Portsdale Industries

As is well known, Rechian society is largely divided between citizens and subjects; citizens are those who have consented to the state through the act of voting, making up 84% of the population. The remaining 16% of the state, known as 'Subjects,' have decided not to consent to state authority, and retain merely rights to healthcare, security and equality under the law. They may also retain private property, though this property may be subject to taxes, which are still far lower than taxes paid by citizens.

Just one year after adopting the new system, Recheve announced that they had eliminated unemployment and poverty amongst citizens. Subjects, however, still maintained a 1% unemployment rate. Typically either very wealthy business owners, middle-class merchants or entrepreneurs, Subjects live in a high-risk environment where the rewards are high but the stakes are higher. As such, many Subjects often find themselves unexpectedly bankrupt or out of work.

Though this issue has been treated by Back To Work programs and employment offices, Parliament just has taken their involvement a step further, issuing the "Subiectum Laboris Consilium." Any Subjects who are unemployed or part-time can work in Portsdale Industries, a subsidiary of Gründer. They either work producing goods on the floor or are distributed amongst various positions, providing output for the Rechian economy. The profits from the sale of goods are split between all the workers equally, with all infrastructure and additional capital maintained by the government.

The goal of this development is simply to get unemployed individuals some form of income, guaranteed at 0.01M above the minimum wage. With this new industry in place, the Dual Kingdom hopes to finally eliminate its lingering 0.16% unemployment rate, and ensure maximum productivity for the state.

Tourism Recovery

Though it's been a slow climb back from the depths of the Rechian Wars, Recheve's tourism industry has finally recovered. Still a beautiful mosaic of traditions and peoples, the historical and cultural dimensions of Rechian society have begun to lure tourists to the Dual Kingdom once again, resorts and museums rebuilt or restored.

Of special significance is Recheve's exploding music industry, featuring such bands as Terminal Transition, KTR II, The Woodburns and many more. Complimenting the established venues like the Royal Emden Theatre, the Rechian Opera Company and the Ofnir Memorial Theatre District, these new attractions continue to draw visitors at rates increases year by year.

It’s disturbing how many American politicians immediately began to use these atrocities as ammo. It was almost instantaneous.

Never underestimate the ability of people to take advantage of any available ammunition regardless of it's source, especially if they are as disconnected with the "other people" as most american politicians are.

Eastern Union
With the offer of membership on the table, the Hilexian Caucus have maintained their continued support, without saying much about if they would fully commit or decline the offer, however the rumour is that they would much prefer to hold onto their current standing, whereby they are allowed to enter discussions, but hold no voting sway within the Union.
When pushed for more, the Exterior Minister simply raised an eyebrow, then asked for the next question.
In the same press conference, the Interior Minister stated that military training as been tripled in recent months, due to increasing aggressive posturing throughout the region. He also questioned the Eucadian trade figures incoming and outgoing, as there has been not too many notices regarding the occasional missing cargo meant for the capital.

EDIT: [OOC] That's an open line RP for anyone willing to jump in. I just wanna see how you guys go with it :)

A Title Worth a Million Words
Hasty footsteps echoed through the marble halls of the Imperial Administratum’s center of operation, the Imperial Nautica. A messenger, with summation of relevant information of events from across the globe compacted into a single report document, moved towards the Head Office of the Imperator Titanicus, the Emperor’s personal office. This was a part of his daily routine, a common occurrence that was for the most part of little importance to the well-oiled cogs & gears of the efficient Imperial bureaucratic machine, but one of great convenience to the Emperor’s Office. It was a task of great honor, despite its monotony, as it meant direct contact with the Emperor, a privilege provided to few men. However on this day, thing were different, the messenger was in an anxious state, walking with such haste through the halls that one could swear there were times when both feet were in the air, almost as if he was running or jogging.

The courier walked through halls, took a series of elevators, and at times even rushed up flights of stairs to reach the Head Office with post haste. Not even replying to the front desk secretary, or wishing the Guards a “good morning”, he flashing his identification and rushed through the large and intricately carved oak wood doors of the office.

