Timotheos Ladas, exited the military cargo plane and breathed in the fresh sea breeze of the Euxine, better known as the Black Sea. It would be his first time in Ruthenia, but hopefully not his last. Following some positive feedback in regards to the tank bid and with Ruthenian troops counter-mobilizing on Polish border with the Minsk Oblast, time was of the essence to sign a deal and begin production. In the cargo hold sat CCE Argyrokastro-class battle tank along with a crew to demonstrate its capabilities.

Soon enough, Timotheos and the tank crew were joined by a group of well-dressed Cossacks.

Kiev, Ukraine
As the Grand Prince read the letter he trembled with excitement, the Krauts had left Polands borders and now the war could be avoided and the soldiers could return to their farms and reap the yearly harvest. Of course some of the units would stay on the field but that would be decided later. Most of the Army's would be demobilized though the Belorussian Front (500,000) would need something to do as it was so recently mobilized.

Lublin, Lublin Voivodeship, Poland-Lithuania

President Kamienski nervously looked over the papers in his hand— a list of points and declarations of what to discuss. Each turn the presidential vehicle made simply made the President more and more sick to his stomach. If all went well, there was the possibility of peace. If Poland looked weak, its foes would continue to press it. If it appeared too militant, it faced the possibility of a world war on its hands, something it was certainly not ready to fight. Eventually, the vehicle came to a stop. Kamienski took a deep breath, and stepped outside. He was greeted with a temporary stage, and a crowd of thousands before him. Cameras were all about, and news helicopters and drones whirred in the air. He stepped up to the podium, and the crowd burst into cheers. Organising his papers, he held up his left hand, and the crowd slowly quieted. With the world's eyes on him, he spoke.

"People of Poland-Lithuania, people of Europe, people of the world— I stand before you now to deliver an address. A statement. As you know, the balance of power teters steadily on the course of conflict— this needs no further proof than looking across the border. It is my duty to my people to defend them against foreign hand— this much, I have tried my hardest to accomplish. A man of words is nothing without action, and a man of action is nothing without words. Thus, I shall strive to make use of both. My account will be skewed; I do not believe this warrants explanation. My perspective is the perspective of the Polish-Lithuanian President; not the Ruthenian Prince, not the German Chancellor, not even the Polish-Lithuanian people.

Mere weeks ago, Poland lay in utmost turmoil. Demonstrations and separatist movements wracked our streets, local bands of armed militias imposed vigilante justice on their claims, and we had no national force with which to defend ourselves with. Look, if you will, from our perspective. Our government could agree on nothing but disagreement, halting any progress that might have otherwise been made.

Internationally isolated, we took a keen interest on our borders, knowing full well that, should foreign hand seek to splay us apart, then would be the opportune time. Ruthenia, a neighbor with which we had at that point no contact and a troubled history with, annexed half of Romanian Bessarabia, and Southern Russia, establishing itself as the dominant power to the east, with a military force to back it up. I hope it is understandable that we of Poland-Lithuania were much concerned by this— not only was our ally of Romania diminished in size with no resistance, but Poland-Lithuania, which possesses many territories in its sovereign borders that many consider Ruthenian, had no military to defend itself should a followup annexation of Polish lands occur.

Romania and Poland-Lithuania, seeking mutual protection against potential, and I stress, potential, threat from Ruthenia, aligned ourselves militarily. Romania agreed to help supply and train the needing-to-be-built Polish military, and in turn, Poland-Lithuania ensured the protection of Romania's existing borders following the annexation. As the Romanian President did not declare it illegal, Poland-Lithuania recognized that the former Romanian areas of Bessarabia were now Ruthenian. However, it should be known that we did not and shall not tolerate the further encroachment upon Romanian lands by any power."

Kamienski paused for breath, regaining his composure. Slowly, he began again.

"We reached out to our neighbor, the German Federation, in search of a strong ally. With a deal brokered and the Germans similarly concerned about Ruthenian activities in the east, the Federation agreed to dispatch troops to defend Polish-Lithuanian sovereignty in place of her nonexistent army until one on par with her neighbors was attained, and to supply Poland-Lithuania with the resources necessary to meet that goal."

