out; Weller, the frontman for the organization, was doing horribly and the team was struggling to diversify their driver's skills.

Then came a promotion. Matthew Morgan, the crew chief for Weller, was promoted. On top of crew chiefing duties for Weller, he became the vice president of competition for Angor-Morton. This gave him the ability to dictate the team's strategy throughout the season. So, Morgan decided to mix things up.

In order to diversify the driver's skills, he swapped Tjurgard and Sosco's crew chiefs and frequently invited the two out to dinner so the two could gleem information off each other; Tjurgard would help Sosco understand the superspeedways, and Sosco would help Tjurgard get a better grasp at the intermediates. He also sat Jones down with the new guy in Angor-Morton, Denis Hitternaier, driver of the #68, to help him understand the finer details of wheeling a car.

Now, Morgan made use of every bit of time behind the wheel the drivers were allowed to have. Every minute of practice was used, and Morgan used all the allowed test sessions for the drivers. And even during the race he used all sorts of strategy. He openly told Angor-Morton's heads that this season "we might not win the cup, but the knowledge we get will." So, with the mindset that this season was just one big test session, Morgan threw everything at the wall and saw what stuck. Somethings stuck so well you'd swear he'd glued them, while others failed to even make it to the wall.

This tactic scored Stephen Hoffenheim a win and the team ranked up top 15s like they were going out of fashion. But when something didn't stick, it really didn't stick, meaning Tjurgard, Sosco, Jones, and Hitternaier all failed to break into the top ten in points at season's end. But someone who did was Weller, who scored a 9th place points finish at season's end, which was his first top ten points finish since he finished 8th in 2075.

When interviewed regarding Angor-Morton in 2078 and what 2079 might look like, Morgan responded "I just know it wasn't the time, but I feel like we can win now".

Another Fine Year For Huick; But For How Long?
Huick, one of the largest cooperatives in the world and an automotive juggernaut has taken its place among the winningest manufacturers in GASCAR history, and this year was no exception. Dernov Larion scored a second place points finish with three wins, and Vasili Alesnaro scored a 4th place points finish and single win. On top of that, Gagarin Vityanilo scored the brand two wins. These three are easily some of the most talented drivers GASCAR has to offer, but there is a problem.

These three are old by GASCAR standards. Alesnaro is 47, and Vityanilo is 50. Even the "young" Larion is 39, and as it stands right now there’s no “up and coming” drivers in Huick’s driver development. Why? Because Huick doesn’t have a driver development. Huick relies on scouting agents to scout out already developed drivers, which while that can be effective, it also relies on those drivers not being signed into contracts, and also relies on Huick having the equipment and money to coax drivers into their program.

And there’s a lot of problems with that, but the main one is that Huick tries to recruit from the second world since that’s where Huick has the most influence. The thing is is that while that worked great in the past, recently there’s been a shift away from stock car racing in the youth, and instead the racing young have been going towards rally, offroad, and motorcycle racing. That means that Huick has a smaller pool to pick drivers from, and the drivers they do have to pick from might be coaxed by other teams.

Huick doesn’t seem to mind though. The main purpose of Huick racing in GASCAR is to get their brand out into the world and show how their cars can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the automotive giants. Suffice to say, Huick has a different mindset than other companies racing, and it seems to have worked for them so far. Time will tell if this works out for them.

Katimos Makes A Genius Discovery… Then Gets Slapped With Fines
With the technical alliance between all the Katimos teams, when one team makes a discovery, they share it with the other teams. That strategy seemed to have worked for them as they got their first win in the Norefelk Bars 200, but there was a problem. They were doing well, but they weren’t winning often. By the halfway point in the season, Katimos had a single win to their credit. Not winning means dropping back in the points, and when you start losing points, you start getting desperate. And in that desperation, the race shops began exploring how to make the cars go faster and faster.

That’s when Ahle Racing made an interesting discovery. See, all the Katimos teams run the fuel bavaline, a fuel unique to Ankriad, and that fuel is the same for all the teams. But Ahle Racing looked at the rule book, and discovered that you could not modify the fuel with “automotive additives”. So, while you can’t modify the fuel’s mixture with other automotive mixtures, it says nothing about modifying it with other mixtures.

So, out of sheer curiosity, engineers at Ahle Racing added a hint of mixtures that are often found in…. rocket fuel. So, mixing bavaline with those rocket fuel elements made the car slightly faster. But “slightly faster” is still faster, and so they shared the info with the rest of the Katimos teams, and they all showed up to the Trustmanster 600 and ran a really good race. Curious, GASCAR inspected every inch of the cars, but couldn’t find anything wrong.

Going into the next race the teams did the same thing, but told their drivers to not absolutely floor it so they wouldn’t look so suspicious. While they didn’t win the next three races, all the Katimos teams placed within the top 10. Then, following the Dakono 350, Caroline Eisner needed a win to maintain her points lead, so her team mixed more rocket fuel into the bavaline and floored it and she absolutely dominated the race and won. But as she crossed the finish line, the engine blew up. This looked highly suspicious to GASCAR officials, so they tore her car down and found the fuel mixtures.

Now, strictly speaking within terms of technicality, the teams didn’t break any rules, but it was of questionable legality. GASCAR banned teams from adding “rich fuel mixtures” to their fuel, and while GASCAR didn’t knock the teams any points, they did hit them with fines. In total, the three teams were fined $400,000. Much to the chagrin of GASCAR officials and Katimos’s on track rivals, the CEO of Katimos, Shima Kato, found the story so hilarious that he gave each of the teams the money to pay the fines.

