Das Sberrj Rundschreiben

Rarely does an event warrant an entire newspaper getting created based on it, but that is what's happening in southern Stelin.

Recently, Hans Sberrj- heir to the Karanician throne and by extension the throne of Germania- and Sunna Sberrj- wife of Hans Sberrj and heir to the Bonple throne have become much more politically active in Germania. After Karanic collapsed and Kapfenland made moves to annex Karanic, the two fled to Bonple and set up a government in exile, where they received backing by House Sberrj to one day reclaim Han's birthright. Hopes were once again crushed when foreign powers decided to jointly-occupy Karanic, and again when it was annexed into the Hagenstedter government. Hopes were high when the Valirrian government took control, and soon Hans and Sunna entered into talks with Archduchess Finé and the Valirrian government as a whole.

Initially concerned about what foreign powers might do in response, House Sberrj went to the drawing board to devise what Queen Jajka called the "Saviors of Stelin Contingency Plan", but is officially known simply as the Sberrj Contingency Plan. The plan covers everything and anything that can go wrong in Sberrj nations- from economic sanctions to all-out war with a global power, the plan covers it all.

And so, at 4:22 AM UTC+2, a time of historic significance as it was the exact time Anthacia left Germania all those years ago, Hans and Sunna were once again crowned Kaiser and Kaiserin of the new Germania-barsca, a nation comprising all of Germania.

After the coronation, Hans and Sunna held a press conference with select members of the press. When asked what they would do if any nation threatened military action to restore the old order (whether it be the old Valirrian administration, the Hagenstedter administration, the Kapfen administration) or restore independence to any Germanian nation, Hans said that force would be met with even greater force- "Two bullets for every one the enemy fires, two soldiers for every one the enemy has". This prompted another reporter to ask what would happen if any of the nations that once occupied Karanic and approved the Hagenstedter and Valirrian administrations- Anthacia, Sozkana, and Zambet Fata- threaten to forcefully remove Hans and Sunna from power. Sunna had this to say;

"It's part of the contingency. Sberrj is no force to be laughed at- we've got the Bonple military, the one that nearly conquered all of Stelin, leading not only itself but the Valirrian, Glorianayian, and now the Germanian militaries in the event of foreign invasion." This all but confirms the joint-command of Sberrj nation's military is led by Bonple. Hans also added to his wife's comment, pointing to the old House Schauer crown- now the crown of all Germania that was newly refurbished with Han's and Sunna's colors and now is on the flag of Germania-barsca- and said "If they want it, they have to come and take it. We're not going anywhere."

This prompted supporters of Hans and Sunna to adopt a new flag with the crown and the words "WIR GEHEN NIRGENDWO HIN" (WE'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE) emblazoned on it, along with Germania-Barsca's flag.

"We Fought and We Defied a Great Superiority"
"Walczyliśmy i Przeciwstawiliśmy się Wielka Wyższość"
"Wir Haben Gekämpft und Wir uns Einer Großen Überlegenheit Widersetzt"

Aside from the Anthacian Armed Forces moving in to secure all Anthacian equipment and technology that had been given to Kapfenland and Karanic under the Kappos Program, King Edward IV has announced that Anthacia will take no action against Bonple.

In the meantime, the government has as of late been investing more into Conmerica as usual, however as of late, shipments have also been going towards an unlikely contender; Grand Ossta. After Anthacia had exited the war in the Ulan Sea, military officials assured all remaining participants in the war that Anthacia had not lessened its stance on the rogue nation, and would be supporting remaining participants in any way it could. Chief among these nations of interest is Grand Ossta. Anthacia has been producing special equipment to be used by the Osstans en masse to bolster its outdated army against the more advanced Ulutorian enemy. Large chains of convoys have are making their way to Ossta to begin delivering the equipment, which has been in development for some time and has only recently achieved mass production.

The Anthacian government has not commented on the election of Premier Secretary Valeryev in Sozkana.