"And then," he said, "It all went to hell."

"We witnessed the counterbuildup of Ruthenian forces on the border, threatening our lands. In the time it took Poland-Lithuania to pass its military act establishing its own national defence force and dissolve the rampant militias, Ruthenia was now mobilized. From there, other parties flocked to the scene, and tensions escalated far out of our hands."

"Now, to the present," he said.

"We recognize that many a nation seek the immediate deescalation of tensions on the border. To these nations, I hear your requests, your cries— but matters are not so simple. As it stands, Poland-Lithuania is still wholly unable to defend itself. Poland-Lithuania will not cease its militarization— it is for the safety of our country, with or without Ruthenian threat. We are, of course, open to negotiation, but Poland-Lithuania's military buildup is non-negotiable— I will not trade my people's lives for cheap peace. As for Ruthenian military buildup, that is not my place to govern. However, I close with this— should Ruthenia, or for that matter, any nation, seek to impose its will and sovereignty on Poland-Lithuania's soil, they shall be met with the utmost force Poland-Lithuania can muster. We have lost our nation too many times to stand weak in turbulent days— we will not lose our country again. I will not fail to defend my people."

Kamienski stepped off the podium. The crowd went wild.

Kurea gets up from her seat and raises her hand up to shake Amanda's hand.

Kurea: "Yup, it seems so we do," she says.

Her hands a bit shaky, as she retracted her arm she reached for her tie and loosened it up. Goda seemed to have not been noticing, preoccupied with scanning the ceiling, she felt as though she was being watched by somebody and looked towards Amanda and Kurea, though it seemed no one had been looking directly at her.

Kurea: "Hmmm, I don't think I have anything at the back of my head, things seem stable in Europe and Asia as well, Africa has been a dead silent land, and the Americas has been very peaceful it seems. Though mind I ask if Pretannia has any relations with the Sun Wu Dynasty, the family who claims the Mandate of Heaven amongst the populace that live in China, or does your government have connections with Austranisia or the OSSR (Oopsidroppedmyrightsburg)." she said, to why she was asking the diplomatic relations between the Government of Pretannia and these governments is unknown. Though they all do seem rather close to Japan.

Amanda noticed the swiftness of her hand as she moved it away, she seemed nervous about something almost though she couldn't exactly place what. Edward noticed it too, though he didn't think too much of it, neither did Amanda.

Amanda thought for a second as Kurea asked her question.

"Currently we have very limited relations with the Sun Wu Dynasty... though we have none with Austranisia from my knowledge unless my government is conducting secret deals without me or something, an impossibility considering my level of control over the nations foreign affairs department." She laughed for a moment, the level of power she had was intense back in Pretannia, third only to the Parliament Speaker and the Prime Minister herself. She looked to Kurea.

"Though Pretannia is looking to increase relations across the pacific... so possibilities are endless."

Edward sent another alert to the security team, the security team once again acknowledging it. Back at the airport Commander Tyler took off his helmet for a second.

"You know something's off about this place..." He said, one of the other team members, Riley, took her helmet off as well to speak with him.

"I can see why. This place is a snakes den and we've walked right in. Though I doubt much will happen. Besides... Pretannia is one of the most powerful nations on the planet currently. Crossing us would wield unimaginary consequences."

"You underestimate the Yakuza... and the other groups here Riley. We can't know they're plans."

"Indeed not... but I like to think they're smart."

She smirked to him, Tyler nodding to her as they put their helmets back on.

"Edward sent another alert. Seems their meeting is about over."

Riley and the others nodded. They would be ready for them when they got back to the airport.

After a long day in the Communi, Prime Minister Spyros Metaxa decided to unwind in his office. Gazing threw the window that overlooked the Old Port District, he could see the beautiful last rays of colourful light dancing among the clouds as the sun set in the West. He grabbed a the brandy from his liquor cabinet, poured himself a glass and lit up an Achipelan cigar. For a moment, he was able to close his eyes and be alone in his happy place. The glimpse of paradise was short lived however as banging emanated from the door. It was the Intelligence Minister, Alexandros Ypsilantis, with sly grin on his face and a glass of vodka in hand.

