Lebanese Referendum

After International reactions to the unification of Egypt and Lebanon, Sisi has announced a referendum. International observers for democracy were there observing all polling places, from Sudan, Turkey, and also Brazil. Lebanese people nationwide, all adults of all ethnicities voted. The Results were as followed.

[yes]: 65.7%
[no]: 34.1%
[invalid]: 0.2%
Therefore, even with international observers, it was proven that the unification was just and fair, with most Lebanese people saying yes to the vote, and also rejecting all implications from Iran and Saudi Arabia that say it was rigged.

President Khalil Departs On Diplomatic Tour
___________

The first seven months of the Khalil Presidency have been marked by a pre-occupation with foreign events. The Iranian Crisis utterly destabilized the region and the administration found itself struggling to look inward. Despite criticisms for domestic inaction, President Khalil will be taking his first diplomatic tour outside of the Arab States. Accompanied by Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Defense Minister Khaled al-Obaidi, Khalil will visit four countries on his journey. Firstly he will meet in Riyadh, then off to Tripoli, Madrid, and Paris. The meetings are likely relevant to the currently heightened Middle Eastern tensions.

The President Airliner touches down at King Khalid International Airport. President Khalil is escorted to the Saudi Royal Palace and waits to meet with the King or possibly Minister al-Khalifa.

The Brazilian government deems the Lebanese referendum, honest and acceptable.

"We see no issue with regard to the referendum in Lebanon. The vote was fair and free. The Brazilian observers requested at the behest of President El Sisi did not report any irregularities. Therefore on behalf of the Brazilian people, I congratulate the union of Egypt and Lebanon. The Federative Republic looks forward to expanding relations with the enlarged Egyptian-Lebanese state."

Khalil would take a moment to shake hands with and personally greet each member of the King's entourage, stoping to exchange brief pleasantries with Minister al-Khalifa. He would turn back to the King as they walked casually to a meeting room.

"The number one thing is to see to it that our countries remain on the same page President Khalil. Not just via security but also economic and culturally. The interconnection between our people is truly astounding and as the AFS now expands across the Levant connecting the Persian Gulf to the Eastern Mediterranean, I believe that it is even more essential that Baghdad and Riyadh come to the same page and consensus for the sake of the Arab world. One of the things that I am proposing is the establishment of extensive natural gas and oil pipelines from the Persian Gulf and Eastern Arabia into the AFS and toward the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. As the Red Sea is becoming more volatile, there are certain risks that I must avoid if I can and in this case, I can avoid by providing a substantial and essential reroute of energy supplies from the dangers of the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait to the Eastern Mediterranean."

Presidnt Khalil: "I agree. Existing oil pipelines are made in the context of borders that no longer do or will exist. No single line can run from Riyadh or the Gulf, to Tartus or Turkey. I agree with your concerns regarding security in the Red Seas as well. A new Trans-Arabian network is in order. We see eye to eye on the matter, cooperation between Arab powers is as important as ever. Our Oil Ministries must be in tight cooperation. Perhaps such a network could extend as far as Turkey, delivering new energy options to Europe.

I believe that in the same realm of cooperation, are our shared security interests. Military cooperation on the red sea and in the Peninsula itself is important as both of our countries rapidly expand their capability."

I believe that through intelligence cooperation and joint counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations, we can properly ensure prosperity and economic growth unforeseen within the Middle Eastern region. More importantly, I think that it is a priority that we heavily invest in transportation infrastructure between our two countries. I do expect to see you and your people commit the Hajj pilgrimage haha. Regarding military cooperation, I believe that it is essential that we expand collectively our efforts into R&D projects and procurement policies that better align force structure and strategic posturing against adversaries both foreign and domestic that seek the full destruction of both our countries."

The open borders provided for in the Persian Gulf Pact are a great step, but more can always be done. Perhaps new or modernized international highways? And on the topic of defense, missile technology comes to mind. Ballistic missiles as a form of deterrence and defense are at the forefront of the National Defense Council and my priorities right now. Perhaps our research divisions could collaborate? We wish to develop or reproduce our own medium-range ballistic missile soon."

Khalil would chuckle slightly.

President Khalil: "The Anti-Lebanon Mountains make for an excellent test range."

"As Saudi Arabia produces and designs our own ballistic missiles from tactical and small range to medium and intermediate, this absolutely possible and shall happen. I will motion of Prince Nasser al-Khalifa al-Saud to coordinate with your research division to make this happen. We can test in the Anti-Lebanon Mountains and test ballistic missile trajectory from the Peninsula into the Indian Ocean if need be. We can further expand research projects from ballistics to SAM systems and early warning systems as well as small arms and smart munitions. This is essential if we are to remain at the front of military technology and development in the region; demonstrating Arab ingenuity and prosperity collectively through cooperation and mutual trust. If you are seeking medium-range then you are looking for something that can go between 1,000-3,000 km, which is a pretty good region to be able to provide strategic and tactical deterrence."

King Talal al-Saud:

"Naval cooperation is a necessity not just for military interests and intrigues but also the protection of vital supply chains and trade routes in the Persian Gulf, Arabian Sea, and the Red Sea. We can collaborate on joint maritime patrols and joint production of patrol boats for both the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. I am willing to provide the AFS with access to Saudi naval ports in the Red Sea to assist in these endeavors. I believe it is essential. With your 4 strategic ports in Syria, smaller capabilities in the Red Sea, and your access to the Persian Gulf, I think this new found ability and position of the AFS is a force multiplier to the current 59 ship Saudi Navy. I do have continual plans to further development of our naval capabilities; however, currently, Saudi Arabia has an Air Force of 1,113 aircraft and approximately 450 ballistic missiles. Nonetheless, you can count on Riyadh as a stable and reliable economic and security partner."

| On 12th of June, in the midday of the heat, the Iranian jet carrying Empress Esfir Diba landed in Istanbul, Turkey. The jet doors opened slowly and from the jet emerged the elder Empress. Wearing a dark purple dress with a white scarf beautifully woven around it, her hair beautifully made up with golden thorns coming out of it in the back, she would smile slightly as she waved and nodded at the press and people gathered as she made her way forward to whoever was to meet her. For the Empress, this meeting was an opportunity to start a new chapter in the Iranian-Turkish relations, one that would benefit both countries and the rest of the Middle East. |