The Champalan Champion
After the ethical (but not Illegal) disgrace that was the Todd Presidency, many had feared that the Azaltanian Right Wing rallying around former President and once-again NUP candidate Stanton Kor would lead to an increase in Maximist and Social Revolutionary Activity, since Kor had a reputation from his first Presidency for being quite the Right-Wing Autocrat and cracking down on the more "unsavory" aspects of political and social society. Kor did two things immediately: one, he once again extended an absence of People's Union representatives from the Executive Chair, again defeating Ruther Wentz. Wentz would later go one to suffer another blow with the death of her Grandfather Wutherford and leave the Political Scene for an unspecified amount of time. His second record is being the second President to be elected to non-consecutive terms, albeit the amount of time between his terms is a new record.

However, age has mellowed Kor, and he's nowhere near the Right-Wing firebrand he once was. Fancy Words and Speeches have been replaced with political muscle and cooperation with the Maximist Party to get a handle on some of the more... hidden problems within Azaltan, namely the large amount of lag between Azaltan and the rest of the world. As such, via executive order three new plans have been put in place by the good Pres.

The Foreign New Initiative, or FNI, is to actively encourage Azaltanian Broadcasters and Papers to do more reporting on news happening outside of the nation; with the belief that past presidents took Azaltan's Isolationist Policies to an unnecessary level (this is believed to be a slight scorn of Tenrik Koth). This is to also offer encouragement of Azaltanian Citizens to seek out the world.

The Local Export Initiative, or LEI, is a program designed to set lower caps and cut down on the amount of Fishing and the Jobs associated with it. This has been met with heavy criticism from both the Left and Right Wing Communities, since Fishing and it's various exports support much of the Azaltanian Economy. This program is to encourage the process of diversifying the Azltanian Economy, citing that in the future overfishing may become a large problem as boats have to venture farther and farther out to sea. Despite past incursions, this act promotes incursions into the wilderness in attempts to fine... well, anything that could be used to diversify to the Market... though it has been said that Azaltan won't be selling Zeppelin Trees anytime soon.

Lastly, Kor has put forth the Naval Downsizing Plan. Theoretically, by Azaltanian Law, the Azaltanian President is the highest ranking Commander in the Armed Forces, though the President hasn't exercised this power in a long time. Kor however, has decided to flex this muscle by directly ordering the downsizing of the Navy, which is the mostly highly funded branch in the Military, absolutely dwarfing every other branch combined. This plan, naturally, has drawn the ire and outright anger of the Azaltanian Navy; and many fear that it may border on Insubordination if the Navy can manage to use it's weight against the President. At the moment it's just a battle of political force and wits....

Palanchian National News
Hell Unleashed

Last week, the city of Eretun was captured by Nationalist forces. The city hosts the military base Fort Palalya, where a few high-ranking officers within the Toraist military were stationed. Nationalist forces managed to rout the Toraist forces stationed within the town, leaving the fort minimally defended and abandoning the officers inside. The base was swiftly taken by Nationalist forces, who managed to capture every officer within the base, one of whom was a Major-General. Nationalist forces were immediately ordered to round them up and bring them onto the courtyard of the base, where they were chained to a nearby railing.

Afterwards, the army was sent into the town to round up any remaining Toraist forces within the town and taking anyone sheltering them back to Fort Palalya to be chained up with the Toraist officers. Soon after restraining them, the Nationalists immediately evacuated off the grounds, and made their way to a safe distance away from the base. Soon after arriving, a camera crew was Nationalist forces fired a few canisters into the base, they burst open on impact and let out a thick, blue gas that soon covered the base. Another canister was fired towards the base, this one letting out an unknown type of gas.

Moments later, the gas ignited, creating a massive explosion of fire that moved swiftly throughout the land, the heat being felt by Nationalist forces miles away, and charring part of Eretun. Once the smoke cleared, many could be seen walking away from the city, their charred skin slowly melting off, some falling apart limb-by-limb. Most buildings were up in flames, the fire was spreading quickly throughout the city. Yet Fort Palalya was still standing, albeit badly damaged with much of the stone being heavily charred.

