OOC Annoucement

The Regional Administration has approved Rule 25 which sets specific figures that determine when and in which cases, nation(s) will be subject to expansion restrictions - colloquially known as "land-caps" -, to maintain a balanced environment between players and encourage activity for potential claimants.

For the upcoming "No-confidence polls", the use of a different voting system is being debated. If proven to be safe and reliable, members might be able to vote anonymously for the first time. However, if tests fail, the standard method of NS polls shall be used.

Days after the foiled attempt of anti Roman revolt, the Republican military has shut the city as threats of any protest is still high the Roman government set an exclusion zone around the embassy of The hellenes league as cop are the only ones who are patrolling the area so the Hellenic embassy is not tipped off. Most of the city is locked down as only government and citizens who has residence in the city can only enter.

Meanwhile in Lecce, Rome
An massive anti The hellenes league has turned heated as anti government protesters formed to counter the anti Hellenic protest outside a Hellenic consulate resulting in four arrests and 10 injured as the police moved in to stop the protests. This protest and counter protest has became the bloodiest protest since the start of the Italian wars of 1943-1956.

Office of the Archon

The exclusion zones set up around our embassy, and our consulate, is an illegal attempt to harass Hellenic Citizens who are in the nation, and they are blocking our right to communicate with the Hellenic citizens who are in The Roman Republic.

This blockage is meant to deter us, and is simply a bullying attempt to push us during this stressful time.

The staff of the embassy are diplomats, and therefore should be allowed to return to The Hellenic League. All security staff are recalled back as well, and are expected to be allowed to return home.

They have been representing our efforts in the best possible way to find a peaceful solution, and we will continue to do so in other areas, to pursue peace.

The staff must return home.

That being said, all Hellenic citizens who are in The Roman Republic are strongly recommended to return home or to get out of the country and to remove themselves what is perceived as a dangerous situation.

JNN: Interview with President Akiya

Interviewer: Hello, and welcome everyone. Today I'm joined by the President of Japan, Akiya Komi. Welcome, Madam President. It's an honor to have you here.

President Akiya: Thank you. It's an honor to be here.

Interviewer: So the interview today is going to consist of questions that were put together by our team here at JNN Studios, and questions that we pulled from viewers. First with the questions we put together, you have passed your anniversary of being President of Japan and you've done a lot compared to Presidents of the past. From here on, what are your plans to help build up Japan?

President Akiya: Well, in my first year, we tried to focus on generalized reforms that help citizens as a whole. With this being said, we'd like to start focusing on certain groups of our populous. My administration would like to start focusing on education reforms, senior care reforms, healthcare reforms, and market reforms. We see that our society is stagnating and our economy is slowing growing and we'd like to fix both of those things. We'd like to make sure both have fast, but stable growth. If we realize that the growth is becoming unstable, then we'll take measures to stabilize it. Another thing we'd like to focus on is a more eastern-centralized focus when it comes to foreign policy. While it has been helpful that we have had the United States (Imperial Eagle) by our side for our entire history as a republic, I feel that we are ready centralize our foreign relations. I'd like to clarify that we aren't stepping away and turning our back on the United States, but we aren't going to wait on their silent approval to do things in this region, like what has been done under previous administrations. We'd like to focus on the approval our citizens.

Interviewer: That was a perfect lead-in to our next question! I have to reword it slightly due to you answering part of it, but the question is where do you plan on taking our foreign relations during the rest of your term? We now understand that you wish to centralize it on Japan, but could you give us any specifics?

President Akiya: I can, actually! While we were focusing on purely satisfying the United States, trying to keep in their good graces, we alienated ourselves here in Eastern Asia. While we do have connections with nations in this region, they aren't as strong as my administration would like them to be. Citizens have been polled on which nations they approve and disapprove of in many regards and the people of Japan approve of nations such as the Qing Dynasty (Da qing empire), Eulumia, and Lanfang- while other nations were either neutral or barely disapproving. That being said, we'd like to work with the aforementioned nations and build closer and tighter bonds with our regional neighbors. Rumors have gone around stating that my administration would fight against the Qing for Hokkaido and Okinawa, and I'm here to say that these are unfounded rumors and completely untrue. Japan lost the prefectures during World War II and they are, by now, Qing. Our goal isn't to fight with our neighbors, but to foster peace and prosperity with them. While the shift to a centralized foreign policy will take some time, I assure everyone that it can happen under my administration.