The Emperor’s attention had turned to the man, as he adjusted the position of his smoke pipe from the comfort of his swivel chair. Koldus’s greetings to the man were met with nothing, other than a hastened approach towards his desk. The panic & sweat on the courier’s forehead became all to evident when the man raised his shaking hand and placed the document on Koldus’s desk.

Arranged for maximum efficiency the document was presented in order of most relevant to least relevant; All it took for Koldus to understand the man’s fear was to read the header of the first document. “Eastern Union Super-State Formed”, Koldus adjusted his reading glasses hoping he had misread the title, but he did not. Koldus and his courier shared a look of worry, before Koldus spoke.

“Prepare the Globe, and fetch my editorial staff. A great struggle has been born this day, and I intend to speak my mind on it.”

(OOC: The “Globe” refers to the Globe Theater within the Imperium Capital.)

THE EASTERN ARMED FORCES

Today is ground-breaking day. For the first time, all the militaries of the Eastern Union will be united under a single banner, increasing the size of the already monstrous Union military. Changes will doubtless be occurring, but for now the militaries will be integrated into a multinational coalition. Below are the details of that coalition, and the responsibilities its components will take.

The United Armed Forces

This is the single title under which every military force shall be coordinated, and is represented by a small groups of military leaders. At the very head is Supreme Commander Alexandros Poliamanos, son of the Rechian King Andrios XVI and former Praefecti Supremus. He will be the commander in chief of the largest single military force every assembled, with billions of soldiers and an unfathomable industrial backing. At his side will be Commander Erlyn Vasha Gron dander Krixholme, a Stadtd war hero and tested veteran of the Rechian Wars.

The remaining War Council will be filled out by eight notable officers: Commander Mick Guerney (RVE), Commander Bryce Morrissey (RVE) Commander Philip Thames (EUD), Commander Soruwa Aishi (SRV), Commander Bjorn Jugov (DKN), Commander Luc Huyger (SFN), Commander Tom Aamsend (DML) and Commander Aiv Izano (IST). All these men are career soldiers, men who've risen through the ranks and who represent the spirit of the EAF.

The Union Defence Forces

The land-based branch, the UDF will be comprised of Fencible Legions and Expeditionary Legions. Fencible Legions will be formed out of existing national militaries, and will be fixed in place. The Rechian Fencibles, for example, will be made up of Rechians and will serve in Recheve. Their equipment will be specialized and designed for use within their operational zones, though will still be standardized as much as possible. For example, Eucadian Fencibles stationed in the arid Pandoran mountains will wear grey variants of the standard F1 Fatigues, while Shriven Fencibles in the deserts will wear sandstone.

Even though these Fencibles will be formed and operated within separate nations, all their training will be standardized and performed within developmental Legions, side-by-side with men preparing for the Expeditionary Legions. Emphasis will be placed on the multicultural and united culture of the Armed Forces, and Fencibles will be expected to swear loyalty to the EAF directly rather than any national government.

Expeditionary Legions are simply the existing UDF Legions, which will be altered in classification only. Beyond that, they will remain largely unchanged. Strategically however, the creation of Fencibles will allow these units to move far more often, moving between various nations and holdings. While they will have official Headquarters and will not be broken apart at the Division level, they will be trained to perform in every biome accessible, and will be operated as a mobile, offensive force to compliment the static, defensive nature of the Fencibles.

The UDF Legions will be commanded by Field Marshals, while the UDF itself will be under the command of Commander Roland Leandros.

The Union Air Force

The UAF will change very little, and existing national squadrons will simply be added to existing Squadrons. All aircraft and squadrons will be standardized under the same equipment, unit structure and designation systems, and will be operated centrally with officers granted a considerable amount of autonomy at the national level. The UAF will be commanded by Air Marshal Luke Sherwood, a veteran Belkan pilot.

The Union Naval Force

The UNF, like the UAF, will not change much. Instead, the EAF will establish numerous additional fleets and distribute its new craft into each, forming equal Carrier Groups, Strike Groups and Battlegroups. As ships grow older and are stricken from the records, they will be replaced by centralized classes and designs, making each of these fleets balanced and consistent across the board. The UNF will be led by Admiral Thomas Walker IV, a descendent of multiple famous naval commander from throughout history.