Soon after the news broke, President Erik Bluscha appeared on a nation-wide broadcast. He gave a speech, threatening the PTR, saying that if they don't surrender, the weapon will be used all across Palanche, and would eventually be used on Stonewelt to burn Premier Jumir and his supporters. Premier Jumir soon responded, stating that the Palanchian People would never surrender to such a disgusting cause, and proceeded to criticize him for the massive civilian casualties the PNF inflicted upon Eretun. PNN host Lawrence Tierra commented on the massacre at Eretun, saying: "This is truly a dark time in Palanchian history, for us to be using WMDs on our people."

The Daily Worker

Premier Secretary Avtukhov Valeryev made the first of his much anticipated statements on his foreign policy. He announced the theories in his book The Modern Problem would form the basis of his foreign policy.

To begin, Premier Secretary Valeryev made clear who the enemy of Toraism is. "Unlike what many of you think" he said, "The International Union are no enemies to the international Toraist movement. But will we bend the knee and kiss their rings? Absolutely not. Instead, our enemy is clear; the Ulutorian imperialists in the east threaten the global revolution. This cannot stand; they've funded anti-Toraist groups far and wide, ethnics be damned! They've got the better of our military power; my comrades, this is unacceptable!"

To this end, he offered support to every single Toraist rebel group currently engaged in combat. Sarvanian- Palanchian- where ever they are, Sozkana will provide whatever they need to win. Guns, ammo, medical supplies, and even troops if need be. "There's no limit" Valeryev said, "Our workers will work overtime to make supplies if it means liberating other workers in some faraway nation". Sozkana's industrial unions- the ones that represent those factory workers, made up of factory workers, and elected by factory workers, agreed with his sentiment.

Secondly, Valeryev announced his intention to modernize and jump start arms production, and kick start the Sozkanan military. "We're losing our edge" he said, "That absolutely cannot happen."

He concluded his speech with a single phrase; "И вновь продолжается бой" - "The battle is going again".

It was on loan

The Sarvanian Independent: Cutting Through Propaganda One Article At A Time

With the onslaught of propaganda from the royalist and toraist sides, many at home and abroad are finding a hard time getting neutral, unbias information about the war. So we, a small group of journalists, have established this newspaper to help.

The Battle of Donjce turned to the toraists after months of fighting. The costliest battle of the conflict so far saw the royalists take a major blow when Zrinko III, the leader of the royalist forces, was killed by a sniper when trying to escape a firefight. Antali VIII, Zrinko III's brother, has taken up the task of commanding the royalist forces, but Zrinko III's death is a huge blow to the royalist forces both in terms of moral and strategically.

While those in Zaggrad wept at the news of Zrinko III, Toraists rejoiced. Zrinko III gained a brutal reputation among the Toraist forces, earning the nickname "The Butcher of Donjce". Whether Zrinko III was as brutal as they say or if this is just another piece of propaganda we don't know.

Toraists also made more good news come their way, as new equipment and reinforcements have come from Sozkana, greatly aiding in their fight. Although they lost precious soldiers in Donjce to either death, disease, or capturement by royalist forces, Davor Bojević, the Toraist military's leader, seems emboldened now and launched a massive offensive spearheaded by tanks and armored fighting vehicles, aimed directly at Zaggrad. Time will tell if this will succeed.

The Sarvanian Independent: Cutting Through Propaganda One Article At A Time

In what has got to be one of the quickest breakthroughs in military history, the toraists have utterly destroyed the royalist forces in just four days.

The commander of the toraist forces, Davor Bojević, said this was accomplished using "Piorun Wojna", a tactic Bonple pioneered in the Second Great Germanian War. In an interview with Struggle, the toraist newspaper, Bojević explained "This is modern war! Modern war does not wait for analysts and computer simulations, we do not wait for range calculations and bomb path trajectory, we attack! We hit hard, we hit fast, we give them no chance to recover! That is modern war!"

The offensive began on May 21, and by May 22 Toraist troops were shooting rockets into Zaggrad. And on May 23, King Antali VII's birthday, a hail of rockets and soldiers flooded into Zaggrad. In intense urban combat, the toraist forces triumphed, raising the toraist flag over the royal palace.

King Antali VII, along with Antali VIII, decided to stay in the city rather than flee. Both were killed in the fighting, which leaves House Bakal, the ruling house of Sarvania's bloodline gone.