Interviewer: Speaking on the topic of the region, our final question before we move on to the viewer questions is where does Japan stand with ESAU and do you think Japan has any benefits in being in the union?

President Akiya: Yes, and no. Being that our economy is strong, despite growing at a lessened rate, and being that there is barely any economic stimulation from the union, the answer is no in that aspect. The economic stimulation that is present from the union has a very small impact on our economy but does allow a greater diversity when it comes to products in our markets. On the other hand, we provide economic boosts to the smaller nations of the union which allows the region to be stronger. Individually, I don't think the ESAU has much ground, but when looking at the eastern and southeastern region of Asia as a whole, you'll find the union's niche.

Interviewer: Thank you for those answers, Madam President. Now, we move on to the three questions that we picked from viewers. Our first question comes from Ishikura Chikage, a resident of Nagoya. She says this: "While the numbers from year to year have barely increased in her hometown, the rate of suicides due to overwork has risen throughout Japan. I find this very concerning for the younger generations and I fear that if nothing is done about it, it is going to just become worse as time goes on. Do you have any plans to curb the suicide rates due to overwork?"

President Akiya: As a matter of fact, we do. Being that we are trying to lower the rates and not raise them, we are running experiments to see the best overall method to lower the numbers. We are looking into working conditions, work hours, and many other aspects to see the diving force behind these heartbreaking, unnecessary deaths. Once we can locate the main problem that causes people to come to such a drastic decision, we will work hard and fast to make sure that the problem isn't a problem anymore. We also fear that is seeded in the Japanese tradition of seppuku, and if that is the case, we want to break that tradition very quickly. Unfortunately for the older generations, we have to move away from tradition for the most part, otherwise we will end up going in circles and, in the worse-case scenario, fading away. It is my administrations goal to make sure this doesn't happen.

Interviewer: Our second viewer question comes from Yasumoto Sanzo, a resident of Tokyo. He asks: "Is a stronger military really necessary if you are focusing on peace?"

President Akiya: In a perfect world, we wouldn't need a military. Sadly, we do not live in a perfect world. When I mentioned that we will focus on peace, I mean that we will not be on the offensive. However, that does not mean we aren't going to strengthen our military for a defensive role. The thing about war is, in defending yourself, you can switch to the offensive. The strengthening of our military isn't to be the aggressors or to make the first strike, but is to make sure that we aren't attacked or to defend ourselves by any means necessary when it comes to a defensive war. My goal is to not bring Japan into any wars, but the world doesn't care about the wants and goals of one, individual human.

Interviewer: Our last question, to end on a lighter note, is from Sada Chihiro. She is a student at Shoto Junior High School. She asks: "Will the celebration of Japan's history continue, because I am a big history buff when it comes to Japan. I really enjoyed the Kyoto Festival when my parents brought me. Are more things of that nature planned?"

President Akiya: Things of that nature are indeed planned for the future. My administration is working to have those in every prefecture across Japan. We are not only going to focus on the general history of Japan, but also the specific histories of each prefecture, and possibly the cities in which the festivals are being held. I'm glad that you are taking an interest in learning about your country and I hope that you continue to learn and expand your knowledge. To answer an unasked question of why these festivals are being held, we aren't holding to promote extreme nationalism like some people have proclaimed. We are holding the festivals in the spirit that people will want to come out and celebrate the rich history of Japan, and we are holding the festivals to also teach the mistakes of Japan in the past for the sole purpose of not making those same mistakes again. We want the festivals to be informational, but exciting. The next major festival will actually be held in Shibuya City, Tokyo two months from now and I hope to see you there, Ms. Sada.

Interviewer: Well, that's all the questions we have for this short interview. I'd like to thank you for taking the time out of your day, President Akiya, to come and answer some questions. Your answers today helped let us know where you plan to take Japan and also let us know that you are willing to be transparent, something that the Japanese people have been looking for. Without any other questions, that's time for us! We'll see you all next time!