Smoke Out
Honston, The Federal Republic of Bailgean
21st National Defence Brigade
September 24th, 26 3E

"GET READY!"

The troopers looked up from their boots at their Lieutenant Colonel, standing at the door to the helicopter's cockpit. There was a roar as two jets passed by at around Mach 2, the chopper rocking from the shock. "Blast and Pass" operations had become standard for the Bailean Defence Forces; jets would fly in behind a chopper formation, with a leading gunship attracting fire and marking targets. Once the primary enemy defence line appears, the jets would accelerate and dump ordnance over their positions, the heat and smoke preventing accurate RPG fire as the helicopters fly through. The rebels couldn't shoot down jets at full speed, and the choppers only needed a short window to bypass their range. It was bloody and dangerous work, but it was the only way to reach the rebel ammunition dumps, preventing the spread of firearms to Bailean cities.

The explosions echoed in the distance, napalm and daisy cutters shredding the enemy positions. As the formation glided over the enemy positions, only about a dozen smoke trails rose to meet them, all missing their targets and drifting off into the endless blue. Within ten seconds, they were over the primary defence line, heading quickly towards the main camps.

A second round of explosions were audible over the sound of the rotors, a second wave of fighters hitting the camps. The Lieutenant Colonel stepped back from the cockpit and grasped a handle overhead with white knuckles, motioning for the men to brace themselves.

"TWENTY SECONDS OUT!"

Clutching their rifles, their painted faces etched with concern and fear, the men clenched their bodies as they felt the craft descending. The gunfire grew louder as they approached the enemy, starting to ricochet off the fuselage while they touched down.

"GO! GET OUT OF HERE!"

The craft's two doors opened and the men dashed out, keeping their heads low and firing into the smoke that surrounded them. The disciplined crews had been planning the raid for months, and each soldier knew where their friendly craft were, adjusting their fire accordingly. By the time the smoke cleared and visibility returned, only one man had been wounded by friendly fire.

Nonetheless, the enemy began sending rounds at the Baileans more accurately. The choppers took off and provided cover with door guns, but quickly removed themselves from the area as RPGs started rising to meet them. About three minutes after touching down, the men of the 21st NDB were on their own.

Refusing to concede momentum, they boldly advanced into enemy fire. Their objectives were simple: blow stuff up, burn stuff down, and eliminate the enemy. At this they were adept; every other man was laden down with a submachine gun, explosives and grenades, his partner covering him with an assault rifle. They set to work pinning and flanking groups of enemies, most of whom had fled to spider holes or reinforced positions. Underbarrel grenade launchers took care of sandbag emplacements while grenades and C4 were flung into fighting holes, the bloody progress of the assault marked by the explosions creeping outwards from the LZ.

One hour after deployment, the main ammunition dumps had all been fixed with explosives. Once this was confirmed the 21st began to withdraw in towards the centre of the camp, a raised position the Engineers had reinforced with hastily dug foxholes and trenches. As they pulled back the Baileans detonated the ammo dumps, catching hundreds of rebels in the blasts. They were harassed as they withdrew all the way to the rear positions, men falling as they rose from cover. In operations like these there was always a very brief window for retrieval. The men would be surrounded and charged, and in most cases they would collapse in upon themselves.

While the Baileans were excellent at planning and execution, they were not naturally born soldiers. Many of them were actually conscripts, and even the volunteers had only been serving since independence was declared. Anybody with experience became an officer, and in turn became a prime target for rebel snipers. In order for the men to get out alive, the timing had to be perfect.

Unfortunately, in this case it was not. One of the jets had been downed by a camouflaged SAM, and an additional pilot had to be dispatched. The exfil force would be ten minutes late. In this time, mortars began to fire on the 21st, and machine guns were deployed to pin them down. The casualty rate grew from 35% to 45%, then on to 55%. Two waves of enemies were repulsed, but the stress began to show. The Baileans were flirting with a last stand when their allies finally arrived.

The order was given to take cover and the men ducked into their fighting holes, the force barely managing to button up before two fighter-bombers unloaded SFFS bomblets all over the area. Though they tried to avoid friendly positions, the fighting had been too desperate, and accuracy could not guaranteed; fifteen Baileans were caught in the explosions, six killed immediately and nine sustaining serious injuries. Nonetheless, a window had been opened.