Amanar And Kistler Have Another Great Season

Kurj Dalca, crew chief for Stefan Amanar pictured
walking out of the hospital Stefan Amanar was being treated at after his injury at the Hirhi Electronics 400. His cheery demeanor gave the press all they wanted to know; Amanar was not only okay, but Dalca had something up his sleeve to make sure Amanar kept the points lead.

Kistler and the company’s frontman, Stefan Amanar, had another tremendous season. He started out of the gates strong, winning the Baytona 500 by about half a car-length over Nadia Trauth. He then went on to win at Gallediga. His dominance at superspeedways wasn’t all him, as he and his teammate, Kalevi Costiniu (also a Baytona 500 winner), did research on the aerodynamics of the draft over the off-season, and discovered the by running their cars bumper-to-bumper, they could get a massive speed boost. Of course, the cars would have to switch spots so the second car wouldn’t overheat, but this tactic got Amanar the win at the superspeedways. Naturally, it didn’t take long for the other teams to realize this too, but the pioneers of the tactics were the masters.

All was going fine for Stefan Amanar until the Hirhi Electronics 400 at Ulutor came around. About halfway through, Amanar made contact with Aksakov Vyach, and Amanar smacked into the wall drivers-side first hard. He was able to drive the car to finish, but he had to literally be lifted out of the car by his crew. As it turns out, he had a broken rib and a bruised lung.

Now, doctors advised him to take about a month off then come back and see them. The problem, however, is that if Amanar missed even a single race, he would lose the points lead and thus, lose out on the chance to win his second championship. So, Amanar's crew chief, Kurj Dalca, the mad scientist he is, devised a plan. See, whoever starts a GASCAR race is credited with the finishing position. You could start the race, turn a few laps, then come in and get replaced by the greatest driver in the garage. And then, if that driver wins, you are credited with the win, the reward, and the points.

So, Amanar did just that. For the Chewies 400, Trustmanster 600, and Durenbaunt Banking Roval 400, he would turn a few laps with a flak jacket on (so he wouldn't completely make his injuries worse), pull in, and get replaced by his son, Cal Amanar, who would run the rest of the race. Then for the Seasonal Outdoors 500, Northern 500, and Dakono 350, same plan, but instead of Cal Amanar, he’d be replaced by Tristan Chapelle. Chapelle is a multi-time winner and champion in the Stelin KART Series, an open-wheel series, and Clerisseau recommended Chapelle to Amanar.

And Chapelle went out and lived up to his KART reputation. He outright won the Seasonal Outdoors 500 and the Northern 500, and placed 15th in the Dakono 350. This gave Amanar a comfortable cushion for his return at the Kistler 325 Presented by KonvoCo. Now, with a flame lit under him, he went on an absolute tear; he quite literally won the rest of the races in the season. That’s right, he won the House Sberrj 400, Glenigrad 355, Clayyard 400 presented by Kordlun Hardware, Callum Corp 500, and finally the Wentz 400. He basically secured the championship after the Clayyard 400 presented by Kordlun Hardware, and although he won the Callum Corp 500, he still needed to have second place, Dernov Larion, place outside the top 20 in order to secure the championship completely.

The Race For The Cup
Stefan Amanar's Kistler #8 Intrepid.

It should be obvious from the previous section who won the championship. Despite a harsh season, Stefan Amanar won the cup by a large margin. Once again, Kurj Dalca’s wonder with setting up a car and judging when to bring the car into the pits gave Amanar a chance to win wherever he went, and win he did.

The History Hub

Ryan Vic at the 1988 Firecracker 400.

In an effort to educate our readers about stock car history before the establishment of DOSCAR (later DASCAR and GASCAR), we’ve started the History Hub. The History Hub will detail a story from stock car racing’s past so our readers can learn the lore of GASCAR.

And what better way to start the History Hub then by telling the story of the last win of stock car’s statistically greatest driver?

Ryan Vic was active from 1955 all the way to 1994, with his last win coming at the Firecracker 400 in 1988 at Baytona. The first of his 183 career wins came in 1957 at an unnamed race in Sprikwood. That’s right, 183 career wins, and to put that into perspective, the next closest driver, Rickie Johnsen, has 102 wins. Ryan Vic is also tied with Rickie Johnsen and Erik Trustmanster with the most championships, with 8.

Ryan Vic indisputably had the best car in the 1988 Firecracker 400 until his camshaft broke. In that race, Vic drove from 34th into the lead in just 50 laps without hardly any help from the caution flag, and by lap 60, Ryan was breaking away from the field when the caution flew for Bobby Tuinel’s blown engine. And then after a series of pit stops dropped him back, Ryan passed the leader Claude Scrukils handily, which virtually no other car on the track at that point in the race could do.

On lap 158 of 160, Ryan and Claude Scrukils, driving the #52 Cehve, were battling for the lead. While this was going on, a wreck occurred in turn one. The race was placed under caution, and as per SCARB’s rules at the time the caution period did not begin until the leaders reached the start/finish line. Vic and Scrukils continued their battle through turns three and four, with the first driver to make it back to the line also taking home the race victory as the positions would be held once they crossed and there would not have been enough time to clear the track and resume the race. Scrukils cut a tire exiting turn 4, allowing Vic to cruise to the win.

Vic would race for six more years and would never find victory lane again, and would retire after the 1994 season was over.

Track Trivia

Baytona International Speedway as it stands today.

And we’re not just doing the history of the sport, we’re also going to do the history of a specific track too. After all, what is a racing series if it didn’t have tracks? And what better track to start off with than Baytona International Speedway; the world center of racing itself?

