Looks like somebody posted it to r/mapmaking about 3 years ago. Not sure who

So why exactly did this region died down? Mind if I learn the history of this?

There were a few compounding factors: to put it simply, we had long-lasting issues with toxicity, bigotry, and plagiarism. Ultimately, a lot of the membership (and the regional leadership!) became fatigued with the difficulty of responding to — and failing to respond to — those factors. While there were attempts to "reboot" the region without the influence of the aforementioned issues, there was not enough long-lasting interest to avoid the region's decline into inactivity.

Given that Aeia is not the only region with this kind of vibe, the membership simply dispersed to other communities with which Aeia had always had a considerable overlap. Feel free to join the Discord server to discuss it further — and, as Mid said, we might be able to point you in the direction of regions with similar concepts and membership!

The toxicity issues were compounded by a perceived lack of meaningful response from the moderation, though that was just one of a range of factors (and probably not one of the important ones, depending on who you ask. If you ask me I was the only good mod this place ever had, and that's a subjective fact 😎). I would also add that especially after the plagiarism stuff (as far as I can tell as I'd left before then) but even before, there were attempts at resets or at least major changes to certain parts of regional lore that really didn't go anywhere, whether due to lack of involvement from some people concerned or people disagreeing on what should be done, whatever. By the time the total reboot was on the cards a lot of people had left or become more invested in other regions. Some of those regions are even still alive haha sure am I glad mine didn't die out in a week hahaha

This was sad to hear. I for one, am happy to find this dormant region. It's a shame I can't do anything significant to revitalize it. I'm sorry...but I promise to try to permanently resettle Lovendara in AEIA.

I came here for better knowledge and understanding in worldbuilding. And I swear on behalf of all remaining Minstarrians, I'm staying here.

I just wrote my first ever news factbook earlier. It's only the start of my plan to create a story through the eyes of an entire nation. You guys have any good advice for me? I would be delighted to learn more from you

Lovendaran generals had been mobilizing armed forces to fortify the border on the banks of the river Efferia and its 3-town enclave on the opposite side following of increased military presence of the Belwarkian military in the region. A recent incident involving the blockade of a Lovendaran official's entourage and several refugee groups by the Belwark border patrol further increased the tensions to the highest point since the Danilusian Uprising. As of now, a standoff is ensuing between the two nation's military and the government is currently engaging in diplomatic solutions to defuse the situation.

Winding the clock about 2 decades ago, Chief General Bolar Priyatoli rose to power as Supreme Chancellor following a Right-wing faction staging a Coup against the provisionary government and installing a Military Dictatorship under the radicals soon afterwards. The next 10 years saw a return of Ylatanoran ideologies and influence over the country, transforming it once again as part of the Ylatanoran sphere of influence. Though doing so, Bolar ran the government into a neutral nation in politics, ruling with a fair hand which also draws a knife in its clutches. His regime lasted for 18 years until his passing in 2003.

The Ylatonoran ambassador in Belwark then advocated Yisha Flirentiel for rights of success as Supreme Chancellor. And unlike Bolar who favoured neutrality and internal stability over all, Yisha promised to completely integrate Belwark under Ylatanora's protection. This sparked public outcry as the majority of the people wanted a fully independent country, however Yisha had gained the trust of the regime's top members. The public was silenced just days after and Flirentiel claimed the title of Supreme Chancellor. The Lovendaran government next door however would not tolerate a leader such as Flirentiel, and then launched a failed invasion into Belwark, a ceasefire was declared in 2004 and both sides withdraw from the conflict. Lovendara however kept a small portion of land which was formerly Belwarkian territory. This has caused no problems until a shootout occured between Lovendaran and Belwarkian border guards just 6 months ago.

Which brings us today, with tensions still rising even more. The government and public must hope that diplomatic resolution must be the key in solving this crisis...

Wait, we still just got a fresh update for the situation right now:

UPDATE:
The Belwarkian government has boycotted all Lovendaran-manufactured goods that include most if not all of the following:

  • Copper

  • Aluminum

  • Steel

  • Iron

  • Zinc

  • Gold

  • Public and Private Aparatus

  • Digital Services

  • Jewelry

  • Machinery

  • Auto Parts

  • Wheat

  • Corn

  • Wine and Liquor

  • Livestock

Please stand by for further updates.

2005 seems unusually late to get in on the colonialism game

Post by Lovendara suppressed by Bam 26.

To provide some context, Neo-Earth is a parallel earth on some far away location from the solar system, it is much bigger than earth itself but however posseses the same amount of surface gravity and other planetary physics. It is commonly ravaged by storms and other weather anomalies that make exploration and charting of its surface virtually impossible. The first settlers arrive somewhere around 5,000 BCE when a gateway opened in the region of bermuda, which explains the "Bermuda Triangle" phenomenon. Other similar gateways opened in Marianas, Madagascar, and Antarctica followed up afterwards. And with the dawn of colonization in the 18th century, european powers sent expeditions to the other side of the gateways. The Neo-Earth side was pretty calm and habitable around them, which made the settling of the nearby continents of Xonairre and Isaard possible. Fast forward to the modern era, the surrounding permanent "Storm Lines" as I call it for now, starts to weaken which made passageways in some areas available to traverse.

That's how I can explain the lore of this world for now. Apologies for the bad description since I am still really, really practicing on writing proper info pages.

I'm no scientist but I suppose that explains it. So Lovendara is on the other planet, not Earth?

Yes, sorry I wasn't able to put it on your regional world map

Wish I had photoshop so I can finally visualize my nation. Its hard making solid facts on some criterias when you don't have a place to base them.

You could still use Paint.net, or GIMP which are both good free photoshop alternatives

Wait, what are your opinions on exceptionally beautiful mapmaking sites like Wonderdraft or Inkarnate?

depends how much you want to do yourself (and have creative control over). you'll make the best maps using something like GIMP if you know how to use its tools.