Rising from a clearing to the north of the fighting, the choppers returned to the battlefield and touched down all at once, men scrambling into their cabins in no particular order. The 21st's "Tigermoms" made one final sweep for friendlies before giving the choppers the thumbs up, hopping on board the choppers which were starting to attract fire again. They rose quickly and violently, scattering to avoid RPGs, a few erupting in flames when hit and spinning down into the jungle below. Luckily these were a minority, and the majority of the aircraft regrouped in safer territory, circling back home the long way. Behind them, eight fighters swept in at low altitude, unloading a cocktail of destruction on the ruins of the camp below. Officially this final strike was to hit the enemies while they were still condensed, but in reality the strikes were intended to kill any Bailean survivors who had been left behind. It was a final act of mercy, sparing the men the inevitable atrocities that would be inflicted upon them should they be captured.

Strikes like these occurred every month, and inflicted astonishing casualties on either side. It was the only way for the Baileans to reach the rebel dumps, protected against airstrikes by thick concrete bunkers. As long as the rebels remained a threat, these operation would continue, and more Baileans would die. Without foreign support, the war would continue until one side ran out of men.

Bailgean Requests Foreign Support

The most stable government in Telemarcia, the Federal Republic of Bailgean is fighting for its life. Made up of the states of Theemun, Kalenzee, Est Seraphia and Morenia, Bailgean has been the target of repeated invasions over the past decades. While holding its own against its neighbours in The First and Second Cocoa Wars, recent actions against Bailgean by rebel groups have threatened all the progress made since those conflicts.

Of special importance are artillery and aircraft, with heavy munitions capable of penetrating thick reinforced positions. Bailgean's current fleet of fighter-bombers pre-date 2250, and are Telemarcian-made without many spare parts available. The 68 fighters available in 2292 has shrunk to just 20, with the remainder scrapped for parts. Any aid would be appreciated, and Bailgean would be willing to provide access to its immense reserves of coffee, cocoa and bronze.

Recheve Warns EU Against Bailean Pan-Rechianism

The Dual Kingdom has officially advised the EU against supporting Bailgean, citing the nation's Ellengri-nationalism, which has oddly been paired with a large and devout Seraphic population. Though the Federal Republic is currently under a wartime government, essentially ruled by four leaders of mixed ethnicity and faith, the majority Ellengri and Stadtd populations have displayed extreme interest in the Pan-Rechian movement, a growing network of Rechian peoples vehemently opposed to the Eastern Union. These individuals have close ties to Belkan Nationalists, Bellam Seperatists, Seraphic dissidents and Cardinale extremists, making them one of the greatest threats to internal security for the Union.

The situation is complicated by the presence of Ghelt and East Seraphia, neighbouring Seraphic states opposed to Bailean possession of the region's cocoa and coffee plantations. Having fought Bailgean twice during The Cocoa Wars, these opponents make intervention a prickly process, especially given the geopolitical turmoil in South Daemondriael caused by The Whisper War.

Like Varus Across the Rhine

Fortis Uestitik stood as a bastion due to its irrelevance. Firmly planted the gray boundaries what divide Sahma Daemonda along the Eulessian Mountain Range, it was ceded to Uelvan apart of its triumph over Recheve. Scarce did it ever occupy more than a scant few, enough to hold down the fort. Its peace was upheld like a spiraling disc upon the tip of a nimble wand like a cheap parlor trick. Telemarcia has always been a dangerous wilderness for the men here; governments came and fell, warlords at times controlled the area, and gangs were increasingly hard to distinguish from the law if you could even trust a man in a uniform anymore. While it was more like home than most soldiers couped up in that deathtrap were willing to admit, it was also a grim reminder of what Uelvan used to resemble. A time of utter darkness and savagery that was the Anarchic Period. Of course that was the bullshìt they were fed. Conventionally, they left out the part where the Hilexians' intervention caused the Kayçardom to radicalize even further into its extreme form that ended up engulfing Uelvan in a wake of fire and tyranny.

