Mundra Airport, The soviet raj

Col. David Moore looked out from the ATC tower over what was left of the airport. Big enough for B-52s and fighters, the clean-up had just finished when word came down the wire that the first planes of the 509th Bombardment Wing (changed due to issues with the 506th) would be landing in a few minutes. What made him raise his eyebrow in confusion why the Air Force had also sent ahead a convoy of trucks under heavy guard loaded with weapons and what looked like a damn nuke. He doubted even the Air Force was that insane to have a goddamned nuclear weapon in a war zone. The region wasn't even that secure yet even if the Indian Army had all but run for the hills after getting plastered hours ago. Even the damn Canadians (-greater canada-) had a two of their own officers here. He spoke to one of them who was subdued for reasons he couldn't explain. Like the guy knew something horrible was about to unfold. As he watched one of the lumbering bombers land, he took a glance over the highly guarded warehouse that was one of the few left intact and then back to the bomber and the countless fighters. All this for one airport? For reasons he didn't know yet and would find out later on...a sense of dread filled his stomach. Like he was watching history repeat itself and it filled him with more dread than a child left alone at home on a stormy night. Oh how correct he was to be filled with dread indeed....

Quinta de Olivos Presidential Residence

Adviser Fernández: I'm telling you Guille. We have the numbers but it's not advisable to do it at this moment.

President Bermejo: I'm telling you, the voters will understand.

Fernández: The voters Guillermo, only know what's in front of them right now.

In other words, Uruguay's lost thanks to a Soviet nuclear plant. Eurasia, a democracy like ours, is under threat by the USSR, Soviet India launched an aggressive war against its neighbor and the defeated leader sought asylum in the FEUSSR.

News, social media, even those damned 2-min vid apps. The images and audios are out there for everyone to see. And what do your voters see? We're reds, but those foreign reds are not like us. And if you want to get reelected, we can't throw this project for debate in Congress.

Bermejo: I know it but once those funds start to pour in, they'll readjust their thinking.

Fernández: By the time those mega-infrastructure projects are complete, inflation has receded, and students all over the country can begin to sign up for the benefits of COPE, you will have lost the election. This move has the potential to end the People's Patriotic Front, Guillermo.

Bermejo: What's happening in the world right now poses a threat for the next election as well. Have you seen the opposition lately? They're painting NATA countries as these holier-than-thou places, climbing in the polls while we sit here discussing this. If Argentina doesn't debate the possibility of accessing the GSA right now, it might be too late by next election, Juan.

Fernández: Do yourself a favor, friend. Go to sleep. You've had a long day today and it doesn't help to discuss this subject this late at night. We'll keep debating the pros and cons tomorrow.

Bermejo: You'll see that I'm in the right with this one, Juancito.

Hello. Welcome to GeoPolity. If you would like to join the RP, have a look at the information here:

All application forms can be found below, and should be copy-pasted into a factbook and filled out. These must be placed in a factbook, and all Nation Applications must be preserved, unedited, following approval.

For new players, the nation application should be utilized. For those wishing to expand their claim, the expansion application should be used, and for those wishing to bring a puppet to the region to serve as a rebel group within their country, or something to the same effect, the rebel application should be utilized.

Following the completion of any application, a link to the factbook that contains the application should be sent either via telegram to Geopolity Customs for processing, AND/OR may be submitted to the #applications tab on our LinkRegional Discord Channel. Requests for rectifications may be made before you are accepted.

Please allow at least 24 hours for a response. Please note as well that if you apply via Discord that the process will be much quicker than if it is submitted by telegram. Should you ever take significant issue with the review of your application, you may send telegram/Discord DM with your complaints to Labyrnna or any of the RP Coordinators. Response times may vary. This should be reserved for complaints with regards to conduct of the review, not to what rectifications are required.

When your application has been accepted, a notice will be posted on the Regional Message Board. Until said notice is posted, new members are not permitted to post on the Regional Message Board or conduct RP. All posts will be suppressed, and all RP will be invalidated.