The origins of the track start with the Baytona beach. The beaches of Baytona have finely-grained sand which is perfect for auto racing, in fact the beach was home to land speed record attempts in the 1920s and 1930s before attempts moved elsewhere. That opened up the doors of Baytona beach for stock car racing in the 1940s and 1950s, and the Baytona Beach Course was very prestigious on the SCARL calendar. But as speeds got higher and higher, races got more and more hectic and chaotic. So, SCARL’s founder and president, Lloyd Murchance, began thinking up ideas for a permanent racetrack in Baytona. After doing some research and traveling to the Jagen proving grounds, he assembled a 10-man designer team and they got to work designing a track where drivers would never have to let off the throttle.
Construction lasted three years and Murchance was deeply in debt by the time it was finished. But it was finished, and he dropped the beach course from SCARL’s calendar and replaced it with a race at the new track in 1959. The track was completed only a week before the race was scheduled, and drivers poured into the track and they were impressed. The first race took place and was named the “1959 First 500 Mile SCARL International Sweepstakes at Baytona” (it was the first Baytona 500, as the race would be called the next year). The race was a huge success, and the photo finish took a week to figure out who won, meaning the speedway got a lot of attention.

Murchance added a road course to the track, and racing series from all around Alaback (and even the world) flooded into Baytona to schedule events. Today, the track plays host to over nine different series, with the major events being the Baytona 500 (GASCAR Cup Series), the Juniper Networks 250 (GASCAR Truck Series), the 24 Hours of Baytona (International Endurance Championship), the Baytona 200 (International Motorcycling Federation), the Baytona Ringer 250 (World Touring Car League), the Lake Peney Powerboat Race (Speedboating Racing League), and the Motorcross at Baytona Presented By Adiltv (Motorcross Motorcycling Federation). Suffice to say, the track more than earns its nickname as “The World Center of Racing”.

The track had several improvements and renovations throughout its history. The first repave and renovation of the stands was made in 1978, then again in 1986. Lights were installed around the track in 1998, allowing for night races. The largest renovation was done in 2013, and lasted three years and cost over 400 million Dolarks. It would again be renovated in 2027, 2035, 2056, and again in 2074.

The track today is a modern colosseum of speed. Currently it holds the record as the single largest outdoor sporting arena; it is so large in fact, it could be a downpour at one side of the track and sunny on the other side. Baytona prides itself on providing a great fan experience, and has also got several records in the process; most bathrooms of any sporting arena, most concession stands of any sporting arena, and also allows people to bring their RVs and other motorhomes into the infield to watch racing from inside the track.

It goes without saying that the ancient Ankraidians, who used to hold chariot races in limestone amphitheaters would be proud that their ancestors carry on the tradition…. just in a slightly different way.

Sponsor Spotlight

Brightwater's iconic logo.

And for our final new addition, we have the sponsor spotlight. Sponsors are the lifeblood of GASCAR; without them, the sport would not exist in its current form. So, to pay thanks, we’ll highlight a sponsor on every new edition. While the sponsors will be randomly picked after this edition, we figured we start with the sponsor that has had the most success as a result of sponsoring a driver; Brightwater.

Brightwater was founded in 2029 with the idea of selling completely “purified” water; essentially they didn’t want to pump their water with a bunch of minerals, additives, etc.; they sold and bottled just straight up H2O. But that wasn’t doing very well, so they ditched that idea and then sourced water from the glaciers in the seas north of Ankraid and sold that (after filtration, of course). This got them some success, but they were still a small brand that needed to get their name out there, so they put their hat into the ring at Garbith Marketing.

Through Garbith, Brightwater was put into contact with Alex Bach, a racer who just raised enough money to compete in the new DOSCAR league. Brightwater, seeing as how Bach had literally no sponsors, offered him a contract; they would sponsor his entire car for one season, and depending on how well he did, they’d keep sponsoring him. It goes without saying they kept sponsoring him.

As Bach found victory lane more and more, so too did Brightwater. They made stupid amounts of money, and introduced newer and newer types of Brightwater, including “Brightwater+”, which adds flavor to the water to give it a distinct taste. And with their newfound cash too, they branched out into other beverages, introducing Teacup Lemonade and V8 Powerdrink. Eventually, Brightwater got so much money they reformed into a corporation and bought Congle Food Inc, expanding their products to include frozen/refrigerated food and TV dinners.

As DASCAR reformed into GASCAR, Brightwater began selling its products worldwide, and today Brightwater’s bottled water brands account for 30 percent of all bottled water sold worldwide.

The company has a strong connection with Alex Bach, and the company’s CEO, Gary Galaqu, is close friends with Bach. Bach has appeared in numerous commercials, ads, and has done more sponsorship appearances than any other driver. He even sometimes loans old race cars to Brightwater so they can showcase them at stores that sell their products for a short time. And even today, Bach’s famous number 36 car adorns every bottle of Brightwater.

GASCAR All-Star Race I

Stefan Amanar leading at the All-Star race,
followed by Nemetz, Hoffenheim, Parkle, and Bach.

The first GASCAR All-Race was held this season, and it was a big success. Taking place at the Valirrian Alps Circuit, the race was a sold out crowd and TV ratings were through the roof. The qualifying race, the GASCAR All-Star Open, a race between the drivers who weren't automatically in the All-Star race, was won by Karl Weller after an intense duel with Tony Maxwell and Lieselotte Oberhauser. Maxwell, after finishing second in the Open, won the fan vote by quite a big margin. So, Weller and Maxwell joined the rest in competing in the actual race.

In the actual race Caroline Eisner was able to get the lead for the first 20 or so laps before she was overtaken by Alex Bach. Ole Nemetz was then able to get past Bach, then Stephen Hoffenheim took the lead with Nemetz hot on his tail. Then, Parkle joined the party, and there was a four-way battle for the lead between Bach, Nemetz, Hoffenheim, and Parkle. Then, a hard-charging Stefan Amanar was able to catch the four and was able to use an expertly-timed pit stop to pass all four of them in the closing laps, taking the checkered flag. Your GASCAR All-Star Race I winner; Stefan Amanar.

