The Isen Cynehelm in its display case in Cyninghamfæsten. It was forged in 888 A.D. at the order of Æþelwulf ii cyning (called "Mægen", "the Great"), after the loss of the original golden cynehelm of Eahland in the sack of Nearubæc and the unification of Eahland and Wyndham under his rule. It is made of interwoven bands of gold from the cynehelm of Wyndham and carbon steel from the blade of Æþelwulf Mægen's sword.

The seax, traditional Eahlisc knife, with its broad blade with wedge-shaped cross section, tapering from a thick spine to the straight or nearly-straight cutting edge. Above: standard Cynehere-issue seax with 13" blade, the traditional trilobate pommel, and sockets for mounting as a bayonet. Below: a common kitchen handseax, with 6.5" blade and a simple grip sandwiching the tang between wooden scales secured by brass rivets. The common Eahlisc practice of decorating practical objects is evident on both seax.
