Don't worry about it, Ru! Everyone plucks an oopsie daisy once in a while, or a whole bouquet of them. Humans love their oopsie daisies, after all c:

I have a feeling this is Alberta you're talking about. Ontario isn't faring much better tho tbh, we've got 600 cases per day.
Yup. That sounds rough, but at least your provincial government is a bit more competent. And that's really saying something considering how much we like to make fun of Doug Ford.
As of this morning, all my classes just got moved online again, and I can't go anywhere because the website to get proof of vaccination is broken.

Hoping my school stays in person. Everyone just has to wear masks but of course like half the school doesn't wear their mask right. We have around 6 cases in our school so far hoping that number doesn't rise. I really don't want to go back to virtual.

It begins...
I've never thought about "oopsie daisy" as a noun instead of just an interjection, but it's absolutely adorable, thanks for that.
The actual voting process doesn't start for a while. Iirc we have to go through figuring out who's running, then campaigns, and then voting. (Older residents correct me if I'm wrong, bc I only sort of remember the process last time.)

That’s what all of my students are saying. At first (i.e. March 2020) everyone thought it would be like vacation, but by the end of the year, they hated it. And then alllllllll of last year, they hated it. And now this year, they’re all happy to be back in school finally.
My school has a very high vaccination rate, relatively speaking (something like 67% of the student body and over 90% of the adults), and we’re all wearing masks, so hopefully whatever cases we do have are from outside sources, and that there is no outbreak within the school.
So hopefully we’ll make it. If the cases would come down in the wider community and state, I’d feel more confident, but to me, we’re all the point where things could go off the we rails, potentially.

You are correct. This process is covered under Article 4 of the Constitution.
- The current poll runs for one week, and is the "sign up" poll. Those who vote "Yes" are indicating their desire to be on the ballot for Forest Keeper. Any resident may sign up.
- At the conclusion of this poll, an additional one week period will follow during which time candidates present their platforms, answer questions, and carry out their campaigns.
- At the end of the campaign week, a poll will be posted with all eligible candidates listed as options. All nations who were both present and in the WA at the time the sign-ups began (see the list Ruinenlust posted) can vote for the candidate they believe should win office. This poll will run for three days, and additional campaigning is prohibited.
The Constitution covers things like primaries and run-offs as well if they are needed for various reasons, such as no candidate achieving a majority, but the above summarizes a "standard" election procedure.
Take note - we are probably going to experience the N-Day event in the middle of campaign week. I expect Ruinenlust will have temporary N-Day officers in place to assist with regional guidance for that event. The event doesn't have any effect on our election process.

Pretty sure that the post announcing that voting has opened includes the list of eligible voters again, so everyone who can vote will get pinged once they can.