Official Re-Inauguration of the Republic
It was a grand day in Champala as we here at the Champion happily celebrate the official end of the Naval Junta as former Admiral Ana Tevka made the official exchange with the newly elected president. Many felt that having been on the receiving end of the coup, the theoretically incumbent conservatives of the National Unity would have a hard time climbing back up to the presidency; but the revival of both the Trade Union-aligned Unionist Party and the Social Revolutionaries essentially ripped away a big enough portion of the left-wing of the People's Union that in combination with the "Fresh Slate" slogan/initiative carried out by the party and both former presidents Tenrik Koth and Sadie Hart managed to barely get in a victory for the NUP. As such, when the official exchange of office happened, Ana Tevka was seen alongside the (rather bland and boring) NUP paper-pusher Eric Tims, who'd been placed as the party's nominee do his rather clean and boring record.

Despite his personality, President Tims gave what has been titled by many to be the "Normalcy" speech, in which he claimed that through the "Fresh Slate" initiative and informal partnership with the People's Union that Azaltan shall soon reclaim it's pre-Junta lifestyle: a lifestyle of making home with the mighty oceans and attempt to reclaim it's slate of being the informal neutral mediator of the region. He also made the specific promise of modernization of Azaltan's "Floating Canneries" before ending his speech with a short moment of silence for the recently departed Stanton Kor, who had correctly predicted that he'd not live to make another appearance after the latest constitutional convention.

Also Present at the celebration were former Presidents Hart, Koth, and surprisingly Todd, all of whom seemed genuinely relieved and were extremely warm when spoken to by our reporters and other media (even Todd); with Hart and Koth in particular extremely glad about the rebound of the NUP despite it's own mistakes having led to the incident with the coup. All three of them support the new government wholeheartedly, and as have the nominees for the RU, SR, and Maximist Parties; alongside former People's Union nominee Ruther Wentz and especially Wentz Corporation. It appears that that the path of the Republic is in fact, a positive one.

Zambet Fata, Ulutor, and Ikazia

Nationale Deluta - National Spirit
Sozkanan-Zambet Fatan Treaty of Comradery & Cooperation signed - New space missions launched

After roughly 2.5 years of talks, Sozkana and Zambet Fata have signed the Treaty of Comradery & Cooperation. The treaty's nearly 500 pages outline many things, so we'll just highlight the most notable ones:

1. Article 8: Defense Pact and Military Cooperation. The article dictates for both nations to support each other if an external party attacks one of the two. The Article does not cover offensive wars, however. Additionally, the article points at increasing military cooperation, including the sharing of "military know-how", AKA technology, training, etc.

2. Article 11: Science and Engineering Cooperation. This article makes it easier for the nation's respective science and engineering institutions to share information and work together. Diplomats from both nations stated the main goal was to aid in space travel, agriculture, energy, and transportation. This was probably the most debated upon article; critics said it'll just make it easier for the nations to leach off of each and that it'll stifle competition, while proponents said that increased cooperation will greatly aid in the scientific and engineering endeavors of both countries, with the more..... jingoistic proponents hoping that the article will bridge the technological gap between Zambet Fata/Sozkana and Anthacia, although diplomats were quick to point out the article has peaceful intentions.

3. Article 15: Creation of the Global Economic Organization (GEO). The Global Economic Organization was officially created by this article. The GEO is an intergovernmental organization that regulates and facilitates international trade between nations and resolves trade disputes. Rather than promote open and borderless trade, however, the GEO's goal is to make it easier to trade in goods, services, and intellectual property among participating nations by giving them a framework for negotiating trade agreements. Obviously created with the International Interstate System in mind, North Nebraska became the third nation to join GEO after joining earlier this week, and President Cristinel Adamache hopes the GEO will eventually include most of Tierra.

4. Article 21: Creation of the International Banking Institute (IBI). The International Banking Institute was also officially created by this article. The IBI is also an intergovernmental organization, but the IBI will negotiate and provide loans through approved creditors for government projects around the world. The IBI is split into various departments; human development (education, health, etc), agriculture, environmental protection (pollution reduction, establishing and enforcing regulations), infrastructure (roads, electricity, etc), large industrial construction projects, and governance (legal institutions development, anti-corruption programs, etc.). Unlike previous organizations which promoted a free market and open trade, the IBI will simply provide loans. North Nebraska, with its strong banking and financial institutions, was one of the founding members of the IBI, along with Zambet Fata and Sozkana.

There are, of course, many other articles we did not cover here, but these are by far the most important.

In other news, the Zambet Fatan Space Agency announced several new missions and programs. Of these include: a satellite that will get closer to Sol than any man-made object has before that will also drop probes into Sol, unmanned explorations of Cassini and Braun, a massive communications and observation satellite for Webb, both manned and unmanned missions to Solus, and finally a satellite that will orbit and observe Laros and drop several probes to the surface.

Domination By Parkle Motorsports: Truck Series

Joel Roshan's #3 truck, one of the most famous paint schemes in the truck series.

Coming off of a championship, many were looking at Parkle Motorsports as the championship favorites, and they did not disappoint. Joel Roshan claimed the truck series championship with two wins and a stupid amount of top tens, and Jamie Parkle claimed third in the points, with 2 wins also. Although not a dominating season, they definately did a lot better than the other teams, and that was in no small part due to Ei Pickett's crew chiefing and the team becoming a "dual" team. But what is a dual team?

A dual team is a team that particaptes in multiple different racing series. Ahle Racing, for example, fields cars in the GASCAR Cup Series and the GASCAR Truck Series, and occasionally the Alabackian Super Stockcar Series. Teams that focus on only one series are the most common, however, and that is for a good reason; focusing all of the organization's resources on a single series can, and usually is, a good thing.