"Γαμώτο Alex! What is it this time and why the f*** are you drinking vodka? I thought you hated that stuff" Spyro roared from his.

"You'll never believe it φίλε! Armies are building up along the Polish-Ruthenian border. The Germans, the Trirenians, the Romanians, and maybe even the Russians will get involved.”, the Intelligence Minister announced with glee.

The Prime Minister stared at Mr Ypsilantis with disdain.

“Are you kidding me? I’ve already had 2 wars since I took this job and, granted they were successful, the nation isn’t looking to get into another”, Spyro said after skulking his drink.

“Don’t get your panties in a twist ol’ boy. I’m just saying there is money to be made on both sides. I say phone Pharos Aerospace and CCE Armaments, and get them to supply both sides. I’ll take care of sending mercenaries from our paramilitary shell companies courtesy of Mr. Beltran-Fuentes,” the minister said after taking a swig from the bottle.

“Rafael? That sleezy bastard? Fine I guess. Nobody said staying neutral meant we can’t make any money. Get the machine rolling Alex,” the Prime Minister relented.

The Intelligence Minister made his exit. Spyro proceed to shatter his glass against the closed door, finished his cigar calmed down, grabbed his coat and made his way home.

The following day, contract bids for fighter jets were sent to Poland-Lithuania by Pharos while the CCE sent tank offers to Ruthenians. Rafael Beltran-Fuentes took care of organizing mercenary companies to volunteer on both sides in the event a war broke out.

The Last Hours

The path to the Confederate capital was clear, though one thing still stood in the way: the large shield dome that surrounded the city. Even after a barrage of artillery fire, the shield refused to go down, so for now it was a waiting game. The city was completely surrounded and if there were any droids left, they were remaining inside.

Raphtalia, unfortunately, didn’t have time to wait. The end of this war was literally in front of them and there was little she could do. Orbital bombardment was an option but even if it did break through, there could still be civilians inside and no one, especially the Admirals, were willing to risk needless slaughter. Not to mention Captain Asada and her team were supposedly still inside the city somewhere as well.

Even when and if the shield came down, the city would still be hard to capture. The main goal was capturing, or killing if necessary, the Confederate leadership. After that, it would finally be over.

At that moment, the unimaginable happened. Just when it seemed like this would turn into a sitting war, the ground shook slightly, almost as if an explosion went off. Then, the shield began to flicker and soon it disappeared.

For a few moments, everyone was still. Then, as if snapping back to reality, shouts were heard as troopers, walkers, and tanks made their way into the city.

Just as Raphtalia was about to step forward, she heard a small sound and looked down, noticing the ground was moving in a certain spot. All of a sudden a hatch opened up and someone came out.

She had grabbed her blade but then stopped when she recognized who it was. “Sinon!?”

“Oh hey Raphtalia, how about that for coincidences,” Sinon grinned as she looked down. “It’s alright! The cavalry is already here.” She got up and dusted herself off. “We just walked about two miles of sewers. I’m gonna need at least two hours to get this smell off of me.” Admittedly, the smell was pretty bad, from Raphtalia’s point of view.

“Wait…don’t tell me that was you guys,” Raphtalia said as the rest of the Nightstalkers began coming up. “I thought you all got imprisoned.”

“We did, but we got out, thanks to a little help,” Sinon said. At that moment, Lop came out from the ground. “Raphtalia, Lop, our guide around the city.”

Lop and Raphtalia looked at one another, both surprised by each other’s appearance. “A pleasure to meet you,” Raphtalia said as the two shook hands. “You have my thanks for helping rescue them.”

“You have my thanks as well,” Lop replied. “After all, you’re here to liberate us?”

When Raphtalia looked confused, Sinon cut in. “Many of her species here are working as slaves…”

“I see,” Raphtalia replied. “Do you have any family there?”

Lop turned away. “They’re gone now…”

Raphtalia put a hand on her shoulder. “I know the feeling,” she said softly. “I was a slave too, once. Lost my parents in a mining accident.” Her face then turned serious. “Will you help me end this once and for all, so that no more families have to suffer?”

