Don't like it here? Don't like your opinions being "suppressed?"

Then LEAVE. Stop posting and just get it over with already.

Jesus, I shouldn't have to explain common sense to some of you guys. If you don't like it here, there are thousands of other regions that are more than willing to take you.

Stop wasting our damn time.

Riussia wrote:What is the meaning of life?

Hello comrade.
This is a depressing truth you ask for.
The meaning of life is nothing. There is no divine purpose. We exist to exist, an insult to matter around us. Our purpose is to have children, yet we have evolved past that goal, as it's easy in modern times
The meaning of existence now, is to contribute to the community. It could be from picking up a single piece of trash to contributing great reforms to an outdated system.
If we had a purpose, we'd know. There'd be impulses. Living is our purpose. Existence is our duty to ourself, and positive influence is our duty to others.
The specialization of roles requires sacrifice, though. Soldiers doomed to die are needed because all it takes is one nation who wants to invade another, for everyone else to need an army. Some of us are designated by social class to work the rest of our lives flipping burgers, driving cars, typing essays.

Life itself is not pleasure, it is a survival game taken over by the need for pleasure turning into politics.

It is fun creating one's own ideological values on paper

BEAUTIFUL ! This is a piece of ART

Call me lame but I do believe that being suppressed should follow a legal process. Not actual laws but abide rules that aren't influenced by ones biases and emotions.

You can't praise Hitler (good), but saying something about how you don't like cheese shouldn't be suppressed.

It's okay, we're doing what we can now. You're always right.

Not when people keep re-earthing old controversies... how much did Einswenn pay you to post this message?

Bathera wrote:Preference implies you can choose

Not to jump into semantics, I prefer carrots to celery because I think carrots taste better. I cannot control my tastebuds. I prefer wearing muted colours than bright colours because I think I look better in them, but I don't recall making a conscious decision on my fashion tastes or favourite colours. I prefer to date women because I'm a heterosexual male and am not attracted to men. Having a preference does not denote making a choice of what your preference is, the only thing you can choose is if you'll act in line with your preferences, which is a conscious decision, but still doesn't alter your preferences.

Einswenn wrote:lol you shouldn't even try. I've been promised cookies for like 4 years now and I see no shipping box from NZ at my door for all this time

I have never stolen cookies nor promised cookies. This is a targeted defamation campaign against my upstanding moral character.

Einswenn wrote:it's the same kind of christians who completely ignore inconvenient part of their fav book but cite only those verses they find suitable for hate

The Bible was written and compiled and translated by men, likely men with agendas or their own interests. Yes, it may contain many helpful lessons and perspectives on how to behave and treat others, especially within the context of living a faith-filled Christian life. But Christians who state that every letter must be followed absolutely while ignoring many aspects that don't reinforce their worldview are perpetuating a historic cycle of oppression by the Church. You can't call yourself a Christian while espousing intolerance and discrimination. How many times must I remind other Christians that Jesus himself was asked what were the most important things to do and his answer was "love God, love your neighbour". It's that simple. If there's something in the Bible that contradicts with that, then ignore it, because Jesus - the representative and son of God on Earth - explicitly says ut's less important than those two overarching ideas.

And, as a Christian, I'd hate to live in an Islamic state governed by the Quran. So why should non-Christians be forced to live in a state governed by the Bible?

Ethics aspire to universality. Your basis of living an ethical life cannot be determined by something, like faith, which is not universal. You can use your faith to reinforce and support our own ethical choices, but you should not use your faith to dictate what is ethical and moral to others.