Looming over the horizon was this mammoth of a super-state never before seen in human history, and should war break out between any member of the Xandaran Pact and this empire, this fort would likely be the first to go. Fortis Uestitik had a narrow gap of time to secure its existence and it would be turning its head south. It was thus that an urgent call shot forth to this little fort and panicked army-wenches scurried about to find their leader. He lumbered to the phone hungover from another night of trying to kill himself through alcohol poisoning.

"Defensar Valens Tyrrifari, this is Alpha-Protector Claudik Aerfridga of the South Andarlands Legate. I am under orders to inform you that due to the situation in Telemarcia you are to hereby authorized to pass a vote in favor of the Mahema Aggression Act within your compound and seize the Eulessian mountains and the lands to the east in favor of the Xandaran Pact." Her voice was very calm but laden with that stereotypical Andari accent. So calm was she that it chilled Valens' churning hot guts. "The local Eulessian Population is somewhat favorable towards us, given that we have largely supplied them with guns and drugs for the the past couple of decades but do not get too cautious. We suspect that we have crossed the path of at least 17 noteworthy cartels in the region, and intelligence confirms that a meeting of occurred 2 nights ago with representatives from 11 of those cartels all present. We are not going to even suggest that some petty gangs are any match for the might of Uelvan..." She drew a breath and sighed.

"What are you suggesting, ma'am?" Valens replied with a bad omen looming over his left shoulder, as if some villain from the grave was haunting him at that moment.

"I regret to inform you that we will not be sending you full supplies for the an indeterminate amount of time, the recent shortages have demanded that we cut spending on all strategically expendable outposts."

Valens gripped his fist into a ball, "That Progressive bastard!" He snapped back in anger, referencing the political clout that surrounded the current Grand Protector. The Science-Progressives were a breed who were so devoted to the pursuit of developing Uelvan's space program that they'd gladly cut expenses at every corner just to do it. Within certain circles of the military they were given a bad name or viewed with mistrust due to their ties with Hyperborea and Gohimahi.

Alpha-Protector Claudik stayed calm, clearly out of harm's way and replied, "I understand your frustration, Defensar, but there is nothing we can do. Our Grand Protector just fundamentally does not understand the situation and overestimates our strength. The Andari Republic has tried to convince him that it would be irresponsible to cut funding and expand at the same time but he is convinced we can make a Eulessian Free State by next year." How would this be possible, Valens wondered. Before he got a word out of his mouth she did her best to affirm him, "I am going to oversee this operation and if Ghurbag is willing, the Confederate Congress will award us a triumph as thanks." she hummed proudly, the first time displaying any character. Yet it was still so robotic, as if this woman was indoctrinated by Uelvanian professionalism- to lesser and dumber men this might inspire confidence but Valens knew better.

"Alright, just send your drones over and I'll have a plan laid out by the end of the month." This was a tall order to fulfill, and though Uelvan was a colossus of military might it was in a springtime of gaiety and optimistic bliss. Very real men would pay the price for this. It almost made Valens want the Materialists back in office.

"Thanks... and Valens. I do ask that you trust me. I am representing Uelvan in the Chronos Academy and it would be an absolute embarrassment if we failed this operation."

"I- alright, I will do my best." With that she hung up on him. Valens was left to ponder on that hefty load of gravity by-which fate bore down upon his neck like a sadistic whore. He hadn't much faith in the Chronos Academy himself, viewing it as an even more posh and elitist school for an already elite class of men. He retired to his dormitory that night and hit the books. He studied Kayçar Ştrabo and his ability to divide his enemies against one another. Most modern accounts describe him as a monster, but those books which survived Calvik's cyber-purges and the Second Adriatican Invasion were the ones Valens was interested in. He did not care for the morals of his day. He only wanted to get out of this alive, and if there was one bastard who knew how to dominate a lawless wasteland it was he.