But the truck series is an odd beast. While slightly different, trucks that race in the GASCAR Truck Series and those that race in the Skahyahnian Truck Championship are similar, which is probably why the truck series holds several races in Skahyahn. So, Parkle Motorsports decided to start fielding trucks in both the truck series and the truck championship, and had the two gleam information off of each other, which paid massive dividends in the end.

Leopold Vogel is also worth mentioning, as he claimed 5 wins but finished second in the championship points standings; he had several terrible runs and even DNF'd in several races, which just goes to show how it's not wins, but consistence that wins cups.

Disaster Strikes Kistler; Is Their Time Up?

Stefan Amanar's engine blowing up during
the Northern 500, which perfectly represents
the current state of Kistler's GASCAR division.

The GASCAR fraternity was in something of a state of shock as Kistler announced in the silly season that Kurj Dalca, 2-time championship crew chief for flagship driver Stefan Amanar, was leaving the Kistler racing division entirely. The car maker announced that Dalca was leaving its GASCAR competition team at the conclusion of the 2078 season, ending a 3-year run that to date has produced 16 victories. The brand announced that "Dalca has been a great partner for many years, and he has been part of numerous memorable moments throughout these past three years".

This left reporters with their jaws on the floor. Why did Dalca, at the height of his career, coming off of a championship season, leave Kistler? Well there's more to the story than meets the eye. Anonymous sources have leaked- and Dalca has not denied- that Kistler was not respecting Dalca's decisions over the past years. The brand is in GASCAR first and foremost for marketing, and Dalca repeatedly made changes to the car's engine and appearance in order to claim victory. The problem is that an Intrepid in GASCAR and an Intrepid on the street now have nothing in common besides name. That wouldn't be bad necessarily, but the amount of beating and banging Dalca and his drivers did on the cars cost Kistler a massive amount of money- so much sometimes they were net losing money if they didn't win.

So, some say that Kistler fired Dalca, while others claim Kistler and Dalca agreed that Dalca's departure was for the best. The most reputable and trustworthy sources say that Dalca was offered a three-year contract by Kistler, but with stipulations and pay that Dalca disagreed with and after negotiations, the two couldn't come to an agreement, so Dalca left.

Prominent members of Kistler's racing division, such as the driver Dalca crew chiefed for, Stefan Amanar, and the owner of Kistler's GASCAR program Stefan Kiritescu called out Kistler and issued formal complaints within the company. Their main complaint is that the brand and the higher-ups shouldn't be trying to force their ideas into the division when people within the division, those that live and breathe stock car racing, know better generally.

But complaints can't bring Dalca back, and the racing division's morale took a big hit, and that was reflected in their performance. Not a single one of their drivers won this year, and they all failed to get a top ten points finish. Many have wondered if this divide between race team and race team owner is going to tear Kistler apart, but the team is still competitive, just not as competitive, and rumors are floating around that prominent members of the Kistler racing division are talking to other teams.

Allen Kunecki To Call it a Career
Allen Kunecki, the 2063 GASCAR champion, four-time Kastol night race winner, and 21 race winner, announced that the 2079 season would be his last full-time season. However, his team, Team AK, will continue on with Kunecki going from an owner-driver to just an owner. The team will go from a one car team to a two car team, with the 77 being renumbered to the 07, and the 77 transitioning to a car for part-time racers. So, one driver will drive the 07, and multiple drivers will drive the 77, and one of those drivers will be Kunecki. No news on who the other drivers will be, but we'll be sure to report on it as news becomes available.

This is important because Kunecki was the only Bonple driver in the cup series, and many consider Team AK as the flagship team for the Bonple Car Company. Bonple isn't "car crazy", but their huge population with money to spend and Bonple's global influence means that GASCAR wants Bonple to have some sort of presence in GASCAR. So, Team AK might be in the news more often now with this reorganization.

One of Katimos's dealerships. Katimos uses their
success in GASCAR to fuel auto sales, both in Alaback and around the world, hence the "sporty" look of their dealerships.

Another Fine Season For Katimos; Expansion To Follow?
Katimos had another fine season in 2079, with five wins (including the Baytona 500), with four of its five drivers in the top ten in points at season's end. And with such success, comes expansion.

This expansion comes in the form of business. Katimos has used its success in GASCAR to catapult the brand from an Ankriadian-only brand to selling cars worldwide. At first, this expansion started in "safe" markets, where Katimos could pretty easily set up shops and sell cars, like in Malarsia. But as the Katimos badge has seen victory worldwide, Katimos has, and is, carving its own slice of the global auto market.

What's more, Katimos is a car brand unlike any other. It is not just another multi-billion dollar company that pumps out cars, vans, and pickups. Katimos focuses on making fuel-efficient, sporty, and affordable cars; the nature of their cars means they appeal to only a select few demographics, none of which are the majority.

The average reader is probably wondering what the heck they just read, so we'll put it in laymen's terms. The prime demographic- the people that buy the most cars- are people aged 30 to 48, with extra cash to spend. They want a nice, comfortable car that drives and rides good. That is the demographic all the major auto manufacturers target; Cehve, Kistler, Ettlinger, Huick, etc.

There is another demographic out there that also buys their fair share of cars. These people are aged 18 to 28, are on a budget, but they want a fast, fuel-efficient, and "cool" car. That's the demographic Katimos targets, and the other auto manufactueres mostly ignore.

It's for that reason Katimos is expanding into the "cash cows" of the auto industry. Those "cash cows" are Anthacia, Conmerica, Calcaterra, central Stelin (Diemetsa, Bonple, and Zambet Fata), and Ulutor. Time will tell if they're able to make it in these markets, but for a brand known for success on the race track, they'll probably be known for success in the market as well.