I really worry with the GA proposal currently at vote that a billionaire could have half their net worth stolen by way of identity theft and the government would be required to completely repay those losses instead of spending that money on ending homelessness or something.
Bananaistan, Alcantaria, Ruinenlust, Middle Barael, and 1 otherNation of ecologists
But shouldn't the government halve that anyways? If it doesn't I don't believe they would be willing to spend it on homelessness.
Ruinenlust, Terrabod, and Middle Barael
I’m more worried about the privacy of the “stolen data” being uploaded to a database itself lol.
"In cases where victims were affected financially by the relevant identity theft, the total sum of losses shall be repaid to the victim. Further compensation is permitted and encouraged." If the perpetrator is unable to repay the victim - by whatever means, including if the perpetrator escapes justice - then who else will foot the bill? It's quite clear that if a billionaire lost 500m to identity theft and the perpetrator couldn't indemnify the victim then the government would have to pay 500m to the victim to avoid noncompliance with this legislation. There is no limit to the amount that must be repaid, and no restrictions on who should have to pay.
Besides the point. That 500m could have been spent on fighting homelessness, or cancer research, or improving higher education or whatever the government decides it should be used for. Instead, that money must be paid to the billionaire victim out of the government's (read: the taxpayer's) pocket.
Eh, to each their own favourite flaw heh.
Bananaistan, Ruinenlust, Lord Dominator, Middle Barael, and 1 otherNation of ecologists
Agreed. It is a fatal flaw IMO. I pointed this out in drafting but, alas, people ignoring me appears to be fashionable atm.
Daarwyrth, Ruinenlust, Terrabod, Middle Barael, and 1 otherNation of ecologists
Perhaps we should follow up with a proposal to limit the amount that can be given to identify theft victims. $5 Million or 20% of the loss comes across as a good amount to me but that could. So everyone would get their first 5 million lost back. Then beyond that 20% would be given back up to $100 million. The actual numbers could be different but thats the general idea. This would be a similar concept as the FDIC in the United States.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
How can I get on the map?
Just let me know! Telegram me what you'd like. It can either be a picture (of any quality) or a text specification, or even just "Hey do whatever you want with me I just want on the map" (Can be either map, both maps, or let me decide)
Here's a general application:
Location:
Size and Shape:
Cities and Notable Features:
Nation Name: This is what you want your display name to be. Your actual NS name will still be in the Members List underneath the map (should I remember of course)
Location: Anywhere, anywhere on a specific map, rough approximation, or a picture that you've drawn yourself
Size and Shape: Anything, rough approximation, or a picture. Coastal changes are permitted.
Cities and Notable Features: Anything, general description (At the very least where your capital is) or picture. Refers to anything found on the legend, although other possibilities are discussable.
Can I change my nation once I'm on the map?
Absolutely you may! Just send me a request much like the above and I can adjust the location, borders, coasts, and terrain as you wish.
For flag changes, I update those automatically when I come out with a map update.
For statistical map changes, well, I don't do those terribly often so I'm afraid you'll have to sit tight for those, hehe.
When will the map update?
Good question! Depends on when I or another cartographer (if there is one) has time, really, although we're trying to create a "3-month" rule in that the map won't be updated or anything for three months in an effort to avoid burnout. (Personally I like to sneak updates in a bit more often than that, but that's the general rule of thumb.)
Could I become a cartographer?
You absolutely may! We're actually looking for more cartographers, and in fact a head cartographer to boot! (Their job would be implementing other cartographers' edits as well as recruiting new ones.)
However, before you do, I absolutely recommend answering the following (ideally both privately and in-telegram):
1) Do you know Inkscape? If not, are you willing to learn it like I did before becoming cartographer? (Or do you know another vector-editing program that can share files with inkscape without hassle?) If the answer to all of these is no, then I can help you through it until you're comfortable with being named cartographer.
2) Are you willing to keep up with everyone's demands? It's a lot of fun, but can be time-consuming and tedious, particularly if you're not familiar with inkscape. Technically updates only need happen every three months or so, to prevent burnout, but I personally can't wait that long ;)
3) Are you absolutely positive you'd have the time to do this? This happens with a lot of folks intrigued in becoming cartographer - they simply don't feel they have time to be one. That's not to say you need to be super active, however; the only one who really needs plenty of time on their hands is the Head Cartographer, since jr. cartographers have more time to edit and make alternative maps on their own time as they please.
If the answer to all of these questions (or a part of these questions) is "YES" then telegram myself, Kepler-0085, or another Forest shelf member about possibly joining our team!

Unfortunately, flawed WA legislation cannot be amended, it can only be repealed and replaced with a less flawed proposal. Also, remember that not all NS nations have currencies comparable to the American dollar or (want to) have a similar economic system to the United States - these sorts of things are important considerations when drafting a proposal you want to become WA legislation.

Wow, Jutsa, this is fantastic! I've updated the World Factbook Entry so that if you click on the "Regional Map" link, it now goes to our new version.
I'd like to express a great deal of thanks and appreciation to Jutsa for breaking our extremely long map drought! With them at the helm of cartography, we have finally gotten back one of most asked-for and celebrated features of our region. Excellent job! :-D
