Region: Iron Front

Guys, I have written up a constitution for us. What do you think about it? I posted it on my dispatches page, but I can't pin it on the regional page. Aureumterra or Iron front founder, please pin it. Here's the link:

Proposed Constitution of the Iron Front

Mission Statement

We, the Iron Front, hereby devote ourselves to the ideas of democracy and anti-totalitarianism. Every person has a right to hold their opinions and to express them through the democratic process and in open, civil debate. The totalitarians, who seek to silence all those who disagree with them, are a cancer on society and we condemn them.

The Iron Front defends both the right to participate in government, and freedom from the intolerance that totalitarianism brings. We welcome all those who support democracy and oppose totalitarianism, without regard to their other political leanings.

Article I: Membership

For the purposes of this constitution, a person will be considered a citizen of the Iron Front if they:
- have their main or sole account as a member the Iron Front;
- have been a member of the region continuously for at least 3 days (72 hours); and
- hold political values that are not in conflict with the Mission Statement.

People who are members of the Iron Front, but who do not meet the requirements for citizenship, are entitled to take part in debates, but cannot be guaranteed the full rights of citizenship.

The Iron Front Founder account does not hold citizenship, as it isn't a main account, but whoever controls the founder account does hold citizenship if they qualify for it with their main account.

Article II: Presidency

The head of the regional government is the President.

Every person who holds citizenship in the Iron Front has the right to run for president and to vote in presidential elections. The president will have a term of office lasting 3 months. Elections will take place by open (non-secret) ballot, with voting taking place in a location agreed on in advance by the members of the region. Voting will be open for 3 days (72 hours). Voting will begin at a time agreed on in advance by the members of the region, but not later than 3 days (72 hours) before the swearing-in of the president.

Presidents will be sworn in at 12:00 noon UTC on the following dates:
- 1 January
- 1 April
- 1 July
- 1 October

On the regional Administration page, the president will hold power over Appearance, Border Control, Communications, Embassies, and Polls. The president will be the leader of the region, serving as its main spokesperson and representative.

Article III: Officers Besides President

Section I: The Founder

Executive power on the Administration page will be reserved for the Iron Front Founder account. Any decision (made by the president or by any other citizen of the region) which requires the use of Executive power may only be carried out by the Iron Front Founder.

Section II: The World Assembly Delegate

The region's World Assembly Delegate, or just Delegate, will hold World Assembly powers on the regional Administration page. It is the sitewide rules of NationStates that determine who becomes delegate, so elections for that Office is beyond the scope of this constitution.

Section III: Other Officers

The president has the power to appoint or dismiss other Officers on the Administration page. Other Officers may be given any combination of the Administration page powers that the president holds. These other Officers are not subject to being approved or rejected by the Council, but serve at the pleasure of the president.

Article IV: Council

The legislature of the regional government is the Iron Front Council, or just Council.

Every person who holds citizenship in the Iron Front is a member of the Iron Front Council and has the right to vote on it. The president, WA Delegate, and other Officers are members with full voting rights, and do not vacate their seats on the Council when taking office.

Since only individuals, and not groups, can be given powers on the Administration page, the Council cannot officially be vested with any formal powers. However, as power is derived from the consent of the governed, the Council has wide unofficial powers. It oversees the president and other Officers, and serves as a check on their powers. If the Council makes a decision, the president and other Officers must (to the best of their abilities) enforce this decision.

Article V: Amending This Constitution

If there is any disagreement on how to interpret this constitution, the citizens of the Iron Front have the collective power to interpret this constitution and to make new laws accordingly.

This constitution can be amended. For a proposed amendment to take effect, it must either:
- be approved by a simple majority on the Iron Front Council and get signed by the President; or
- be approved by a two-thirds supermajority on the Iron Front Council, with the President having no say.