Weller trying to make a move on
Drew Zuri at the Gallediga race.

Back To Form: Angor-Morton Motorsports
It was tough being a fan of Angor-Morton. So close their drivers had come to claiming the cup, only to fall into mediocrity and at times, disaster. Any attempt at trying to get better would be swamped by other teams. The GASCAR journalist Adrian Teven put it best; "Angor-Morton had the misfortune of being one of the best while it raced against the best".

But no more do the fans have to suffer. Angor and Morton, being bankers, are used to playing the long game, and play the long game they did. They looked abroad for new talent and hired Matthew Morgan and his mechanic team to crew chief and pit Karl Weller, and through Morgan Angor-Morton was introduced to the wide world of racing. Morgan brought in some talent from overseas, like Mike Parson from Skayhan and Jackie Thomers from Alaback. Together, the team would work with Angor-Morton to build up the organization bit by bit. If you've been paying attention to Angor-Morton these past five years, you've seen this building process. Much like growing a tree, creating a championship-winning team takes a lot of time and care, and things go a lot smoother if you know what you're doing, and the team did.

On paper, the season looked like an absolute disaster for the organization; they scored one win with Weller at the Glenigrad 355, and they only had one driver in the All-Star Race. But wins can be deceiving, and wins don't win championships, consistence does, and boy did Angor-Morton have consistence. Weller scored 19 top ten finishes and Hoffenheim scored 12 top ten finishes (GASCAR runs 22 points races), and Sosco and Tjurgard scored 8 top tens between them. Denis Hittermaier scored three top ten finishes including a second place run at the Kellyorr Unity Corp 500. Suffice to say, the ball had got rolling.

Bach's famous #36 Cehve.

Bach To Form
Alex Bach is a GASCAR superstar and was (and still is) integral in helping to popularize racing around the world, thus becoming a global cultural icon in the process. With that said, the past decade has not been kind to Bach; his last championship was in 2067, 12 years ago. He's won 17 races since then, which is more than can be said for other drivers, and only lost the 2074 championship by a single point, but still, he has been struggling.

Much of this can be attributed to the departure of his long-time crew chief Artur Denzel in 2067; Bach won all of his championships with Denzel and the two had such good compatibility that other teams can only dream of. The problem with such arrangments, however, is that they have to end eventually, and when they end they usually end in disaster. And end in disaster it did; Bach fell off significantly after Denzel left, and throughout this past decade Bach has went through six different crew chiefs, and the last one's two-year run saw Bach fail to win once and a best points finish of 9th.

Enter Kurj Dalca stage right. The two were initially skeptical of each other; Bach owns the team he drives for so he wouldn't be able to give Dalca the basically unlimited money Kistler gave him, and Bach was well aware of Dalca's habbit of beating and banging on cars would cost him. But the two hit it off in their first meeting, and Dalca signed a contract to crew chief Bach. The two participated in several testing sessions and Alabackian Super Stockcar Series races before the beginning of the season, and they seemed to be a good pairing, despite the cultural differences. But the season would show just how good of a pairing they really were.

The Race For The Cup

Bach celebrating with his crew after
winning the championship.

The season started out engulfed in drama, as Bach and Weller wrecked on the last lap of the last corner of the Baytona 500; Bach was leading, Weller was in second, and Tjurgard was in third and he got collected in the crash too, as was Nadia Trauth and Kurt Henninger who were running fifth and sixth respectively. Caroline Eisner, who was running sixth, managed to dodge the crash and won. It was quite the spectacular crash too; Bach's car actually went airborne and flipped in the air, but he was fine.

The next races saw Bach Racing dominate, both Alex Bach and Lagan Parkle got wins. Several other teams sneaked wins in here and there; Crocetta Corsetti also scored his first win at the Norefelk Bars 200, Hunter Keselmann, Gagarin Vityanilo, Baldur Huwyler, and Nadia Trauth also scored wins. Vasili Alesnaro also went on a tear in the mid and late season, scoring three wins and a lot of top tens.

Weller scored his lone win of the season at the Glenigrad 355 giving a big boost to his points standings. Vasili Alesnaro won the Clayyard 400 presented by Kordlun Hardware also giving him a boost to his points standings, and going into the Callum Corp 500 Weller, Alesnaro, and Bach were only seperated by about 15 points. Bach claimed the win at the Callum Corp 500 after a hard fought battle with Weller, which gave him some breathing room going into Azaltan.

Going into the Wentz 400 Bach had the points lead, with Weller in second and Alesnaro in a distant, but still cup-capable, third. Alesnaro was fast in practice and qualifying, and scored the pole position. Weller was also fast in practice, but one of this pistons blew up in qualifying, meaning he had to replace his engine, meaning he also started at the back. Bach had trouble getting his car right in qualifying, but was able to get it somewhat figured out in qualifying.

Weller, who was absolutely driven by his thirst for a championship, worked his way through the field and passed Alesnaro, who was fast when the sun was out but once the moon came out Alesnaro's car slowed fast. Bach meanwhile was running steady all race, mainly because Dalca was running an experimental setup and wanted Bach to take it easy for the first half of the race so he could get data.

Weller was running up front towards the end, but now that they got their car figured out Bach was able to pass him outright with 37 laps to go. Bach won the race and Weller fell back and finished 4th; his team, like Alesnaro, was fast when the sun was out, but once the stars came out their cars slowed.

Bach thus claimed his seventh championship. He's now just one cup away from tying the all-time championship record with Rickie Johnsen, Erik Trustmanster, and Ryan Vic. During his win celebration, he took a victory lap around the speedway, but with his two daughters also in the car with him, which was truly one of those special moments we all watch GASCAR for.

