What the-

Well folks, I did it. I voted. I filled out the ballot and took it to the county office, because while it came in the mail, I'm only satisfied if I drop it off in person and see it physically go into the secure box. So that's done. I've done the most important thing now, and in Pennsylvania, to boot. I've also spoken to my class where I have seniors to encourage them to register and vote if they are eligible, and to my happy surprise, some of them already did.

My heart was literally pounding filling out the ballot, and it felt like a ride of destiny or fate going to the county administration building to drop it off.

I fervently hope that it works. So much depends on this election, and so much depends on Pennsylvania, in that regard.

I'd like to skip ahead to November 6th, please.

P.s. Glad you voted, Ruinenlust. Nothing is as critical than having your voice heard. Especially, in this election. Glad others registered also from your class, the younger voices need to be hughly encouraged to participate. I'm not a fan in hinting to others to vote 1 way, normally, but the crazy has to go here, and HE needs to see the back of a cell.

Happy weekend once it arrives, gang.

Here at Forest we value meaningful and interesting posts. Please don't double post, especially triple posting. Being rude to others on here and posting one off sentences one after another is a one way ticket to getting banned. We don't like doing that so could you possibly stay within the framework of the RMB just a tad?

Yugoslavistan's message was suppressed because it just wasn't needed on the RMB and added no real value, and it just clogs up space and makes our RMB cluttered.

Edit: Not saying you can't make shorter posts on here, but they have to at least be meaningful in one way or another. There's a difference between saying "Hi! How's everybody doing today? I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself!" and then just "Hi guys".

Edit Edit: I always forget but do you put the period after quotation marks or before?

Forested Plains wrote:Hi forest! How is everyone?

Just been sick for a whole week now. Not sure what it is, but it was really bad last weekend (Saturday-Monday) with fever, body felt weak, chills, coughing, congestion, the full works. Since Tuesday, it's been coughing and congestion still. I'm ready to be over with it.

McClandia Doge 2 wrote:Edit Edit: I always forget but do you put the period after quotation marks or before?

Periods and commas goes inside quotation marks (Source: the English degree I never completed/earned). Question marks go outside of the quotation marks when the quoted text isn't a question itself. Likewise exclamation points and semicolons go outside of the quotation marks if they aren't part of the quoted text.

Strange. Been trying to get better, myself... got sick start of the start back up for college and have been completely wiped out half the time since (not to mention, still having some breathing and digestive issues, on top of the brain fog). Been sleeping well, trying to exercise (a little), eating fish in case it's an omega 3 / protein / amino acids issue (I'm normally a market vegetarian), taking some extra zinc and magnesium and cod liver oil, continuing my D K B12 ginko and pananx ginseng, getting fresh air, opened all of my windows in case I'm co2-poisoning myself (spoiler: I may've also been doing that lol), etc. Ngl I feel marginally worse lol. Still got a couple of things to try but dang just getting through the bare minimum of my work's been a struggle. Although I will say, my mood's been pretty dang good so I can't really complain ;)

As an aside: Very glad you decided to upgrade Forest Rangers to Wardens, Garbelia. (Even though they, and Keeper, technically all sort-of mean the same thing ;P) This indeed seems to be the time of year when we have an increase in both spam, and newcomers as they move here to avoid spam from elsewhere lol. Can't wait until after Z-Day. While I'm not against individuals being friendly and saying "hi!", it'd be nice if folks took the time to read our WFE. Our long-standing posting culture's listed on there, as is the link to our discord server https://discord.gg/c2Uw6MN where you CAN share your meaningless thoughts and inquiries that's right this is another shameless plug JOIN our DISCORD TODAY!!!! >>> https://discord.gg/c2Uw6MN <<< anyway. *sniff* yeah please don't spam on our RMB, nice work ROs, thanks a bunch.

edit: forgot to preview first, and also forgot urls don't work on the rmb. it's amazing how many things you abstractly know on a daily basis can escape your mind beyond recollection!

Yeah, I'm gonna second Jutsa here. To the newbies, if you don't know, I'm the Deputy Forest Keeper, so second in command behind Garbelia, our Forest Keeper (hi!), and while we love that you're here and wanna say hi, please please PLEASE read the damn WFE. We're ones for serious and thought out discussion on this here RMB, so we don't allow one liners, spam etc which simply saying hi does fall under. Usually we tend to be fine with newbies who haven't taken the time to read the rules innocently saying hi, but there's been an uptick in these kind of messages recently, so we're more likely to just jump straight to proper consequences right now.

As Jutsa has pointed out, we do have an active Discord server which is the place for Forestians to chat informally with each other. It's linked in the WFE which is another great reason to read it to find out more about this region.

I wish I could too. I live in a swing state as well (Nevada) and I'm tired of commercials about how every politician and political candidate is an absolute carrot.

??????????

I don’t have a whole lot to add but as someone non-governmentally affiliated I concur to keeping the WFE interesting and serious (I use it as reading material on the toilet if I have nothing to contribute) and also join the Discord, which is very a fun time!

Anyways, hope everyone is great this evening/afternoon!

I am doing very well! I spent a bunch of time outside relaxing in nature. Weather has been lovely near me recently, being a nice mild temperature, a bit warmer than October normally is but it’s a nice change of pace from the usual cold :P

You are our featured nation apparently, congratulations!

The original quote has additional info in terms of the context. I had been running a Spotlight on Dispatches (updated sporadically) add a little light on people's new dispatches. Has been some time since I had last done that. They get added to the WFE elsewhere. Just a nice wee highlight event. Normally I'd write. "Don't forget to upvote the hard work". It gives me an excuse sample some.peoples dispatches too and share some of the amazing work to, hopefully, a slightly wider audience.