Kum Jing-In: The Future of East Asia

The foundation of the Far Eastern Unionist Party, representing and defending the interests of the labouring masses of the Qing peoples through the merger of the Republican Worker's Army and the Eastern Republican Army is the greatest event in the political life of our people at the present time. This great event has aroused profound social interest and focused the attention of the entire people.

We have triumphantly completed the foundation of a unified party, amenable and representative of the people's interest.

In Pingyang and North Chosun, the activities of those people who are sincerely striving for the greater Republican movement are obstructed and the foundation of the FEUP has not yet taken place, owing to the reactionary Manchus, who sow dissent in our people's minds. As was expected, the reactionary forces has come all out to frustrate the merger of the republican political parties of the working people. The criminal acts of the imperialist have caused a waste of time, for only the unity and cohesion of the people throughout the Qing is the prerequisite to the building of a new country, and constitutes the most important guarantee of the political, economic, and cultural development of our country. We can attain victory only if we have a correct understanding and make a politically right assessment of this matter.

Four years have already passed since the Manchus destroyed the rebel revolutionaries to the South. Great changes have taken place in the political, economic and cultural life in the Empire in this short span of time. Our people who took power into their own hands, have come to enjoy the dealings of death, torture, and extreme pain never known at any period in the history of our country. This can be seen from the fact that entire families have been destroyed by the Qing, who march on heartlessly in a bid to restore order.

The FEUP, incorporating representatives of the broad masses of the people, strive to guard the interests of the people, maintaining close ties with them. All policies and activities of the Party are aimed, first of all, at the development of our country and the enhancement of the well-being of the people. In carrying out its policies, the Party relies on the firm unity of all social organizations and castes. This united front embraces millions from all walks of life. We will embrace all people into our ranks, to foster a pluralistic community of talent, intellect, and skill.

Before long, the people will hunger for change once more. An Empire once united must fall. Recently, the demonstrations in Pingyang that demanded better socioeconomic conditions, the abolition of the Eight Deliberations, and an end to pervasive government corruption have occurred. This shall be the backbone of the reforms, which constitutes the material basis for building a new state. The Party will pledge to do a great deal of work to improve the material and cultural life of the masses of the people and to ensure their political rights. We shall organize social organizations as the trade unions, with the result that the masses of the people freely participate in political life. The people are assured all political rights and complete freedom of speech, the press, assembly and association.

However, while the people may hunger for revolution, we must remember that reform is the true way forward. Violence will only benefit the imperialists in power, as their advantages and power will undoubtedly cast defeat on the smartest of rebels. We must push ahead with peace and shun death. Reform is the way to ensure mutual satisfaction.

Our first reforms shall be to protect the property of the national capitalists and encourage the business activities of individual entrepreneurs and traders. They provide all the entrepreneurs and traders who support the democratic reforms and are ready to contribute to the improvement of the people's livelihood with possibilities for having a share in the important economic branches like industry and trade, and assist them in every way. In this manner, we ensure free business activities to entrepreneurs and traders and, at the same time, enlist and utilize all available capital for the development of the national economy.

Our working class shall be granted the right to work at the state enterprises which have come under the people's ownership, and works for the people and society. The workers have won all rights and possibilities to take part in the state political life. Our peasants shall be freed from the feudal exploitation of the landlords, and be made able to work freely on the land which has come into their possession. The peasants who have become masters of land will take an active part in the building of a new state.

The positions of the intelligentsia shall also be changed. The absolute majority of our intellectuals have closely united with the entire working people. No longer will our intellectuals serve Manchu imperialism and the exploiters as before, but they shall work for their state, nation, and people. They regard the interests of the state and the people as their own. This means that their views and ideas have changed and that they are resolved to work with all devotion for the country and the people.

With the carrying out of the mentioned reforms, we may see radical changes take place in the socio-economic basis and the positions of all classes and strata in the Empire. The establishment of the FEUP through the merger of the two parties is of tremendous historical significance in expanding and strengthening the democratic forces and promoting reconstruction in our country.

In this way our Party has waged and is waging a common struggle in unity with all the political entities. We must maintain closer ties with members of the Qing court and the Republican radicals, and unite with them more firmly under the banner of one peoples, thereby steadily expanding and strengthening our united front. Mutual collaboration and negotiations are the way forward. A party, whatever party it may be, cannot hope for eternal existence. Because a party is not a party for its own sake, but a weapon necessary for achieving the aims of a certain class.

