I'm sure some of you will remember that I've been building this nation up on the 'Most Cultured' scale.
Before the first anti-Covid 'lockdown' drastically reduced my computer access It had reached #12 in the world.
When I returned from being offline after that first lockdown, about six months later, other countries had done well enough to push it down to #15, and another nation also managed to overtake it (=> #16) before I actually gained daily -- rather than just weekly -- computer access again.
It has just regained the #12 position, albeit [so far] only by 1 point. :)

Congratulations on the success! Can't wait to see you climb ever higher, not least because I really want to see a bear orchestra.

Thank you, but further progress will be slow unless any of the nations currently ahead of me CTE (which, admittedly, has happened before): I'll actually need a few more points (I think: If not, then certainly no better than a few less...) to get from #12 to #11 than I did to get from #16 to #12!

N-Day 2021

Good evening (etc) everyone!

This year's nuclear war will (assuming my sources are correct) begin on the 26th September at 5pm Eastern Time.

As we did last year, we will be joining the Potato Alliance! We've managed to secure a commitment to a goal of zero-radiation so we're looking forward to joining Spiritus, Forest et al as we journey once more into the horrors of nuclear war.

If you intend to participate in the event, please join the Potato Command discord, which is linked in this dispatch, and remember to upvote the dispatch too!

Happy nuking!

THIS IS A TEST OF THE POTATO ALLIANCE EARLY WARNING SYSTEM.

That day, but not the precise hour, is officially confirmed @ viewtopic.php?f=15&t=509653 .

And today I dismissed 5 issues for this nation, with none of those capable of helping in this (whereas The Ursine Northlands also had 5 issues, 3 of which helped 'Most Cultured' & provided a total of +4 points... For comparison, Bears Armed needs almost 50 points for its next step even if the nation currently at #11 doesn't improve its score at all...).

Currently too close to call on the SC vote.

If you were a participant in our cheese festival and you haven't yet voted, there's still time! Voting will close on the 30th September.

N-Day

We will be part of the Potato Alliance as we were last year. If you intend to participate, PLEASE join the discord if possible https://discord.gg/VrEGmGXN as it is so much easier to coordinate there than on RMBs. View the news page to see when it begins.

So, I decided to take Monday off work to stay up all night and shield our beautiful region from the nukes. That will afford me some extra time this weekend to update the map. If you are relatively new or recently returned to the IDU and would like to claim your spot let me know: https://idugov.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2050&page=2.

I urge people to vote against the GA proposal currently on the floor, 'Drug Decriminalization Act' because, apart from anything else, it fails to consider that some drugs may be more harmful (not only to their users but perhaps also, because of effects on how those users think, to other people around them) than others.

I've cast my vote in opposition already, for precisely the reason you've stated - it surprises me that it's seen quite so much in the way of popularity!

Grosseschnauzer

I think there are better ways of removing the negative impacts of the criminalization of drugs, but we do agree that the negative repercussions of criminality needs to be done, and done retroactively.
Given the historic pattern of imminent repeal, this is one proposal that should be defeated now, and a more comprehensive proposal developed that better addresses this topic. For these reasons,I vote against this proposal.
