Ok we are restarting the RP again. This time we all agreed on it being a Space Scifi RP that takes place hundreds of thousands of years before the ST Abbaddon RP.
Here is the beginning of it:
"You want me to what?" Emperor Brian of Draganisia asked his daughter Alexis as they had a meeting in his main office.
Alexis answered. "I need your point of view about the Dragon Empire before it fell and what lead to that moment. If we are going to stop the Black Fleet from destroying us as well then the rest of us need to know exactly what happened."
Brian didn't believe it would make a difference. "Even I don't know everything that lead to our fall."
Alexis didn't care. "But you do know enough that could make a difference. "
Finallyhe agreed to tell her what happened.
"Fine. But you should know by now to be careful what you wish for.
OK 100,000 Years Ago a great civilization called the Dragon Empire ruled over the galaxy. Now although it is called that Dragons like us were not the only race within it. There were humans and many other races as well. The minor races were well cared for and were thriving to the point where they were all extremely happy at the time... However as with all great civilizations things were never what they seemed to be. And in the end it fell not just because of Galen and the Black Fleet... but because of ourselves as well.
This is my story about how the Dragon Empire was before its fall and what lead to it.
( The Fall of the Dragon Empire won't happen until the very end of the RP whenever that may be. However that won't be for a long time as long as the RP remains ACTIVE.)
“Welcome to Nouveaurich-2. We have now landed in CLK-0 Spaceport in the planetary capital of Novel. Local time is half past noon with days on Nouveaurich-2 spanning twenty-four hours. The outside temperature is a lovely 291 Kelvin with scattered showers of hydrogen dioxide. The planet’s natural atmosphere is composed primarily of nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide and is considered to be safe to breathe for carbon-based lifeforms. If anyone needs help with artificial air, kindly let our attendants know and they will be happy to assist.” The pilot took a second to breathe. “Acceleration due to gravity is 9.9 meters per second squared. This has been your captain, Dae-Young Lee. Once again, I'd like to thank everyone for choosing to fly Nouveau Galactic and I hope to see everyone again soon.”
Obafemi Smith had felt the gravity adjust long before they had entered the planet’s atmosphere but the seatbelt signs only unlit after the spacecraft had docked with passenger tubes securing itself against the doors. He happily noted how everyone on board seemed to obey the signs - Obafemi remembered being on flights to other planets where the other passengers would float about before slamming against the fuselage interior as soon as the G forces kicked in.
CLK-0 Spaceport was clean to the point of sterility, which was exactly how Obafemi liked it. Though it was crowded - CLK-0 was reportedly one of the busiest spaceports in the star system - everyone seemed to be headed somewhere and knew exactly where to go. It was the exact opposite of his birth planet.
It wasn’t long before Obafemi found himself at the immigration counter, face to face with a friendly-looking droid.
“What is the purpose of your visit to Nouveaurich-2, Mr. Smith?”
“I’ve been hired by Anansi Networks as a roboticist.”
The droid whistled, a musical yet artificial sound that may challenge organic lips. “Anansi Networks! They do good work.”
Obafemi smiled pleasantly. He knew the droid was running a background check as they spoke. It was probably simultaneously conversing with the Talent Resources server at Anansi Networks to confirm his contract.
“I see you’ve been awarded a talent visa. You are eligible for Nouveauriche citizenship. You just need to submit additional documents to verification and appear for an in-person interview six weeks from now. Do you wish to undergo naturalization?“
“Yes, I intend to do so.”
“Excellent! We are happy to have you.”
“Is that all?”
“Yes, everything seems to be in order. Welcome to Nouveaurich-2, Mr. Smith.”
Obafemi exited the spaceport and breathed in the brisk, clean air. It smelled like home.
Obafemi had a successful day at Anansi Networks and was enjoying the evening in his spacious apartment overlooking the city of Novel. He switched on the news, eager to hear the events of the day unfold.
A woman in a navy blazer began to read the news. “Our top story tonight is the massive protests at a farming community in Titan-8. The colony's farmers are up in arms over the introduction of a genetically-enhanced super crop, called Stable Wheat, that promises to alleviate galactic hunger. This can potentially render traditionally-grown crops obsolete.”
Obafemi watched with interest as the news anchor described the protests and the implications of the new crop.
“Stable Wheat requires drastically less fertile soil and can even be cultivated by city dwellers without any agricultural experience. This removes the advantage of growing crops in specialized communities such as the ones in Titan-8. Besides the threat to their livelihood, farmers are insisting that since the crop was designed using artificial intelligence from genetic profiles of plants cultivated on Titan-8, Stable Wheat is in breach of copyright law. A class action lawsuit has been filed.”
Obafemi scratched his beard.
The screen switched to a balding man with gold teeth who was introduced as the attorney behind the class action lawsuit. “They say copyright can only be applied to artistic works, but what are farmers if not artists? Stable Wheat may hide behind a purported mission to alleviate hunger, but I see it for what it is: a way for the elites in Nouveaurich-2 to erase our heritage and take away our livelihoods.”
Obafemi scratched his head.
The program transitioned to another man in a trim suit who was the legal counsel for Stable Crop. “Stable Wheat was designed to help those in need, not to take away the livelihoods of farmers. More food is always better. Stable Wheat was a product of years of research and development, and our company has the right to patent our product.”
The program went back to the anchor in the news studio. “While the Justice Department has been keeping mum on the case, we reached out to an expert to get their views.”
The expert, a professor from the University of Novel, was asked to weigh in on the debate. “The Nouveauriche Federation will always decide in favor of the consumer and the introduction of Stable Wheat represents more choices in the market. Furthermore, our judges have always made it clear that copyright law exists to incentivize innovation such as Stable Wheat, so they are unlikely to rule in favor of the class action lawsuit.”
Obafemi thought about the implications of the case. He knew that regardless of the outcome, the introduction of Stable Wheat would be a game-changer for the farming community. He also wondered about the implications for the rest of the galaxy, and how this case could be a precedent for other similar cases in the future. Obafemi switched off the news and took one last look at the city of Novel before he went to bed.