Certain people say that unity is impossible because of the difference between the peoples. If so, does the FEUP tally with those of the reactionary parties? No. True, there exist some differences between our peoples, but we have common and coincidental points. These common points provide us with the possibility of waging a joint struggle against the common enemy and uniting into one for accomplishing the same goals.

United, we stand; divided, we fall.

The independence and sovereignty of Asia's future can be achieved at an early date only if the masses are united as one. While the West is hegemonic, the East is Confucian. Full independence can only occur if the people resist colonialism with "Greater Asianism", in the greatest form of unity amongst the Koreans, Manchus, Mongols, Han, Evenks, Japanese, Ainus, and all the ethnic groups within this great country's borders.

The establishment of a unified party of the diverse masses is a decisive guarantee for accelerating the expansion and strengthening of the democratic forces and for assuring the triumph of reform. Let us concentrate all efforts on the struggle for the unity of the people who live under the Banner of the Azure Dragon! Let us reform this great nation to something even greater!

Victory belongs to the Asian people who aspire to unity, national independence and democracy. Let us all march forward confidently to victory!

Panic Grips Semarang

Just earlier today, the major Eulumian city of Semarang with a population of over 1.5 million people, located in Central Java on the coast of the Java Sea entered a state of widespread panic and disarray as the emergency tsunami system triggered the city's alarms. Typically the nation's Early Tsunami Warning System issues alerts via social media and news outlets to inform urban centers of potential tsunamis and their predicted paths, allowing local officials and the people ample time to begin evacuation and movement efforts to leave areas prone to flooding in search of higher ground, with the sirens activating anywhere from twenty minutes to moments before the actual waves begin to make landfall. However earlier today, the siren system was triggered accidentally due to reasons unknown, inciting widespread panic throughout Semarang between officials and citizens alike as nobody had received any sort of warnings ahead of time. Almost immediately the streets of Semarang erupted in chaos as hundreds of thousands of people began fleeing towards the city's edges further inland or began scaling buildings and trees in attempts to reach any sort of high ground whatsoever. With mass chaos and evacuation ensuing, Semarang was thrown into disorder and it's estimated about nine car accidents took place in the frenzy of evacuation. About an hour after the sirens were initially triggered, local officials quelled the panic as it became clear there was no impending tsunami in the area. Emergency workers' assessments determined minimal damage was sustained and there was no loss of life, only minor injuries from the automotive accidents occurring during the panic.

News of this quickly reached Jakarta and senior levels of government, poising the question "Why was the Tsunami Warning System activated without approval and who did it?" The Chancellor's office dispatched investigative officials to work with officials in Semarang to attempt to determine if the system malfunctioned and how to prevent future incidents, or locate whomever was responsible should it be the case, and to bring the responsible individuals under the full might of the law.

Emergency Vehicle Legislation Passes

Due to the crowded nature of Eulumia's major cities such as Jakarta, Medan, Penang, Padang, Makassar, Kuala Lumpur, Palembang, and Sorong, traffic congestion is a common problem despite extensive public transit systems that are utilized by millions on a daily basis. Due to the nature of this problem, emergency vehicles such as firetrucks and ambulances have a difficult time passing through crowded streets and in many instances have seen declination of patients' health due to prolonged periods of time wasted in traffic, not to mention the cost of wasted fuel. In order to combat this until further infrastructure projects can begin to alleviate traffic congestion, Jakarta has passed legislation making it illegal to impede the path of an emergency vehicle. Once an emergency vehicle is spotted with its lights and sirens activated, all individuals must move to the side of the road to the best of their ability to allow for swift passage. Inabilities to comply with this law will result in steep fines starting at 50,000 Rupiah. Furthermore, should vehicles continue to impede progress or not comply, emergency vehicles are granted the authority from Jakarta to aggressively push through and will not be responsible for any damage sustained vehicles who do not comply. Dashboard cameras are outfitted on every emergency vehicle and will be required to be active at all times of emergency transport and any failure to comply or the abuse of this authorization by emergency vehicle operators will result in fines, termination, and potential prison time.