Lop looked back at her, and there was an intensity in her eyes, one that almost reminded Raphtalia of herself at a young age. “I will.”

Kurea: "Ah I see," she says, "Well Asia is a battlefield between The Kingdoms of Austranisia and the Sun Wu Dynasty, my fair warning is to not get complicated into those affairs. The Sun Wu Dynasty has taken a more active force into gaining influence across East Asia and southeast Asia. Austranisia has been trying to build up an economic sphere, they have tried to free Mongolia and Tibet from the grip of China though have been unsuccessful. Unsure what they are doing now since they have been rather inactive on the world stage." she says, "Let us just say there is a cold war between the world power and the regional powers of Asia." she explained.

Kurea: "Anyways, I believe this concludes our meeting, now let us take you to the airport," she says, as she motions the Pretannian officials and Goda to follow and leave the meeting room.

Meanwhile at the airport. . .

The crowd slowly started to die out when the Prime Minister of Japan and the Secretary of State representing Pretannia left, there were still some Japanese police officers and airport security. It was noted that most of the officers and security left the scene due to escorting the Prime Minister and the Pretannian officials. However, some left even after that, there were a few officers who seemed to have shouted at each other and dismissed the incident as one of them walked away and disappeared for a while.

A few children who seemed poor wearing ragged clothing were playing football at a safe distance within the airport perimeter. A few would look at them and then turn back to play football again, one of them leaves with their ragged coat for a moment.

The child with his coat seems to have wandered off to the busy streets of the airport and into the parking lot. It is where he goes up to a black van and as he draws near it the van rolls down its tinted windows.

Man #1: "(Japanese) Are the foreigners still there, kid?"

Child: "(Japanese) Yes Mr, they are still there, and a few Japanese officers,"

Man #1: "(Japanese) How many?"

Child: "(Japanese) About 10 cops, excluding the foreigners, now can I buy myself some water?" he asked, the man looked to the driver who then took out from his pocket a stack of Yen,"

Man #1: "(Japanese) Buy yourself more than that kid, Ą250,000, about a year worth of food and water,"

Child: "(Japanese) Wow! Thanks, Mr! I'll go back to my football match but I'll first buy some water from the nearby market,"

Man #1: "(Japanese) Heh, take as much time as you want kid, no rush," he said, as the kid left, the men put on their black tinted glasses and a large coat that was buttoned up. As the van's doors open, about 6 men got off the black van, they seemed to have had protective skater gear covering their arms and legs, along with a hachimaki wrapping around their foreheads. They took musical instrument cases out of the van and headed towards the airport.

Meanwhile the PM of Japan & the Secretary of State representing Pretannia are in the limousine, protected by 2 armored trucks in the front and 2 armored trucks in the back. . .

Kurea seemed to tap her knees with her hand as she sat inside the limousine opposite the Pretannian delegates and next to Goda. She looked outside of the limousine every now and then, then she started to speak looking directly at Amanda.

Kurea: "Hora, I love Japan, not because I myself am Japanese, nor it is because I am the leader of this country. Though because of its image in the outside world. Japan has been described as being culturally and naturally beautiful ranging from architecture to natural landscapes to the aspects of our religion, Shinto. Though you come here and it is like a dumpster, poverty plagues the streets and cities, corporations running the same products for the fact that they fear that they will die out and become bankrupt if they expand to other nations. Does it not remind you of something that we ourselves know very well?" she says.

"Greetings," the general said while offering his hand, "and welcome to Malbork. These are very impressive looking wares— what can they offer Poland-Lithuania?"

Antonio approached the Polish general, shook his hand and offered him and his entourage some premium Achipelan cigars.

“Let’s cut to the chase General Kówanek,”he said while lighting his cigar, “Poland is in need of an airforce worthy of the 22nd century and we have what you need.”

The men walked up the the first aircraft, a large intimidating contraption decked out in a gun-metal and grey paint-scheme.

“This right here is our Tryphon-class Bomber. Like all our other aerospace craft, it is well suited for atmospheric and interstellar conditions, though cost cutting measures are available if space capabilities aren’t a priority. These come at a unit cost of 250 million Panameros and come equipped with 2 laser cannon turrets, 2 missile launchers and 2 bomb bays. It is a craft truly worthy of Koine Greek name for “Magnificent”.