Deaconship Election Draws Near; EU Could See Lost of Investment as Pros and Cons of Choir Election Outcomes are Balanced
The most important election in the short history of the Refuge State is fast approaching. The Deacons that seek election to the Seraphic Choir (similar to the senates and parliaments of other, secular nations) will then vote on the future of the Ivory Throne of the Korahlian Empire. While Irelyn and the Morien Loyalists remained barricaded in Sephanos Castle, the "rightful" successor Bowsette Sephanos faces competition from her cousin Abhishek Tarun for the role as leader of the Al-Sephani clan.
One of the major issues that candidates for the Choir are running on is international allegiance: Would they support cooperation with the Eastern Union, Xandaran Pact, or neither? former Ayamir Ishan Sephanos was supported independently by several XP nations, while the Morien Loyalists were equally backed by members of the Eastern Union. With the recent actions of Shrive and the operations across the holy land by Recheve and EU operators, the public of the Refuge State are largely hesitant on voting for candidates that support the Morien Loyalists because of the connotations of allegiances with the Eastern Union. On the other hand, Seraphicism is popular among XP nations and none of them have disrupted Korahlian life and toppled democracies to replace them with puppets. While pro-Morien presence in the Choir seems slim, it is not impossible for the EU to repair their reputation with the people of Korahlia.

Pro-EU
"Foot in the door" to the Eastern world and largely untouched cultures to Korahlia
Access to Kori refugee communities and easier support for these people
Korahlia can offer superior medical technologies to militant nations
Naval trade with Recheve, easy to maintain trade routes

Anti-EU
Imperialist approaches in Sahma Daemonda
"Un-Seraphic" and "Un-Jas'Kori" politics and occupation in the holy land
High chance of being drawn into wars waged by Recheve
Dae'Kori history as victims of eastern attacks

Pro-XP
Trusted allies in Uelvan and Unitopia
"Trust-able" allies in Nandorine and Candaya
Return to Iaezandria-era politics and trade
Strong military protection

Anti-XP
Zemoro and Seraphic "perversions"

Tonight’s theological debate, where did the island of Okurimono come from and is it holy?

The thirteen priests sit in a circle in the temple building of the Sunken Castle, each one is in front of the sign that corresponds to their god. Lunaïs sits in the middle. She faces Gonaïs for it is the month of Gona, the war god. Water flows through the ancient plumbing in the walls, moving the stone circles that make up the floor so that the calendar lines up to the correct day. Water vapours fill the room with the glow of Luna’s light, the bioluminescence of the mushroom is noticeable even in death, and it’s psychedelic effects are as strong as ever. Now possessed by the gods, each priest recites their own declaration.

Lunaïs: Gonaïs, it is the month of Gona, the war god. What would you like to bring the holy council’s attention to?

Gonaïs: The island of Okurimono has entered my domain of interest. With Shrivan soldiers being stationed there who now carry my blessing, don’t you think it’s time to discuss the elephant in the room?

Dunaïs: What have I to do with this?

Lunaïs: I know elephants are a symbol of Duna but it’s a figure of speech. What exactly is this elephant in the room?

Gonaïs: Is Okurimono sacred? The creation only mentions Luna casting down three mountains, how can there be another so close to us?

Tainaïs: Maybe it, like the other lands, was granted by al’Terra.

Gonaïs: Well that just raises another question, who prayed for it?

Lunaïs: And what are the implications of whatever conclusion we come to?

Gonaïs: I imagine if we find it to be holy land we can’t let Shrivan troops stay.

Lunaïs: Why not?

Kunaïs: They aren’t the children of the first Lunaïs. If we let them live on the land granted to her children, we might just as well all go worship Re.

Kanaïs: Why does descent matter? I mean, if Re cursed the first Lunaïs with mortality then how was she greater than any other human?

Several members of the council begin to formulate an indignant response. Lunaïs hushes them.

Lunaïs: My dear, the first Lunaïs had a hundred children with no pain. She could carry them all up the mountainside and built cities with her bare hands. Don’t you think godliness is more than just immortality?

Kanaïs: I guess you’re right.

Lunaïs: I want this to be a learning experience for all of you. It’s okay to ask questions like that. Furthermore, when we try to be like the gods, it isn’t just about immortality, it’s also about being like Lunaïs I, she was mortal but still had godly powers. Now, back to our original topic.

Gonaïs: How did the middle islands come to be? Those are sacred and yet they are not one of the three mountains.

Lunaïs: Dust from the impact.

Gonaïs: So then could Okurimono also have been dust raised up from the impact?

Kenaïs: I think it’s too big...

Gonaïs: Good point. So is there any opposition to the idea of it being granted by al’Terra, making it not holy land?