Washington to see new building projects take shape

The City Council of Washington D.C has announced that a new building project dubbed Capitol Crossing has been approved and will start work next month. The Capitol Crossing project is privately funded, and will be one of the largest private developments in DC. This 2.2 million sqft project covers a 7-acre site above I-395 and consists of 5 mixed use buildings: 200 Massachusetts, 250 Massachusetts, 200 F Street, 600 Second, and 201 F Street. These five multi-use buildings will span three long blocks over the highway. The project is expected to have 75,000 square feet of retail, restaurants, and cafes, and below the project will be a 4-level garage with 1,146 parking spaces and 440 bicycle parking spaces. As a major infrastructure project, Capitol Crossing is expected to bring 8000 permanent jobs as well as contribute over 40-million-dollar tax per year once established. Developers of Capitol Crossing have claimed the project will create a greener, more sustainable city with Washington D.C.’s first “eco-district.” The five buildings are expected to be LEED Platinum certified and the finished site will feature cogeneration power, rainwater catchment, and eco-chimney filtration. The three blocks being built do not take land from Virginia or Maryland, but bring back land that was taken years ago. The neighborhoods of Capitol Hill and the East End, which have been long divided by the highway, will be reconnected in the near future due to the construction of a platform adjacent to Massachusetts Avenue. According to city officials, this $200 million platform built over the highway will enhance the vibrancy of east downtown community of Washington, D.C. According to Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, the development project will provide 150 residential units, and over one third of them are affordable to most of the median income. The project is owned and developed by Property Group Partners, with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill serving as master planners. The team also includes Roche-Dinkeloo as architect for the North Block (200/250 Massachusetts Ave) and Kohn Pederson Fox Associates as architect for the South Block. Property Group Partners is the leasing agent. Work is expected to last the next 5 years pending any delays and cost 1.3 billion dollars

Calls for Liberalisation of Abortion Laws

A pro-choice activist group called "Abortion Rights Romanovskaya" began collecting signatures for a referendum to be held on the issue of abortion in Romanovskaya. Currently, abortion is illegal in almost all circumstances, with the possibility of prison terms for those who decide to perform them. ARR, are proposing to legalise abortions up until 12 weeks as well as in cases of fetal deformity.

It should be pointed out that Princess Zephyrine, who is a devout Orthodox Christian, responded to the idea of a proposed referendum on abortion several weeks before ARR began their campaign by announcing that she would exercise her royal prerogative to veto any change in law that relaxed restrictions on abortion. Since the ARR made their intentions to trigger a referendum known, the Princess was contacted for further comment. Her spokesperson, Tanya Dolganova, read out the Princess's latest statement:

"My view remains unchanged. There is no doubt in my opinion that foeticide is not an acceptable solution for an unwanted pregnancy."

It remains to be seen whether such a referendum will take place, but there is no doubt that it will face stiff opposition from the Princely Family. It marks a very rare occasion in which the ruling monarch has actively taken a stance on a particular issue, last seen in 1987 by the former monarch Prince Vasili when he vetoed a referendum on the banning of hunting deer.

Eulumia wrote:October 18th - Eulumian Independence Day

An air of festivity and excitement saturate the atmosphere of the nation as today marks the seventy fifth year of complete independence from the European colonizer, Orange-bourgogne following World War II. An endless amount of foods, snacks, and desserts are being prepared, filling the air with savory, sweet, and all around delicious aromas to treat the senses in tandem with colorful decorations and creative artworks adorning walls and windows everywhere. Eulumian flags were draped at every opportunity and many more flew high and proud in the winds across the islands as the people of the nation bustled about in their blue and white garments to match the national flag, many of them donning moon orchids as accessories as well. From the island of eastern Papua New Guinea to western Sumatra, the entire nation was abuzz with festivities and celebrations, bringing together countless different peoples under one banner, one nation, one Eulumia.

Earlier in the day, Grand Chancellor Rayyan addressed the nation as a whole on public television and radio, giving a brief history of the Republic dating back millennia to modern times before laying out the plans for the nation for the near and far future alike. Her speech was met with applause before she finished her delivery with, "We may be many different peoples across these many islands, but we are all united under one banner, in one nation, we are all Eulumians! Molitva Digernia!" The nation seemed to enjoy her speech as applause and cheering erupted throughout the many cities, from the megacity of Jakarta to smaller cities in the East of the Republic like Sorong. Today was a day to forget about all differences and celebrate Eulumia, celebrate your family, your friends, your neighbors, your town, city, province, region, nation as a whole, for Eulumia is truly united in its diversity.