Following some visual inspections and a tour of the bomber’s cockpit, the men moved on to the next fighter jet.

“This is our Light Fighter Jet, the Hetairoi-class. Best-used in swarms, hence the Koine Greek name for “Companion”, the small yet nimble craft coke at a relatively cheap cost of 100 million Panameros and are equipped with 2 missile launchers and 2 laser turrets”

Moving on from the chrome- clad Hetairoi, they moved on to a much larger fighter.
“This my friends sure packs a hell of a punch. With 6 missiles and 4 laser cannons, your enemies will regret coming across the speedy and deadly Argyraspides-class Heavy Fighter. A literal “Silver Shield” of air defensive purposes, it’s added speed, armour and firepower will cost you 200 million Panameros”

The men then moved on to a sleeker looking craft at the end of the runway
“Finally we have the Ceraunos-class Stealth Fighter, basically the same specs as the previous Heavy-fighter in a “lightning” fast, stealthier and radar-resistant package. This bad boy will come at a cost of 300 million Panameros”

General Kówanek and one of the pilots accepted the offer of cigars. Kówanek was thoroughly impressed by the Cymiopolitan craft laid out before them, and surveying each ship only made the offer more and more enticing. "With craft like these," he silently thought to himself, "Those Ruthenians would think twice about threatening us. We could blow 'em back to Russia from Kijów in days. I'll hand it to these foreigners, they know how to make ships."

He consulted the two senior pilots on the matter.
"Kowalski! Skłodowska!"
They snapped to attention.
"The Minister and I are in charge of finance here, but we're no pilots. What are your evaluations?"

"Sir," Major Skłodowska began, "These ships are... put simply, too good to pass up. With respect, I've only flown fighters, so you'll need to defer to Kowalski on the bombers, but... these are decades ahead of even Russian specs. Air superiority would be an afterthought— paired with our other assets, any battlefield could shift in our favor within moments. No jet, Polish or Ruthenian, can even catch one of those," she said, pointing to the stealth fighter. "Considering we have no heavy fighters or stealth fighters, I say they're definitely worth the investment, especially considering the technology. The Hetairoi we can maybe live without, but I wouldn't pass on the Agyraspides or Ceraunos."

The general nodded. "Kowalski?"

"Sir, to echo Skłodowska, we simply cannot pass up on this offer. I've seen and flown my fair share of bombers, and that Tryphon outclasses them all. More potency, more effectiveness. Speaking purely from a financial perspective, it would be far more cost effective to purchase a small number of Tryphons than buy, restore, and retrofit Polish, Russian, or American bombers."

The general nodded once more, and turned to whisper to the Minister of Defence.
"How are we looking cost-wise?"

"Needless to say, these craft are expensive. However, our pilots made some good points. We're on a budget, and a schedule, and I believe purchasing some of these will give us the necessary military edge."

"The Cymiopolitans don't need to know about Nova Corporations... if they ask, we'll tell them we have no need of light fighters. However, the bomber, heavy fighter, and stealth fighter fill the gaps left by Nova Corporations."

"I see. We'll stick to those, then."

The general turned back towards the patiently waiting Cymiopolitans.
"Your wares are just what we need. We are interested in buying. How shall we place an order?"

Antonios was pleased by the interest. Cymiopolitan aerospace engineering must have blown their socks off.

"I'm happy to hear Pharos has made a good impression on Polish-Lithuanian Air Force. While the unit costs may seem high, we do offer a 5% discount on orders over 50 units and 15% discount on orders over 100 units. My I can have my assistant fetch the order forms and contracts so that we can process them back at our headquarters in Achilleion. Production will begin once the order is processed and we could start delivering as soon as units come off the production floor and have been approved for safety and reliability. As an added bonus, we will fly in our expert flying instructors to train your pilots for free for the next 2 years until your pilots gain enough experience to provide local training." he said after he finished his last drag from his cigar, "How does that sound General Kówanek ?"