With the royal bloodline gone and Toraists in control of the capital, Queen Kvetka Bakal, the late King Antali VII's wife, ordered the government/royalist forces to lay down their arms, effectively ordering a surrender.

And on May 23, what was left of the royalist government surrendered to the League of Toraists of Sarvania.

Soon after, the first parliamentary election occurred in which the LTS won with over 90 percent of the vote, but it's worth noting that the opposition parties refused to participate.

Although small pockets of rebels still remain across the nation, the toraists have effectively won.

And so, with a new flag over Sarvania and the war over, the Sarvanian Independent will cease operations.

The Champalan Champion

As of this issue of the fair Champion, the Azaltanian Navy has officially gone... on strike, we guess one could call it. This comes after a series of events that appear to be from a really badly written film. Since so much has happened since the last issue, the Champion has taken it upon itself to provide readers with a small timeline of events.

1. Stanton Kor, democratically elected President from the NUP; announces a series of reforms aimed at enlightening the public and diversifying the economy into something less reliant on fishing. In doing so, the President cut funding to and decided to downsize the Navy.
2. The Naval High Command protested this action, citing that the Azaltanian Navy was the only arm of the Military with sufficient enough funding to exist and providing evidence of such as the small and kind of defanged National Army, which had been downsized so much over the past few years it's more of a incredibly militarized police force with a lot of heavy weaponry. Naval Command was issued a direct order via President Kor to, and quote "Stop being greedy," and told to stand themselves down.
3. The Navy refused to budge itself, stating that the Navy would not follow "unlawful orders" since the Naval Downsizing Bill had not been officially passed, despite incredible support from the members of the Legislature. This however, was countered by the fact that despite the downsizing not being official, the President is still Sovereign Commander.
4. Early in the morning on another day of silent words between both sides, the Azaltanian Naval Vessels officially in port raised their anchor and proceeded to anchor themselves out in the inland sea, blocking access to the larger inlet and ocean going waters via blocking the strait. A ocean going could look out over the water and see a few metal islands out among the natural islands.

The ships have gone radio silent, but no further moves have been made. On behalf of either side. Who knows how long this standoff could last? However we have been told that Police Units are one their way to Naval Command along with some career bureaucrats in an attempt to end this "strike"... or "rebellion" in anyway they can.

Premier Secretary Avtukhov Valeryev made the first of his much-anticipated statements on his foreign policy. He announced the theories in his book The Modern Problem would form the basis of his foreign policy.

He concluded his speech with a single phrase; "И вновь продолжается бой" - "The battle is going again".

UBN

Upon hearing of the speech by Premier of Sozkana, Empress Anashara immediately called for an announcement to be made in Constantine Sqaure in front of the Imperial Palace in a days times. Upon 1000 hours the next day, the Square was filled to the brim with spectators, each buzzing with anticipation. Then, Empress Anashara came out and spoke to the people of Ulutor.

"125 years ago General Constantine and Admiral Rose saved Ulutor. For 125 years ago, Ulutor was saved from having the Red Menace as a neighbor. Constantine and Rose defeated the Socialist Republic of Regital and prevented what would not only have been the death of Ulutorian potential but the death of everything we hold dear. The day of reckoning came.

For 120 years, Ulutor has born witness to the Red scourge as it spread around the world, it bore its teeth into every nation too weak to resist, or too ignorant to fight. Toraism continues its never-ending quest to fill the world with its blood-red blight. It continues to stain every nation it touches, making its people weak and foolhardy. The Internationa Union has turned a blind eye now to this great enemy of all peoples. It considers itself in a state of detente. But my people, we know the truth, there is no resting with these Crimson plague. While the Union has and will settle for peace treaties to simply limit the power of Toraist nations, we know full well that there will be a final struggle. And when that time comes, when the Menace tosses his mask, when the purple coward runs, when the oceans run red with the blood of those killed under the blight's regime, we will be ready. We stand at the gates of Hell, constantly watching, preparing for the struggle. For whether alone or with others we will continue onwards to the final victory. The day of reckoning comes.