Notes:

  • Submission of an application is considered verification that an applicant has read the Geopolity regional rules, and the contents of this factbook, and understand them thoroughly.

  • Land claims should be kept reasonable in size, and ought to hew very closely to the real life conditions of the land being claimed.
Changes to population and GDP will be permitted only marginally, and not at all for wealthier, more populous states. Wikipedia is recommended for largely up to date information on GDP and Population statistics, and in the case of disagreement, will be considered the most valid reference. Should an administrative division be lacking economic statistics one may utilize the GDP per capita of the nation to which it belongs, and multiply that by the population of said administrative division to ascertain its GDP.

  • This region does not use NS Stats in any way, shape or form.

  • Land claims that are varied in scope (taking lots of different bits of modern day states) may be rejected without sufficient reasoning for such a claim fleshed out in the history. Significant displacements of ethno-cultural groups is largely not permitted.

  • With regards to nation names, it is all but required that you utilize your NationStates account name. The administration reserves the right to reject an application if that name should be silly, or otherwise unfit for a nations name.

  • You MUST be an accepted member of the NationStates World Assembly to apply to the region, and this membership must be maintained over the entirety of one’s stay as a RP member of the region. You will be given a single warning upon submission of an application, and there will be no follow-up until WA membership has been achieved. Should you lose WA membership following your acceptance, for any reason, you will be removed from regional Roleplay.

  • Land Claim expansions should not be considered within your first six months of regional membership, and will only seldom be granted. They will be minimal in size and scope, and should be utilized for purposes of story, not as a land-grab. Reliance on such expansions for RP is strongly discouraged, as they will be few and far between. When granted, use of puppets to represent the land being acquired will likely be permitted.

  • Rebel applications should be used sparingly, and may be rejected if the administration feels they are unnecessary to accomplish what is desired. Please note that these rebel groups are 100% internal, and cannot be utilized in other nations without said nations permission, nor can they be used for land claim expansions.

  • Should you be removed from RP for any reason you must submit a new application, following all guidelines presented here.

Geopolity is a Roleplay region steeped in a long history of modern day roleplaying. We refer you to the Regional Message Board (RMB) for examples of such roleplay. Should you have any questions, we encourage you to pose them on the LinkRegional Discord Channel, and while joining the Discord is not mandatory, it is heavily encouraged.

The election of a new chancellor

    | Berlin — In the halls of the Bundestag, the election for the next Chancellor began once Kaiser Friedrich introduce Alfred Scheiner as his appointment, having a long career as a member of the Christian Democratic Union has led him to climb the upper ranks of his party while serving on the Bundestag itself for many terms. Seeming to have better popular support among members of the Bundestag than his predecessor Chris Behrends as he promoted a stable coalition between his party and other parties including the FDP and Greens on pragmatic grounds, and has on multiple occasions supported non-partisan legislation. Which seems to have given him the support he needs as he gains a comfortable seventy-three percent majority in parliament, after the results were announced now elect Chancellor Scheiner gave a speech of gratitude and promise that his cabinet selection shall be carefully considered for stability and future of the Federation.

OOC: All RP'ers (those on the map) should have a received a PIN number for the upcoming vote for the regional admin team from British Crown Commonwealth.

If you have not received this and think you should have please contact them.

The PIN number means we can validate the vote but it stays anonymous (as the one who counts the votes does not get to see which PIN got sent to whom and vis-versa).