Following her morning speech, the Chancellor personally greeted the delegations from Lanfang-, Da qing empire, and Furstia at the Soekarna-Hatta International Airport, welcoming them to her nation. Once the greetings were exchanged, the entire entourage made its way to a more remote location in a large outdoor tropical garden adorned with fountains, statues, and all matters of local tropical flora, located within the Senatorial district of the Jakarta Metropolis. Around the edges of the distant perimeter glowed the lights of personal houses of foreign ambassadors and even the monolithic Senate building itself. Many chairs and tables were situated neatly under a variety of pavilions for the honored guests to rest and dine at as servers provided a traditional Eulumian meal followed by dessert. The entire arrangement sat near a large pond, off the surface of which reflected the glittering stars above as the day slowly turned to night and lightning bugs began to glow in the air, as well as the occasional duck wandering over to snatch up any crumbs it might garner from the dinner. Eventually Chancellor Rayyan stood at her table and hushed the crowd before speaking.

Chancellor Rayyan: "I would like to thank each and every one of you for attending this important holiday here in Eulumia. To see all of you here before me assures me that is a bright and prosperous future between our nations that I only wish to deepen and strengthen with time. Thank you all again for visiting Eulumia on our seventy fifth independence day, this is an event near and dear to the heart of every Eulumia and I am no exception. So I am grateful for you all attending tonight, Now before we all disband for the night, I have one last treat for all of you. Selamat hari kemerdekaan tujuh puluh lima!"

As if on cue (which is likely was), a massive and beautiful firework display began across the pond, providing everyone with a front row seat. The colors and shapes were coordinated to tell a story, and all around in the distance various people set off their own firework displays to celebrate the holiday, explosions of color dotting the night from every angle in a beautiful array.

D.C Metro Silver Line to begin construction by next month

Following the recent announcement regarding the Capitol Crossing project, the Washington D.C. City Council has approved the expansion of the city's Metro Line, mainly the new Silver Line. Broken up into two phases, Phase One will link the Capital to Dulles International Airport and to four edge cities: Tysons, Reston, Herndon, and Ashburn. It is expected to be complete within the next three years at best. It will be followed by Phase Two which add to the line another 11.5 miles leading to Ashburn in Loudoun County, via Washington Dulles International Airport, adding six stations to the line. The total cost of the project is slated at 6.8 billion dollars will last a further three years. The $6.8 billion project is Metro's largest expansion by route mileage since its inception in 1976 and is expected to create a further 6,000 jobs in regards to the project. Once work has been completed, the Ashcroft Digging Corporation, which is handling the project, will move back west to help work on the California High Speed Rail network, which is slated to be completed in six years barring delays.

Congress to debate statehood for Washington D.C.

A new report from sources close to several Congress members and the President have reported that Congress will begin debating the possibility of creating the nation's 53rd state out of Washington D.C. The new state, if passed, would be named "State of Washington, Douglass Commonwealth" both in honor of the nation's first President and abolitionist Frederick Douglass who was from Maryland. Though some have voiced concern regarding statehood for the District of Columbia, such as the new state being able to influence the national capital, these concerns are baseless said several supporters and would finally give to voice to the city's 1 million inhabitants. The boundaries of the proposed new state would encompass the district’s residential and business areas, but would exclude the federal monuments, the White House, the Capitol Building, the United States Supreme Court Building and the federal executive, legislative and judicial office buildings that are near the National Mall and the Capitol. Those excluded areas would then serve as the District of Columbia and would remain under federal oversight. If passed, the new state would add two new senators and five congressmen and the non-voting delegate of the city, John Forrest, would be on of the state's first senators. it is expected that the debate will last the next week or more but it is possible the nation will have to add a new star to the national flag very soon.