Throughout the ages, this long freeze has taken many forms. Propaganda, espionage, proxy, and at times blood. We have seen that blood. For so long Ulutor held its head from the World Wars, never truly ready to leap into the dogfight. But recently we have learned much. We, as a nation, stood and fought the world. The fire and spirit of Ulutor was tested in the forge of war. They wanted us broken up, they wanted us torn asunder. They wanted Ulutor made into a plethora of bickering republics, flying red and purple flags. Nations that would then bow to the whims of the Reds or the Purple. But here we are. The Homeland unstained by purple or Red, our colonies have proved resilient, and we have lost but a few years. And even then, while our Seas will lie undefended, we make strides in the Air, our Jets jumping forward leaps and bounds to caress the skies as angels of death, swift and unmerciful in their judgement. The day of reckoning comes.

For a few years, we have been defanged. Our navy shielded us from the Purple navy. Keeping the blood count even and the fighting away from the home of the Iris. But now my people, we must prepare. The Red world has felt our fist, they have seen their own blood on their lips, they have seen the shadows of death. Make no mistake, Anthacia lies across the Ulan Sea waiting, but our War is now with the Crimson flags of the International. The next monuments we build will be to our north, not our west. Come the day, the navy shall emerge from the dry docks stronger than ever, Annihilators, the many of them, at the ready. The day of reckoning comes.

Shall we cower? Shall we run? We have nowhere to go! Our only option is to stand and fight. As we have prepared for! As you have trained for! As we have been built for! The Strength of the Empire lies on you, my people! Our victory will rely on you. As every victory, we have had has. The day of reckoning comes my people. And when it arrives, we will be ready. DITRA LUNI AL IMPERIUM!"

Aoraki News

Following an extremely provocative and insulting statement by the ruler of Ulutor, a wave of outrage has washed over the Anthacian populace. Not having lost very much in the War of the Archipelago, the Anthacian people and military are still geared up for a fight. Some more hawkish members of the Imperial Party have been calling for a renewed war with Ulutor. It appears as though the military is also on the side of the warhawks. Met with a relatively dismal military display in the beginning stages of the war, dogged by uncoordinated planning and other geopolitical distractions, all four branches of the military are looking to redeem themselves in the eyes of the international community as well as the Anthacian people.

Enraged that an illegitimate line of rulers would insult not only Anthacia, but the International Union, it appears as though the Ulutorians have, by attempting to rally its own people, have begun rallying the home front of the very nation half of its speech was about. With Conmerica and Calcaterra still in the war, the government has begun seriously considering stepping up its military aid from just supply and volunteers.

For now, more moderate members of the government have been able to stem an official draft for war, it appears that any more mishaps on the part of the Ulutorian government could tip Anthacia into re-entering the war with all of its might. Following rumors that even the King has voiced support for the war, it appears as though only a radical shift in Ulutorian policy, or an abrupt end to the war could avoid Anthacian entry. A statement as been issued to Ulutor demanding an apology as well as an immediate advanced payment of all Ulas owed to Anthacia in the treaty.

INTERNATIONAL W/MATT STONEWALL

We go now to a speech by newly elected President Elizabeth Henderson Davis, addressing the recent actions taken by Ulutor.

"Friends, fellow-citizens of Calcaterra, and all of those viewing around the world, good evening. In recent days, we have witnessed a level of pure aggressiveness from the Ulutorian government not seen in years. The Ulutorian Crown has preached hatred and violence on a wide scale, using historical differences as a justification for their gross misdeeds and illogical actions. They have acted without restraint and with unadulterated villainy in mind.

I want to make it clear before I continue, this is anything but a response to the filth they spawn. I'm not here to spew propaganda, that is an Ulutorian method of communication. I'm here to inform those on the international stage that all who oppose this Ulutorian aggression will have our support. We will not reward their actions with our neutrality, but instead, greet it with a challenge. We will challenge your use of hatred and your disdain for peace, we will challenge your warmongering, with the dream of a globe united for the idea of peace, a world that works with an understanding that all mankind is created with equal rights, with a common bond. You may try to tear us apart, but we will work to ensure that your rhetoric will not become a universal truth.