New Delhi airspace, B52 bomber callsign Big Daddy

High above New Delhi, the B52 bomber flew in a lazy circle, high enough that it wasn't seen by the naked eye yet but it wasn't really trying to hide. It's fighter escort had dealt with the pests from earlier and the crew was just waiting for the order. They knew what their payload was but had strict orders to not reveal the true nature of it to both Canadians. Hell, no one at the base even knew if it was a nuke they were guarding due to the total blackout around the mission. As the confirmation was received, the bomb bay doors opened and the bomb dropped, pre-set to go off roughly 2500 feet above the ground. High enough to not level everything in sight but lower to shatter every window in the city and cause a panic. As the bomb cleared the doors, the bomber pulled up a bit as the clouds parted enough for the crew and their Canadian members to see the bomb detonate. For all the world knew, the Union airburst a nuke but would be surprised when the news from the city told a different tale. Though not intended to cause anymore damage than needed, it seemed one of two building did burst into flames and one lost part of the upper floor. But the message was sent: Yield or a second present would be dropped onto your lap

White House, Oval Office

Thomas Vanderbilt, his face unreadable following the recent meeting following the N2 strike over New Delhi looked at the phone and message. The Soviet Indian Government had surrendered unconditionally following that strike. Seems some folks didn't want to risk having dropped directly into the streets he though to himself. Already some news stations were airing the videos from the city that showed the damage, some saying it was a tactical nuke.

"Oh those misguided fools. If that was a nuke, there'd be no Government to surrender. Let them run around like headless chickens for awhile. That strike just shows our restraint and resolve. Let it stand as a message: if we wanted to...we could have flattened all of India in a heartbeat."

Standing up from the Resolute desk, he looked out the windows and into the morning light, the muffle sounds of birds and other natural sounds coming through the doors and windows.

Minister of Finance Tatiana Konovalova:

“Thank you for your feedback Landvoogd and offering me the chance to clarify the Romanovan position. The questions you raise are certainly valid ones and I am happy to answer them based on Romanovan government and tax policy."

"With regards to reducing prices on food items already tax exempt, what we can look to do is reduce the indirect taxes that can drive up food prices. For example, food must be transported and delivered to reach consumers. In Romanovskaya, there is tax on the fuel, as well as a tax on the vehicles themselves. One policy we have looked into is offering a tax-back scheme for certain companies who provide essential goods and services to claim back tax spent on fuel and transport vehicles. So transport is one example but certainly there are other areas where this scheme could be used."

"In terms of ensuring that companies pass on tax reductions to consumers, the tax-back scheme can play a role there as well. In order for companies to avail of the scheme, their accounts must be submitted to the relevant tax authority and will be assessed. If there is a case where a company is generating huge profits and is trying to avail of the tax-back scheme, their application can be simply rejected. Also, Romanovskaya, like most countries, operates a progressive tax policy. The companies who earn more and have the biggest profits will pay more tax. So with a solid tax policy in place, governments can certainly play a role in supporting the market rather than trying to control it with fixed pricing."

"Ultimately though, and being realistic, there is only so much that governments can do in light of the current global security situation and the detrimental effects on supply chains. We would certainly wish to see closer global cooperation to keep key supply lines open even during times of conflict. Until then, food prices will rise putting millions of vulnerable people at risk. One thing that is a fact is that fixed pricing cannot solve supply shortages."

"Thank you once again Landvoogd for chairing this summit and giving me on the behalf of the Romanovan government a platform to put forward our proposals. I look forward to being able to discuss this and other issues with you further if you would allow it.”

Talks about moving the Sohongidan capital to Abuja, a city developed in the 1980s, have finally stopped within the National Legislature. Ever since the city's construction was completed, various senators and representatives attempted to push forward legislation to move the entire federal government of Sohongida to the city. The recent legislation that was shot down in the National Legislature was the closest any legislation has gotten to passing on the matter. While the legislation passed in the Senate with a slim margin, the House of Representatives stood firmly opposed to the legislation to move the government of Sohongida.

Representative Jose Antonio Obasi of the State of Furstia, had this to say:

"Lagos has been the center-point for anything happening in Sohongida. The city has seen the colonial government and the Sohongidan government. The city has seen unity and war. People, especially those who serve our federal government, have lived their lives here and call this place home. Moving to Abuja because it's newer than Lagos is a very careless act and doesn't take into consideration the roots people have grown here in Lagos. If people worry about the safety of Lagos, they can look at the history of the city and realize that is has not been captured but once and that is by Labyrnna before the peoples of this land were united."