Президиум Верховного Совета - Presidium of the Supreme Soviet

The Danubian Civil War was a gamble that the Soviets took and, in the face of adversity, defeated the evil forces of Infiny and the Union. The gamble paid off. The encircled Soviet Union suddenly gained a number of allies directly and indirectly from the results of such a conflict. Tomsky was thankful of the support of his party members and he was even more grateful for the ICC. With some stability in foreign affairs, the Soviet Union could finally look inwards to rebuild and reestablish its former glory. In a private meeting of the Presidium, Premier Tomsky laid down the road ahead for the Soviet Union:

"Our collapse almost 30 years ago was one of the greatest geopolitical disasters in modern history. The Danubian Civil War has been one of the greatest geopolitical events of this 21st Century. It has given us space. It has given us oxygen to an otherwise moribund Union. Our work and the work of our allies secured a stable environment in Europe where Communist ideals could thrive once again. While in the West, they kill off Communists for their beliefs, in Europe we provide a safe haven for free thinking. For a thinking not shackled by persecution disguised as "democracy and free thinking.

"Our work is far from over. But we must also look inward and realize that our Soviet Union is not the Soviet Union of 30 years ago, of 40, 50 years ago. We were weakened. We were wounded. But we were not destroyed. Now we must look to rebuild and we must look towards achieving that past glory that our Proletariat achieved. We must embark on careful and methodological reconquest of former Soviet lands. Реконкиста. A Reconquista sort of speak. Comrades! We are not a Soviet Union without our Soviet Republics. If we don't act now, we risk losing any window of opportunity to reunite the former USSR. We must not allow it! We must look to the East and retake what is rightfully ours! Retake what is rightfully of the Proletariat!

This will not be an effort that can be done by an old man like me. It will be an effort of many future premiers and future presidiums. What we do today will set the basis for what the future leaders of this Union will be able to accomplish. And so, today my dear Comrades, I ask for your confidence! To begin this path towards absolute victory!

Moldova: Internal Instability

Chișinău — Recent instabilities in the Balkans and in Eastern Europe have finally spilled onto Moldova! Years of economic stagnation and growing wealth inequality have led to increasing tensions, specially among the middle and working classes of the country. To make matters worse, recent political scandals involving bribery and traffic of influences have disillusioned the frustrated middle class.

Despite the scandals, Moldava's President, Ion Untilă, is steaming ahead for a reelection bid. The people take to the streets! The first night, the protest is small and concentrated near the capitol building of the nation. Their chants of "Untilă Out!" are loud for a small crowd. They wave flags late into the night. Most of the city was asleep. A light rain caressed the cityscape. Untilă sent his police force to put down the small protest. At first they are successful and drive the group back 100 meters or so. But then they decide to stand their ground, coming face to face with the police. The tensions are high and continue to grow. In the chaos and heat of the moment, a police officer shoots a protestor in the chest. The man struggles to breathe. He cries out that he doesn't want to die. His gasps for air get longer apart as he stares into the night. The calm rain wets his face. He dies a few minutes later.

The police begin to withdraw hoping that the night would give them cover. But the damage was done. The few reporters who were filming filmed enough to unleash a wave of anger across the nation. Soon, the short but powerful clips flooded the internet and Moldavan social media. An initial crowd of 100 or so protestors grew into the thousands by morning. In other towns of the country, people began to gathered, outraged by what they witnessed. Untilă was in trouble.

Moscow — If social media was an event, the KGB would win gold at every Olympics every time. The Lubyanka, very quietly, began their work on the web. Their comrades over at the newly-created Cyberwarfare Forces weren't ready to operate yet so the KGB would need to do most of the heavy-lifting on this one. Just like the rain is a given in London, surely enough mysterious forces (:putinsmirk:) began to promote the video on Moldavan social media along with incendiary comments. As the day progressed, the videos and related-posts began to flood the rest of European social media, including the tightly controlled Soviet social media - weird how that got through. Less than 24 hours after the death of the protestor, the headlines where focused on Moldava, a nation that little by little, post by post, got closer to a point-of-no-return.

At the Kremlin, busy days kept most government officials moving left and right to get through their tasks. But lunch hour was sacred, even at the highest echelons of Soviet power. Tomsky along with some members of the Politburo, munch on their dishes. The TV was on but served mostly as background noise for the chatty comrades. When breaking news from Moldava came on, everyone suddenly quieted. By lunchtime, Moldava had dramatically worsened. More protestors flooded the streets and some hotspots of riots were beginning to show.