The council is silent

Lunaïs: Who’s land was it?

Kenaïs: Someone Pandoran probably. But it doesn’t really matter.

Lunaïs: Why do you say that?

Kenaïs: Ours is the only legitimate homeland. The others were extorted from al’Terra.

Gonaïs: We should let Shrive stay. They’re helping us a lot.

Sonaïs: I know that Okurimono isn’t sacred land because Nuflaria has a tropical climate whereas Okurimono is semi desert. Therefore it has not been blessed by Sona.

Lunaïs: Let it be known that we, the chosen of the gods support Shrive’s military presence on Okurimono.

I basically just did this as an example of what a meeting of the holy council would be like. If you want to learn more about Nuflarian religion go to my fact book called the Holy Engraving

The Eastern Beast

(As promised, took me 8 hours but its finally done, enjoy.)

Koldus stepped up to the podium of the Globe Theater, wiping away the last dizzle of sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief. Before him and around him stood a crowd of a few thousand, primarily his advisors and relevant personnel standing or sitting, awaiting his speech. Koldus was to address his people in response to the formation of the Eastern Super-State.

He stood there for moments relishing in the clarity of mind the visible silence gave him, before gripping the sides of the podium tightly. The Camera began to roll.

"Friends, Family, Countrymen. We stand in an age unlike any to which it proceeds. An age that, to me, appears darker than any other point in the history of our world. In the east a state of unrivaled size has established itself. A state whose very nature and existence is a threat to all those that would call themselves nations of reason.

The fact that even the enlightened states of Tuvhalia would consider its formation beneficial serves to paint a more decrepit picture of the future than any other event in recorded history. We stand, and we watch the Eastern Beast in its birthing throes as it claims its territory. Sovereigns states that once held their own self-determination now so quickly accept the removal of their own freedom of will, their people chained under a central authority that merely claims to represent them.

This beast strips away all that maketh a nation; the ability to make one's own laws, for this task has been ushered to its Central Committee; the ability to defend one's own national borders, for its military control was removed from the hands of sovereign nation and placed into the claws of the Central Committee; and the ability to dictate one's own national actions, for this too was relinquished to the iron grip of the Central Committee. These are but few of the transgressions against national self-determination. This beast strips away the rights of its member states to enforce the rights of its own ideology, or more accurately the rights of the ideology which governs its master.

The Eastern Beast, that nigh comically stands against every value of the Xandaran Pact and the Imperium, seeks to strip thousands of years of nationhood from its new vassals. To spoils the untold labour, blood and riches spent to advance each state it now encompasses. And to create a centralized cacophony which can have but one puppet master. The beast may proclaim otherwise, however the existence of the puppet master is certain for that is the only way to keep its overbearing mass, population, and political structure in line. It shall slowly but surely degrade the remnants of the nations within it until they are nothing but a footnote in the memoirs of history.

I stand here burdened by the knowledge that even our cousins by blood, the Vanparians and Xandrians, have set themselves to follow such a dark path into the abyss. To know that their rich history and culture will likely be lost to this ideological monster that has stolen their will and consumed their freedom. To know that they gave up that which makes them strong so willingly in return for the “benefits” of such an abomination. Each step the eastern beast takes stripping away their sense of nation, their sense of identity, their sense of self.

The Eastern Union may have started as noble project, a collection of like minded states with focus on a centralizing authority; yet each was still its own entity; alive and breathing in its own right. Now that Eastern Union is gone, and with it the hopes of the Imperium. The Eastern Union had passed the point of no return and in its place sits the ravenous beast that will consume all it touches; just as a black hole consumes all mass past its event horizon. The only path of this creature is the centralization of power. The ever increasing expansion of the core bureaucracy until that power is inevitably gained by its puppet master of persuasion, and well after any of its former nations could hope to mount a fighting chance against this authority. Such is the threat presented by this super-state, this empire of puppets and master, and it is my belief that this threat will only grow. Grow into an empire that will threaten the very notion of national sovereignty.