Jutsa sounds like you haven't yet tried MORE sleep , rest, and let the body do its immune system thing. Just wait for the Christmas illness when you stop! What are you studying, out of curiosity?

Telgan wrote:Jutsa sounds like you haven't yet tried MORE sleep , rest, and let the body do its immune system thing. Just wait for the Christmas illness when you stop! What are you studying, out of curiosity?

I have lol, don't you worried. My doctor suggested trying less sleep (this was before getting sick sick again, I'm always pretty fatigued) since I often sleep around 9 hours (sometimes more), buuut from my experience it either does nothing or is a net negative, though I can't rule out I just haven't stuck to it consistently enough yet. (Kinda hard to with these noisy-as neighbors and my creative-as head. ;p) And the last few days I've just had to nap for like 2-3 hours each day, although consequently nighttime sleep is closer to 7-8. Either way, yeah, I don't think a lack of sleep's the main issue ;P And alas, seems like anytime I get anything my whole family does. (Sometimes even family I don't meet face-to-face often and are clear across the state, weirdly enough. >.>) Gonna keep working at it til I figure out what it is though :)

Also, currently studying for public administration! Would love to begin work/study (in part to make sure it's indeed the right path for me!), but again, really gotta get over whatever the heck this thing is first. I've definitely had anxiety much this year on top of the background fatigue, but... I'm still not convinced they're one and the same given I don't always have one while having the other. (And usually if I get anxious it's as a result of a pileup of stuff from being wiped out of it in the first place ;p) After being sick 6-7 times (I've begun to lose track) this past year I wouldn't be shocked if it's just a lengthy recovery, so rn I'm just kinda vibing through this and trying to get what I need to do done. Other than that things are looking pretty good though. :)

Hope all's going well with you and the folks in Philosophers! Will try to keep in touch. Have a feeling I'll be a little bit less active this term than the last one, but I'll be sure to drop by once in a while ^^

Update on the being sick, my partner thinks he and I had a cold for the first three really bad days and then got bronchitis from it, which can last 2-3 weeks. It's been one week and I'm beyond tired of coughing.

Of course, we're just basing this theory on symptoms listed online and aren't going to the doctor since online sources suggest a doctor would only tell us to get over-the-counter medicine for the symptoms anyway.

Hope everybody else is staying well as summer changes into fall. Personally, lots of folks around here have been getting sick. One friend tested positive for COVID last week, my manager's kids are sick, another person we know has pneumonia. A lot of folks at my partner's work have had colds and stomach bugs lately. Just seems like it's that time of year, so I wish health upon you all.

Anxious and Kevin wrote:I've just started a module at uni on the EU, so I've been thinking a bit about A&K's relationship with the EU, given that canonically it's located in Europe, so I thought I'd pose this question to get some discussion going: What is your nation's relationship like with international organisations & alliances? (e.g. EU, NATO, UN, BRICS) Feel free to talk about in universe organisations that don't exist IRL if you want to.

Although I originally came up with Vantser many years ago as an amalgamation of Scandinavian countries with some sci-fi concepts and themes, I found those countries almost too 'perfect' and reinterpreted a Confucian Vantser last year. If the country was located in the real world, it would be a technocratic or semi-autocratic city state either on the coast of Central California or Fujian/Zhejiang/Guangdong. I'll consider the latter scenario as that's the one I've played with the most.

The Vantserian government, led by a modern strongman and a politically consolidated national council with a democratic facade, would follow a policy of 'exceptionalism' because Vantserians are reluctant to relinquish their independence, particularly to the powers that may be. Vantser would be an active participant in international organisations such as the UN, WTO, APEC, and G20, while maintaining cordial relations with the countries in its immediate vicinity. For example, it would garner strong favour with neighbouring China by strongly endorsing the Belt and Road Initiative, while balancing the United States' presence in the Pacific by promoting mutually substantial economic and political interests.

Vantser would definitely refuse any formal association with NATO, SCO, or a SEATO-like organisation, a position which might even be to the preference of its neighbours. Vantser could have a free trade agreement with the EU - which wouldn't preclude the occasional jab at the state of human rights and democracy in the country - and would definitely have a strong working relationship with ASEAN. The Vantserian government might operate a lot like a multinational corporation in that while it would deliver condemnation of certain actions or countries through voting in the UN, it would purposely neglect to make any formal positions that would affect the bottom line and threaten its non-interference. Those views might be better expressed by public discourse, to the extent that it doesn't affect the country's stability above all else. Many of Vantser's 'lesser' bilateral engagements would therefore be with the realistic aim of advancing its economic and trade relations.

It's depicted in Forest along similar lines. In the absence of any regional unions or associations, Vantser is an active participant in Forest's regional development goals. For example, Vantser was ranked 169th when first mentioned in Ransium's "Greenness Index" in March 2024, which led to the Vantserian government announcing initiative to improve the country's ranking to fall within the top 100 greenest countries in the region. Although Vantser fell short of this goal in the September 2024 Greenness Index, it had moved up by nearly 50 positions in the index and became signatory to a Climate Treaty. Vantser's voting pattern in the World Assembly has also been in line with Forest's since its residency in the region.

Hope you feel better soon! I've also been sick for a week and it was especially bad over the long weekend, which sucked, but at least it's starting to clear up just in time for my mid-terms. I think my Pfizer™ microchip might need an update :/
