Hi there!

Addicted to NationStates? Then swing by with an anonymous puppet!

Maybe share why you think you are? How do you cope with it?

Or tell us why you think you do NOT suffer a gaming disorder despite having 300 nations in which you log in daily every 3min 30h a day!

Is it worth it? Is this game really that good? A part of me thinks it is, probably not a healthy part.

Don't expect professional help. Don't expect any help! Which you probably anyway don't seek.

But....

You are not alone.

and to acknowledge to oneself that there might be an issue doesn't harm, right?

Okay, I'm swinging by with a new puppet. We'll see how this new Region does!

Thanks for your interest, Unindicted coconspirator And Welcome. Any comments or stories, just lodge a message.

The best situation would be that Nationstates has such a healthy community, that there are simply no 'ultra hardcore fans' around which could be attracted to post in this region.

However, I think the probability that a couple of players (especially in the raider, defender, intelligence, and region collector business) play this game 'too hard' is likely. NS is similar to those mmorpg games (or does it even count as one?)

But then again, that potential clients simply won't show up and are rather turned off by this topic/WFE, is more than very likely.

Anyway, all are welcome and it's already awesome that this game allows the creation of such an anonymous in-game plateform.

So, let's see! There might be a certain potential that one or two more messages are lodged before the region ceases.

Cheers also to Farisian and Reeteet who were swinging by so fast, they did not even scratch the RMB.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the issues I don't want to change, courage to change the ones I can, and wisdom to write new ones for nationstates.

Well said.

Thanks!

Eats a plate of cookies before he realizes that he could have shared a few with guests and especially his mysterious region mate Unindicted coconspirator. Gives them some regional powers instead.

Vasalos wrote:Thanks for the embassy, I have 26 puppets they're all in storage. They're in the process now of going CTE, or maybe not. As I put the setting on vacation mode and have over 50 days to think about it. By the way you have a great concept for a region. So now I'm off to the bar on every corner to have a cold one and think about if I'm a nationstates aholic.

I assume the number of nations alone doesn't qualify you automatically to have a gaming disorder. Also having just one or two nations doesn't disqualify you for it. It's rather how you play and cope with it.

Anyway, thanks for your contribution to our RMB, and let us know the outcome of your reflections, if you want so. The bar on the corner has at least clearly one or two NationStatesAlcoholics.

BTW, I follow this vacation mode strategy for several month already. Most of my puppets have survived thus far.

Hello everybody especially the founder Molch

I'm not addicted at least not yet hahaha

Great uralia and Unindicted coconspirator

I... I have a problem :(

Great uralia and Vasalos

I check NationStates over 10-20 (and sometimes even more) times a day.

Do I have an issue?

First, thanks for the help with embassies my still mysterious but regional officer Unindicted coconspirator. If you feel like requesting again, young and fresh nations are a good option.

Hi, on this side too. Please keep us updated regarding harmful developments in your mental health : )

If mental health is the right term in this matter? Is it? Anyway you are welcome in your healthy version, too.

Maybe you guys can share that cookie first. And then, in a few month, in case your nations are still around, I gonna make the part in the WFE which says 'Don't expect any help!' a bit bigger.

No seriously, I hope you guys are mainly joking and your actually are fine. Anyway, feel free to write a bit more.

Do I have an issue?

Vasalos wrote:That's a good question

For sure not every time, and if you are in vacation mode then I would almost exclude that you encounter any issue, any new one at least.

More serious, for me NationStates was sometimes similar to Facebook, (rather a mixture between facebook and a mmporg). You log in, and check what's new. But maybe you don't really do anything. Like a post here and there.

I assume, similar to the number of nations, the number of 'logins' alone doesn't tell much. It depends what you do when you log in.

How much time you spend and if you can really spare that time? Does it interfer with your real life, with things that you actually are supposed to do?Does it maybe distract you from something that would be good for you to do but you don't really want to do? Do you feel like you have to log in that often, that it is your responsibility (ie. as a region founder)? Did your pet bird starve because you forgot to feed him? Those are probably more relevant questions one should ask himself.

I expand on this instead. (Certain) new regions are often active, ambitious, and open to any new contacts without limiting embassy guidelines. This and more makes them a good option for simply requesting an embassy directly.

For established regions we should go a more formal way and approach them individually. While chances are usually still very low to get accepted.

In general, for a region such as ours, accessibility via many embassy regions is good/important. So we kind of can't avoid to be denigrated as 'embassy collectors'. But when people are not able to see beyond this term, I honestly don't care much.

Oh Great Founder, I recently made such a formal appeal to The Cuckoos Egg, but I believe that my effort was a dismal failure. I cannot understand the antipathy shown for the Regions labeled as "Embassy Collectors." It seems that even Regions of Raider Nations are afforded more respect than are the Embassy Collectors. Why would a focus on diplomacy, and networking with other nations, provoke such apparent hostility? Isn't that simply another aspect of the overall NS game?
