Greetings! Welcome to the West Pacific, I recommend reading our New Player Guide to understand more about the game and our region.

Redenya I assume that is roleplay? Please do not roleplay on the message board, we have a Discord server and forums for that. Check the RP Gateway dispatch for more information.

Sometimes I change my flag like some people breathe.

Likewise. I don't mind regular tea, but I don't see much point. If I'm just trying to stay hydrated I can drink water and enjoy it about as much, if I'm trying to enjoy a beverage there are so many nicer ones out there.

I’ve spent half the evening thinking tomorrow’s Friday and have been planning my playlist for Karaoke.

But it’s only bloody Thursday. Never could get the hang of Thursdays...

I drink chamomile tea by the literal pint (I have a huge white porcelain mug). I can't tolerate caffeine in any discernible quantity: the last time I had a midday Diet Coke I was wide-eyed until nearly 3am rearranging the kitchen cupboards.

When I used to drink a proper British cuppa, I'd have honestly just whatever was on offer in the supermarket, typically Tetley or own brand. I learned to drink tea at boarding school, where it arrived in huge urns with the milk already added. I do not recommend that particular preparation method. When I was working 60+ hours per week plus on call we drank tea pretty much all day long.

The ritual of "making a brew", particularly for a couple of housemates, colleagues or close friends, is actually what most of us like best about a cup of tea. So it doesn't matter if someone's on Kenco and someone else Tetley and someone else Teapigs.

Teapigs, though. Yum.

Didn't Jim Croce have a song called Thursday...

Growing up, my mom would on occasion throw a bunch of cinnamon sticks in a kettle full of water to boil. We would enjoy hot, heavily milked and sugared cinnamon tea.

Those were the days

Back on the subject of tea, when I was a kid Brooke Bond tea used to have collectable cards in the packets. They came in sets of 40 or 50 with titles such as British Trees, British Butterflies, Freshwater Fish. You could buy an album to stick the cards in as well.

I thought they’d stopped doing them in the early 70s, but a little research shows the last set issued was in 1999. Learnt a lot from those cards back in the 60s.

TODAY IN THE WEST

It's Thank You Thursday, and I've got a theme! It's also Earth Day.

There is much to be thankful for: the fact that the earth is inhabitable, that the earth has land and water, that it is beautiful and filled with biodiversity.

Unfortunately, the state of the planet is dire, so as a sign of gratitude I encourage you all to post good resources for ecological thinking: TED talks, speeches, essays, and videos that celebrate and document planet earth (hint hint).

Burning Marsupial continues, and there is time to celebrate the kickass and the goofy so join the server! Link in WFE.

I have had a splitting headache for two days now. It has progressed to include body aches today. Not thankful for this.

Can I post a text on the current resolution of revocation at the General Assembly?

Ouch - hope you improve soon CM.

Omskin wrote:Can I post a text on the current resolution of revocation at the General Assembly?

No. We’re all quite capable of going to the appropriate page and reading it there.

Sorry misread that, thought you meant posting the text of the repeal itself. But the answer is still no - the RMB is not the place for discussion of WA proposals.

You and I can recycle all we want but honestly were not the ones that need to step up, it's business that need to take action I just wish more of the larger ones could see how much more beneficial it can be long term.

Rebecca Henderson has a great TED talk about this,

I work in the mining sector and even though I haven't done it long, I've still have had the opportunity to galvant to various sites and I've seen first hand the difference between the shady places that cut corners and the mines that actually invest heavily into automation and cleaner methods and honestly from what I've seen the one that invest are the ones that end up preforming better, their overhead is much higher then the shady place but their profits seem to be a lot higher as well.

I'm thankful I work for one of the good ones.