Many other representatives that voted against the legislation echoed the statement by Representative Obasi. Those who voted for the legislation have called the reasonings given by Obasi as "shortcomings in the true nature of the proposal". Representatives that voted against it, however, have noted there there is no logical move to the city of Abuja outside of the fact that the city is much newer than Lagos.

The roman imperial commonwealth

Statement from The Office of the Commonwealth

The combined nations of the Roman Imperial Commonwealth are appalled at the criminal actions undertaken by the United States during the Raj-Hanthwaddy War. The use of nuclear warheads near civilian population centers is both dangerous to the population of India, but dangerous to the world as a whole. The fallout from such an incident could travel for hundreds of miles, and even result in nuclear retaliation. Putting millions of lives at risk for a show of force is reckless, and a blind decision that could only be made by a nation that does not care for the safety of humanity or its own citizens. The Commonwealth cannot and will not allow this sort of behavior. Effective immediately, the Commonwealth will be enforcing economic sanctions against the United States of America.

Other votes were passed in recent weeks as well: Citizens of Commonwealth Observer-States may apply for Commonwealth citizenship, allowing for ease of travel and commerce. This Act now excludes the United States, preventing them from interacting economically with Commonwealth nations until further notice. The Commonwealth Defense Treaty has added an Article, which officially activates the Commonwealth Defense Force. The CDF will be comprised of 250,000 troops from Roma, Hungary, Turco-Bulgaria, and Turkiye. These troops will be stationed in Turkiye temporarily, and will relieve the 160,000 Joint Task Force currently performing military exercises there. Upon the completion of the CDF's first deployment in Turkiye, 150,000 troops will be stationed in Hungary. 50,000 will be stationed in Turco-Bulgaria and Central Africa.

As of writing and receipt, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will extend its offer of asylum into the FEUSSR to all citizens and residents of the former Soviet Raj. Asylum seekers' family members to the ninth relation, which include an asylum seeker's living parents, living grandparents, living spouses, spouse's parents, living children and their spouses, living grandchildren and their spouses, siblings and siblings-in-law, uncles and aunts and their spouses, and first cousins and their spouses, are granted derivative asylum as well. You are entitled to be transported to the FEUSSR via outbound flight with MFA diplomatic personnel. Your items and personal effects will be transported later on via diplomatic courier in diplomatic bags.

The granting of asylum is pursuant to the principle of non-refoulement, owing to a likelihood that you may be unfairly persecuted or retrospectively prosecuted for your political opinion, membership in a political body, or for legally-sanctioned work at the time of performance. The granting of asylum is also pursuant to humanitarian grounds, following the detonation of a pseudo-nuclear device which threatens the food, water, and physical safety of the local populace with its fallout, and highlights the constructive recklessness of the new government (Imperial Mysore) and its allies.

Asylum in the FEUSSR is authorized for an indefinite period, and it confers upon you the right to reside permanently in the FEUSSR. It may also confer upon you an automatic entitlement to citizenship if your statehood is revoked by your home country and you become stateless.

Indonesia Recalls Ambassador to United States

Earlier today as news of a large warhead being detonated by the United States of America above New Delhi, a city of over sixteen million and capital of India, took Indonesia by storm as it plastered headlines across social media platforms and news networks. Within the hour, Indonesian Twitter and other platforms blew up, attacking and condemning the controversial decision made by Washington D.C., with many tagging Indonesian politicians in posts in attempts to lobby their support. Trending phrases such as "BomDiAtasKYC (Bomb over New York City)", "Keluar, Amerika (Go away, America)", and "Tinggalkan Asia Sendiri" (Leave Asia Alone)" were seen at the bottom of nearly every post, others going as far as to call the United States a nation of war mongerers and racists, as they've dropped nuclear weapons on Asian nations three times, and razed a city in the late Qing Empire. A massive uptick in anti-American sentiment flooded social media in record time, however, this phenomenon wasn't relegated to online only.

