Western Mars wrote:Tangentially, idrk how TikTok works. I was on Twitter for several years, and since I left a few years ago, I have found acclimating to any other social medium extremely difficult. I just don't find the others that intuitive, and none are nearly as fun as Twitter used to be. It's such a pity what kind of state that site has fallen into these past years.

All I know is that Elon Musk allowed Alex Jones back on the platform and I'm able to watch him there no matter what happens to his company.

Crazy that the Syrian army fought for 9 years (2011-2020), followed by 4 years of Turkey protecting the remaining rebels and a stalemate, only to pretty much literally give up without a fight over the course of 9 days. Hundreds of thousands die, corner by corner street fighting, crude bombing campaigns, ruthless holding of tiny bits of territory and then...they just give up. Sounds like the Ceasar Act basically made the army into a pit of corruption and drug production/transit/sales.

Yes, we do live in interesting times

A chimpanzee got sentenced to decades in prison. That was stupid of him. He probably quadrupled his sentence (Which I believe was originally for assault of another person)

Beastland, this is a due warning for what in my view constitutes an obvious instance of Inordinate Dehumanization, by referring to someone who is clearly a human being as "a chimpanzee." Do not use dehumanizing language like that, or it will, in future, be criminally prosecuted.

Anyway, happy Advent, everybody.

And, in advance of the very serious business (and busy seriousness) of merrily merry-making and of the unintended (though not unwelcome), diffuse propagation of general merriment hence, a merry Christmas, bespoke to this wholly holy season, to all of you—and to the rest, while I'm at it.

O sweet Child of Bethlehem,
Grant that we may share with all our hearts in this profound mystery of Christmas.
Put into the hearts of men and women this peace for which they sometimes seek so desperately and which you alone can give to them.
Help them to know one another better, and to live as brothers and sisters, children of the same Father.
Reveal to them also your beauty, holiness and purity.
Awaken in their hearts love and gratitude for your infinite goodness.
Join them all together in your love. And give us your heavenly peace.
Amen.

Happy feast of Saint Stephen.

Merry Christmas, and happy Feast of the Holy Family.

I shall soon be reättempting to make buttered beer, and thereby (hopefully) add it to the list of holiday beverage regulars which I am confident in making, including:
- Mulled cider
- Mulled wine
- Hot cola
- Hot Dr. Pepper (which is another novel item that I have recently successfully made, and I can confirm, it's definitely not as bad as it sounds, especially if you pull it off the heat before it's lost all the carbonation, and pour it over a thick slice of lemon—there's a distinct vanilla note that comes out in the soda when warmed.)
- Masala chai (entirely in milk)
- Pumpkin pie milk drink (i recommend straining when transferring from pot to mug)

Dear Lord,
It's Tuesday and New Years Eve. I thank you for you have given me the gift of life, my health, shelter, and food.
With a full and gratified heart, I give thanks for all those special people you have placed in my life.
May you bless us all today the throughout the New Year with brighter days, your healing peace, and love.
This I pray in Jesus' name.
Amen.

I have once again failed to make buttered beer. I'm distraught.

Hot soda? I had some wine and some cigars. How did your new years go?

I just got done vomiting all over the ground outside a gambling place. I smoked a leftover cigar in too short of a period of time (apparently).

Too bad. I had to look it up and it sounds weird but possibly not bad... When you say you failed does that mean it didn't turn out good or you didn't actually make it?

I actually made it, but the egg yolk is supposed to emulsify the butter into the beer, and it actually mostly did. But I got a little bit of cooked egg particles floating around in there nevertheless, which is what I wanted to avoid. Drinking cooked egg is not the end of the world, but it's not ideal. After I strained it out though, I think the beverage turned out better than the first time I made it, where much of the egg was cooked and the butter separated in large part. This was much more a manageable amount of yolk loss.

Pretty well, if quietly, thanks. Yeah, hot soda turns out better than I originally expected, although it's hardly my favorite temperature for sodas. Lemon—and ginger, in the case of the hot cola—are highly improving ingredients for those recipes.

"Cigar too fast, now vomit" is a timeless problem.

I have always found eggs in drinks a very strange concept

Well, someday I will again take a crack at my most ultimate egg drink rival: the Egg Nog.

I failed once before, but someday I shall overcome.

I hope everyone has had a good holiday season. 2024 has been a bit of a fast-moving and tumultuous year, online and especially offline. However, it is my expectation that 2025 will see, in this region, potentially great growth and diverse activity. The Crown's primary goals are as follows:

(1) To establish a recruitment program and to support it through action and immigration law;

(2) To strengthen and diversify our foreign relations, going from simply getting our name out through passive embassies, to direct diplomacy and potentially even treaty relations with those worthiest regions; and

(3) To formalize a judicial structure, to outline the roles of juridic and prosecutorial officers, and to ultimately establish protocols for court proceedings (both criminal and civil).

Additionally, I will make the holding of selections a more regular feature of regional activity. It is unlikely that we will have many takers yet, but I am willing to give the members of this region additional opportunities to seek and hold office, in the expectation that the region will someday be the better for it. Not to mention, even if I have to keep suspending them for lack of interest, it is good practice, and leaves a useful "paper trail" of regional happenings for posterity.

I urge all residents and Free States to take care, make merry, stand firm, carry on, and all other such manner of cliche. We will make 2025 our year, no doubt at all.

When I was a kid, we had "eggnog" that wasn't really eggnog at Christmas on one side of the family. I don't know exactly what it was, but they sort of made it easier by actually putting ice cream in it. In other words, I think it was milk, eggs, vanilla ice cream, and maybe something else.

I've never tried real eggnog. It just sounds sort of gross.

I'd recommend accepting the most recent embassy request. They look like they could grow into an active region.

Ice cream is indeed a decent way to make stuff creamy quickly. I think that you gotta be careful in trying to make drinks with it, cuz they can turn out too sweet if you're careless with adding other sources of sweetness. I still have a sweet tooth, but I'm growing far less appreciative of sickly excess sweetness, at least in more than tiny doses and without counterbalancing flavors—like fresh, tart, bitter, nutty, warm spice, minty, salty, bready, and so on.