Histoy Hub: Rickie Johnsen Becomes the first non-Ankraidian driver to win in Alaback.

Rickie Johnsen's iconic number Chalger #16.

Stock car racing’s “home” has always been in Ankraid, and in particular Alaback. Not until recently, with GASCAR’s success, has the world seen a global premier stock car racing league. Instead, if stock car racing fans outside of Ankaird were lucky, their nation would have its own stock car racing league, but few nations really had national stock car leagues, most only had regional ones.

One such nation that had a national stock car league was Skahyahn; Skahyahn’s “Championship Speed Contest Series”, or CSCS for short. The league was considered to be the most competitive outside of Ankraid, and so the most successful drivers in the CSCS would try and break into the Ankraidian scene, often with little success sadly. The fact was that Ankraidians lived and breathed stock car racing, like how Ulutorians live and breathe smashball, and that made trying to break into the Ankraidian scene hard for any non-Ankradians.

But to every rule, there is an exception. And our exception here is Rickie Johnsen. Johnsen won several track championships in the mid-60s before jumping up to the CSCS full-time in 1966. He went on to win the championship in CSCS in 1969, 1970, 1971, and the again in 1973. His untold domination in the CSCS led many to wonder if he’d jump ship to Ankraid. But the trip was expensive if you did not have connections in Ankraid (Johnsen didn’t), but Johnsen had been saving up money for just that trip.

He decided to compete in several summer races in the 1974 SCARL season (the top stock car series in Alaback at the time) which he though he had the best chance in. He competed in the 1974 National 300, Southwestern 400, and the Darn Good Spark Plugs 400. Sadly, not much is known about the races (these three races were minor races, and minor races did not get TV or flag-to-flag coverage until the early 1980s). The National 300 was cut short due to rain, and Johnsen finished 25th; in the Southwestern 400, Johnsen finished 14th. But he’d hit the bullseye in the Darn Good Spark Plugs 400; while not much is known about the race, we do know it had 40 lead changes (a record for the Nertoen Speedway); Johnsen led 61 laps that day, including the last eight as the leader’s clutch failed, thus winning the race.

While Johnsen would not run a full SCARL season until 1977, he would run the occasional race (sometimes for his own race team, sometimes filling in for other drivers). He’d win another race in 1975, and he’d eventually write himself into stock car history by winning eight championships in Alaback, tied with Erik Trustmanster and Ryan Vic for most of all time, and ranks in the top five for most wins in the three premier Alabackian stock car series. But those are all stories for another time.

Track Trivia

Gallediga Superspeedway as it stands today.

Next up on our track trivia is the fastest race track to ever be created by man; Gallediga Superspeedway. Gallediga is GASCAR's largest oval, measuring in at 2.66 miles long, and is also the steepest banked at 33° in the turns. And all of that makes Gallediga a fast, action-packed track, but first let's talk about its history.

SCARL originally wanted a track similar to Baytona; a long, high-banked and fast tri-oval. SCARL officials searched far and wide across Alaback, but ultimately decided to build their new track near the town of Saurier, in Gallediga County. Why? Because the Alabackian Air Force (AAF) had an airfield near Saurier, but after the end of WW2 the large air base was rarely used, and was costing the AAF and Saurier a lot of money to maintain. So, SCARL bought the air base on favorable terms in 1966 and began construction of their speedway that year.

Originally called Air Base International Motor Speedway, the track cost 4 million dolarks to build. First races were held in 1969, and instantly became a fan favorite. Since its opening year, Gallediga has hosted many races and has been repaved seven times; the track had two races in the SCARL league, and two races in the RallyRoad league as well. Because of the track's uniqueness, it has seen many first time winners and drama throughout its history.

Speeds at Gallediga are unmatched by any motorsport anywhere; in fact, in 1989, SCARL driver Tony Elluna posted a qualifying speed of 222.809 mph. During that same race, a car blew a tire and nearly flew into the grandstands, but was hit by another car which diverted its course away from the stands. Suffice to say, restrictor plates were added to all future races to slow the cars down. But even today, cars can reach 200 mph+ in the draft. Because of the close pack racing though, one mistake can create a junkyard of destroyed cars. Although uncommon, it's not unheard of to see 20 or more cars collected in the crashes. But the close racing and high speed mean Gallediga will be a favorite among drivers and fans alike.

Sponsor Spotlight

FoldingTrips' logo.

We put all the sponsors of races and all the primary sponsors of current GASCAR drivers into a raffle spinner, and the ball that came out said FoldingTrips! FoldingTrips is the current sponsor of the second race of the GASCAR season, the FoldingTrips 500 at Palm Mile in Alaback. FoldingTrips has sponsored races at Palm Mile for over 50 years, because Palm Mile is where the company’s headquarters is at.

FoldingTrips is a travel agency which promises to “give the same experience for half the price” (much like a folded piece of paper, hence the name, FoldingTrips). Founded in 1996, the company is one-part online and one-part physical. FoldingTrips.com is an aggregator website for airline/train tickets, event tickets, hotel room/lodging reservations, bookings, and provides information on tourist attractions in locations (like zoos, amusement parks, museums, etc.) They even allow users to make restaurant reservations, rent cars in advance, and book cruises.

FoldingTrips also has a physical element; on the website users can buy suitcases, travel packs, and various other vacation and travel related goods. Users can also join the FoldingTrips Members Club and receive a rewards card and earn rewards not just for buying and using FoldingTrip services, but also using and buying from places and companies partnered with FoldingTrips.

They also provide information and services for international travel. This includes passport, visa, and paperwork help, and they even provide information on local customs. FoldingTrips also has a vast number of tour guides/interpreters for people traveling abroad.