In Jakarta, thousands of protesters surrounded the Embassy of the United States, being held off by Jakarta police and Embassy Security. Rocks, trash, and other objects littered the lawn and side of the building as windows were smashed in hurled objects, leading to armored assault officers being deployed to break up the crowd with little success. Helicopters were deployed to airlift United States Embassy Staff from the premises to a secure location. Similarly, the embassies of Canada and to a lesser extent, the United Kingdom have also seen protests outside of their perimeters, however, Jakarta Police and Armed Assault Officers have been successful in maintaining a safety cordon around either main building, the remainder of the complex left unattended.

The events as they unfolded intitiater an emergency session of the People's Consultative Assembly, convening hours after the initial detonation. In a surprisingly swift session lasting under two hours, the People's Consultative Assembly voted overwhelmingly in favor of recalling the Indonesian Ambassador to the United States it America and formally issuing a condemnation for the actions of Washington D.C. for recklessly detonating large scale ordinance above a metropolitan area with roughly the same population as the largest urban area in the entire United States, for a mere warning. Minister Megasuraya of Pahang was quoted as saying,

Megasuraya: "We do not live in the era of World War II anymore. It's 2022, we as a world must act like we belong to modern civilization and stop playing carelessly with threats of large scale destruction. Even in times of war, such decisions to loosely play with ordinance of that scale over a city of that size is completely careless and callous of the United States. If an accident had happened during the flight, it could had lead to the death and injury of untold millions of people."

Several other Ministers were interviewed outside of the People's Consultative Assembly building in Jakarta, each vehemently denouncing the United States. Countless other Ministers declined to comment, including Speaker of the Majelis Permusyawaratan Rakyat, Tse Minvulez. At this time, President binti Rayyan has not made a public appearance on this matter.

PRES KPY: FEUSSR stands with Eulumia

President Kum Pak Yong has publicly decried the American detonation of a pseudo-nuclear device in The soviet raj/Imperial mysore, joining Roma secundum and Eulumia in voicing its displeasure against the unprecedented show of force.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made no comment on the recognition of Imperial mysore. It is suspected to be highly unlikely at this stage, as the installation of a sultanate over a republic ushers in a stage of political regression on the Indian subcontinent.

"Recent events have proven that Imperial Eagle, alongside its collaborators in the Anglosphere Commonwealth, cannot be trusted to uphold peace. Its tendency to deploy military forces willy-nilly and engage in regime change whenever anything disagreeable to them occurs, bypassing the traditional means of diplomacy, suggests it is an immature power...what is even more worrying is that this immature power is the world's largest economy and is armed with thousands of nuclear warheads. And now, they are complicit in installing a regime of western boot-lickers and running dogs. The West has once again facilitated the East's regression from republicanism into monarchism."

Minister of Defence Chae Kum-sok of the People's Defence Force said that "the whole world is displeased" by "the American indulgence in callousness, recklessness, and unnecessary danger."

Anti-American and anti-Commonwealth sentiments are at an all-time high. Thousands have surrounded the embassy complexes of Imperial Eagle, the British Crown Commonwealth, and -greater canada- in protest, denouncing the use of nuclear weapons, the three nations' involvement in regime change, and the anti-democratic values which follow from such changes. The Public Security Forces have formed cordons around the buildings to guarantee the safety of all parties physically present. Social media hashtags from Eulumia like "Keluar, Amerika (Go away, America)" and "Tinggalkan Asia Sendiri" (Leave Asia Alone)" have been co-opted by millions of digital posters.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, unlike its counterparts in Eulumia, have stepped shy of recalling its ambassador, instead opting to lodge a formal diplomatic protest to Washington. "We still believe in diplomacy," per Foreign Minister Frunze, "but it is likely that those days may come to an end."