To the Empress, I will say this directly; you will not be tolerated. Your predecessors rattled their sabers relentlessly, and they were greeted with little success and even less glory. Use the tale of William I as an idea of where this path leads. A good cautionary tale could help you, I'm sure. Study history to understand where the Ulutorian wars have ended. I assure you, it will pay off.

And to my citizens. I know that war is not preferable. But inaction is intolerable. Thank you."

One director, Serghei Sandulescu, known for films that focus on underlooked events in history, wanted to create a film that focused on the Fragor era (1397 - 1478) that didn't focus on Traja and his many wars. Instead, he wanted to tell an often overlooked story from that era, the story of Vozhad Freliks, and his People's Kingdom of the Red Rose that, if he had succeeded in his goal, could have radically changed not just Zambet Fata's history, but the history of the world, in a film simply called "Red Rose"

The film recounts the life of Vozhad Freliks, from his early days as a peasant farmer to the ruler of one of the largest kingdoms seen after the fall the Trivalen Empire, to his untimely death. It mainly focused on the positives of Vozhad Freliks, his Red Rosism ideology; freeing the serfs, religious freedom, anti-mercantilism, limited democracy for all, eroding the power of the nobility, strengthening of a "central" government, and anti-sacking and anti-massacring policies in war. Basically, anti-privilege and pro-peasant, a truly radical concept for the 1400s.

But radical only describes part of what the film touches on; its massive and authentic battle scenes used to show Freliks's military and tactical genius which led to his "People's Kingdom of the Red Rose" stretching from the coastline to Bonple were praised by critics and historians alike. The subplot of a soldier in Freliks's Black Rose Guard, a sort of "medieval special forces", was received positive feedback.

But if you've watched Sandulescu's previous films, you know he hates the Mary Sue, and Red Rose is no exception. Freliks's distrust and "expert" manipulation of his Komkors- "Princes without Privilege, or Baron's without the entitlement" as one character in the film put it- and his less than stellar social life, are shown in gritty detail throughout the film. His seemingly endless wars, while shown with victory and splendor in Frelik's and his court's eyes, is shown in one scene through the eyes of a small village, which lost all of its male populace in a battle; when the messager delivers the news to the village, we, the audience, can hear the cries of mothers and lovers alike, giving a powerful statement on the duality of war.

Towards the end of the film, we see Freliks, now much older, bruised and battered after a battle. When he begins coughing up blood, his son takes over the campaign as he is sent back to his People's Kingdom's "capital". We are shown a weak and bedridden Freliks, now with pneumonia, on the last days of his life. We see Freliks talking between coughs about philosophy with his wife, Asea, about how he wants her to continue what he has started with the help of their son. She nods her head silently, as the Freliks closes his eyes, marking the end to his life, and thus, the film.

A cliffhanger to be sure; Sandulescu has already said a sequel is planned.

Red Rose broke box office figures, in its first weekend Red Rose jumped to the top of the charts, and quickly grossed more money than any other film in Zambet Fatan history on opening weekend, although not in world history. However, it is still in theatres and is on the fast track to becoming the highest-grossing film of all time at its current rate.

The Zambet Fatan Historical Society has also decided to publish its findings on "Red Rosim", which will be made public shortly.

No word yet if it is going to air in other nations.

Grand Ossta rarely allows foreign films in our theaters, but we will allow this one.

Regional Election Season Has Begun

Nominations are now open for Defense Adviser and Economic Adviser, and will remain open for the next 48 hours.

To submit a nominee, simply respond to this post with your choice.

If no nominations are submitted, no election for that Adviser will take place.

Don't nominate someone who is already an adviser, they'll already be on the ballot.

You can only cure other nation's population, you can't cure your own. You can use military force to exterminate the zombies in your nation.

This whole "zombie apocalypse" is just for funsies and doesn't have any lasting impact on your nation.

Just to add:

Your best bet is to team up with other nations to help cure a nation one by one. Myself, Nedporen, and Sinderland are teaming up, I'd recommend joining the Discord if you want to help out, it'll make communication easier. We'll start firing the cure missile tomorrow, but for now, let the cure research progress. The more the cure is researched, the more effective your missiles will be.