Tomsky stared intently. He suddenly got up and walked towards one of the windows of the room. Politburo members stopped paying attention to the TV and looked at their comrade. As he stared out the window and into the distance, a grin grew on Tomsky's face.

Referendum on Abortion to be Held

The Referendum Commission has announced that it has received enough signatures to trigger a referendum on amending the current laws with regards to abortion. The referendum will be due to take place in 3 weeks time from today. As it currently stands, abortion is illegal in most circumstances and is punishable by prison terms for the woman and the physician with the only exception being when the womans life or health is in serious danger.

The proposed reforms include allowing abortions up to 12 weeks of pregnancy or when the child would be born disabled. The organisation "Abortion Rights Romanovskaya" have argued that these measures are urgently needed in order to advance womens rights in the country which has lagged behind many other European nations. A number of deputies from the Imperial Duma have voiced support for the reforms, including two government ministers.

The referendum faces stiff opposition however. We already learned about the Princely Families opposition to the proposals, with the Princess threatening to veto any motions passed that would liberalise abortion laws in the country. The Metropolis of Vyborg and All Romanovskaya have unsurprisingly also voiced opposition to the laws, keeping in line with the teachings of Orthodox Christianity. Priests have already been reported of telling parishioners that voting in favour of abortion would be a "sinful act".

Prime Minister Daria Shchegolyayeva has made it clear that the Government will not be taking a collective stance on the issue, leaving each Minister to make up their own mind. She stated; "in sensitive matters of morality such as the issue of abortion, it is important we allow each person to vote freely without any directives from myself or another authority.

The Imperial Palace, Mogadishu

'And me, admiral? Did you think about my legacy? I don't want to be remembered as Valeria II, the war Empress!'

'But Your Higness. Infiny is falling behind militarily, we are increasingly incapable to keep up with the Soviets, the Furstians, and the Danubians.'

'So what? The Furstians, Danubians, and Soviets are not our enemies, but peace-loving nations such as ourselves. We are well-capable of deterence, admiral, and you are well-aware of that. Why waste funds messing with the business of sovereign nations, when our own people are dying, admiral! Instead of a naval drill, why were your ships not present at the mouth of the Shebelle to aid with the defenses on Mogadishu and Merca? Your navy, admiral, has as its first priority the protection of the Infinian people.'

The large, mustachioed men stood as the Empress tore apart his claim that a more well-funded navy was an absolute requirement for the realm. The Empress - a left libertarian pacifist, was having none of it, as he could clearly tell. But that wouldn't be end of story - no was not an acceptable answer.

'Your Excellency. As you have well pointed out, several of our most important cities, such as Acria, Chibu, Malao, Mogadishu, Mombasa and Rhapta are indeed vulnerable to floods - and to any hostile power seeking to wreak havoc upon the Infinian shore. If it's not foreign powers that you are worried about, you might need to consider the threat of piracy when the navy lacks the size to efficiently fight it. Piracy of the Somali coast could do enormous damage to our reputation, and to our trade, as well. It's imperative for Infinian well-being that we are equipped with the right tools that we may protect the Infinian society.

'You have a point, admiral. This is what the Infinian navy should indeed be used for. But please answer me this. How exactly do we make sure that the Infinian navy is well-equipped to fight off pirates and protect peace at our shores, but is not running off on some fancy raid on Ragusa? I don't want that to happen in my tenure.'

'Ragusa was a catastrophic diplomatic failure, I believe we can all agree on that. The defeat of my forces is still being used by the communists to stigmatize Infiny as an evil and imperialistic navy.'

'Admiral, it is up to you to find a balanced navy that can protect our shores and our interests, but which does not ruin our budget - nor tarnish our reputation ever again. Infiny needs to radiate that it seeks nothing but a place among the peace-loving nations of this world. We are not a militaristic powerhouse, nor would I ever want Infiny to become that. I will speak with Mr. Wecht soon, and tell him about the chat we had just now. He will reach out to you very shortly on how to proceed. As a former commander of VENOM, I believe he has the perfect knowledge to imagine the size and capabilities of a functional and proportional Infinian navy. Am I understood?'

'Yes, your Highness.'