***Pause***

There are many words of discouragement I could say now, none will suffice, fewer still will reach across the gap. For the Eastern Beast is already here and it has swept our eastern brethren into its fold like a tide sweeps sand. Only the actions of the nations which conceptualized it can change this. I apologize to leave you in such despair, uncertainty and lack of answers, but I have none to give myself. All I can say is that for now, we can only hope that the future this state follows is the right path, while preparing for the worst.

I leave you now with one final phrase.

Empires of great stature have riddled the historic landscape, all collapsed. The Eastern Union State presents itself as the greatest such empire in all recorded history. It is impossible to predict what future lays in its wake, whether it be good, bad, or neither. We Shall See."

Koldus proceeded to turn around, and leave the Globe Theater in awkward silence, none knew what to saw of his speech. For it simply put things into perspective. At this point the broadcast was terminated, and a still silence befell the Imperium.

EUCADIAN REFERENDUM ON EU CENTRALIZATION TAKES PLACE

Before President Stone added his signature to the document centralizing the Eastern Union, and removing large amounts of sovereignty from the Federation, he put the decision solely in the hands of the Eucadian people.

“I cannot make this monumental decision alone. I cannot determine the future of Eucadia without consulting the 16 billion people I’ve been elected to represent. The people will decide and that will ultimately make or break the Eastern Union.” said Stone in his address to the Legislature.

“I simply ask that everyone educate themselves on the pros and cons of the Eastern Union. And whatever the results are, we will honor.” said Stone.

Campaigns for the Centralization platform have begun to circulate literature and ads on various outlets, while the Sovereign platform is pushing hard for Eucadians to leave the EU entirely.

The referendum begins in three days. Until then, Eucadia remains on the fence about full centralization.

I mean, just to clarify for those who might not know, Titan’s using some hefty rhetoric. Don’t get the wrong impression about the new centralization.

Is it really that convincing?

If it is that convincing then it can clear be view as both potentially rhetoric, premonition or maybe something else entirely. The speech is open to interpretation after all.

”THIS WILL DRASTICALLY CHANGE THE FUTURE OF EUCADIA”

Eucadians were educated and asked to vote on a referendum on EU centralization. Today, the votes are in. Through mobile/computing voting methods, along with in person voting, 14 billion Eucadians shared their opinion with the world.

54.6% voted For.
45.4% voted Against.

“The EU was hoping for positive outcomes in Eucadia. Those results have been produced and this government will honor them. Today, Eucadia officially commits to centralization.” said President Stone.

“This referendum will drastically change the future of Eucadia.” he said.

EU offices will be converted into official government spaces that will be shared with Federation agencies.

A new look?

The Department of the Interior announced that new EU flags will be unveiled in the coming months that will provide the EU with consistency and identity among EU members now that there is full committal to centralization.

Chorus Voices Support for Emperor Koldus After Speech
Many throughout the Chorus- private citizen and politician alike- have viewed the recent statement by Emperor Koldus positively.
"It's a relief to see such a powerful leader and country acknowledge what the Eastern Union has become," an anonymous citizen said, "it felt like nobody else saw what I saw, but now I'm relieved that someone is speaking up about it."
Support for anti-EU Deaconship candidates has risen as they shift their positions to align themselves with Titananium against the "Eastern Beast", a term of Koldus' that has surged in popularity by anti-EU movements.

Radical Socialist Sees Path to Choir
Self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist Alandria Okaz vil Cori'tesh has surprised career politicians on her path to election to the Choir. The young Jas'Kori woman was discounted from the race but has proven Deacons wrong with a massive movement of young and hungry voters. While Okaz is not an official member of the DemSoc Party, she would likely be inducted upon victory.
Okaz is a part of a movement of Choir candidates aiming for the third monarchy option: A dissolution of the monarchy entirely and the restoration of the Daemondriael Federation-style government through the Choir

Bowsette Sephanos Slandered as "Next Artemis"
As part of an anonymous campaign likely staged to support her cousin, Bowsette Sephanos Al-Sephani has been labelled "The Next Artemis" in a new media campaign. Sephanos, a direct descendant of Artemis, has faced this battle for many years already for her physical resemblance to her ancestor and various rumours about her private life and violence in the bedroom.
With every passing day, it seems the battle for the throne will occur between Irelyn and Abhishek, not Bowsette.