Suffice to say, FoldingTrips lives up to its name. As you might of guessed by how old the company is and the number of services they offer, FoldingTrips is extremely profitable, even more so in this era of looser-borders and globalization. But when GASCAR went global, oh boy, did FoldingTrips really start printing money. The company partnered with GASCAR in its early days to allow Alabackian GASCAR fans to travel to the new international races, and that is a tradition the two companies still do today. Suffice to say, as GASCAR has become more popular, so to has FoldingTrips. One could even say that as long as GASCAR is successful, FoldingTrips will be.

Today in Filo City, a revolutionary concept has come to fruition. Earlier today, testing for the Aegis Walker ended in success. The Aegis Walker has been a program by the Chinernian government to develop a sort of exosuit underframe for use in both civilian and military sectors. It features high torque knee wheel systems and a pressure-flow system that allows unrivaled agility and mobility. Weighing in at a hefty 275 kilograms and standing at a height of 260 cm, the Aegis Walker can lift many times its own weight. They can be customized with specialized armor to protect the operator. What kind of armor depends on what the Walker is used for. Currently, the government is looking for more civilian usages of the suit alongside loading and unloading cargo. trials with different armaments and armor levels is currently underway at Fort Vukani.

In other news, the arms manufacturing industry in Chinern has grown exponentially in the past decade. Leading the nation in production is the Mpika Concern, producing various assault rifles, machineguns, and anti-tank weaponry. The MC produces a solid 85% of all small arms in Chinern, followed by the Ulstin Industrial Association which designs and manufactures another 10%. Currently, the Mpika Concern is looking to export arms and equipment abroad to other members of the Sixth Internationale, or any other Toraist nation looking to arm itself.

Council of Advisers Elections Approach

The time has once again come to elect or re-elect the members of the Council of Advisers. But before we start nominations for the Council of Advisers, the nations of the United Nations (UN) will first vote on a proposal to reorganize the Council of Adviser from six members to seven.

The proposal, which was presented to the General Assembly by North Nebraska earlier today, will eliminate the Welfare Adviser and the Founder role and replace them with a Justice Adviser, Social/Labor Adviser, and a Science/Space Adviser. This also means that the CoA will expand from six members to seven, meaning it can no longer be deadlocked with a dead even vote as it has several times in the past. Additionally, the proposal will have the Economic Adviser take up the role of the GEO and the IBI.

The Justice Adviser will be responsible for prosecuting war criminals, breakers of international law, etc. They'll also be the head of InterPo, the organization that facilitates worldwide police cooperation and crime control, and will also help developing nations build their police and judicial branches. The Science/Space Adviser will be responsible for regulating science and space and promoting international cooperation in those areas. Finally, the Social/Labor Adviser will be responsible for promoting culture, advising nations on how to deal with social unrest/issues, be the adviser that deals with issues relating to indigenous peoples, and of course advising nations on labor rights/laws.

The proposal gained the support of Zambet Fata and Nedporen, meaning it will head to the General Assembly to be voted upon.

Insurgents Clash With Foreign Military Forces
Just recently, a large group of BVM insurgents laid siege to Rodnøl, the capital city of Vastergötland Province.

Oliandirian troops in conjuction with Tirfyngian Marines of the 1st Amtrak Divisie are currently holding their positions despite the fierce tenacity of the Toraist insurgents' attacks. The city is reportedly being shelled "day and night" with no interlude in between.

Meanwhile, five Anthacian soldiers were killed in a tragic terrorist attack in Mondstadt when BVM supporters detonated a car bomb in the vicinity of the Mondstadt Military Outpost. 25 Tirfyngian soldiers and three other civilians were also injured in the attack. A manhunt is underway to capture these BVM ruffians and bring them to justice.

Three Years a President
In the end, the Azaltanian voter got what they wanted with President Tims, regardless of their political affiliation. President Tims promised an uneventful six year term, and in three years that has been true. Very little exciting news has left Azaltan, just as the administration promised. A Boring President, and a Boring Administration.

As such, very few people expected the completely out of left field event that was announced over the presses and televisions when Eric Tims, President of Azaltan...

announced his completed arrangements with the Government of Chinern to make an official state visit, a first in the history of Chinernian-Azaltanian Relations, but perhaps even a first in Chinernian History. The people of Azaltan were then treated to camera footage of President Tims disembarking from the Presidential Aircraft at Dziva Matonga International and being ushered into an awaiting car. We here at the Champion were honestly disappointed to learn that footage of the accompanying events haven't been fully revealed the public, but we did get the leaked itenerary of President Tims and his entourage. It was honestly mostly few trips to various important cultural locations within the capital: Museums, Churches, Famous Public Squares, and of course Monuments to the many achievements and sacrifices of the Chinernian People. We were also lucky to be granted access to watching some of the footage, which to our surprise was footage of President Tims addressing the Chinernian Presidium. Speaking through a Translator, our fair President spoke of the historic relations that Azaltan and Chinern have made with each other over several years, bringing up the past several years of the Koth, Todd, and Kor Administrations, how they remained strong despite 20 Years of the Navy, and have continued to blossom under himself. He ended with "If the relations between our countries can prove anything, our two countries being so different; it proves that no matter what anyone says, we can all be united in our goals for a better, kinder world." The last statement was met with quiet acceptance from the Presidium, and President Tims was escorted outside where he did field a few questions, and he stood for a few photos.

All in all, we here at the Champion would consider that a very productive trip.

Nominations are now open for the following positions: Defense Adviser & Economic Adviser

The incumbents are automatically nominated. Nominations will end for these positions in 48 hours (IRL).

I nominate myself for Economic Adviser.
