On Ostrocathilisim
Ostrocathilisim is the National Religion of Palma Burkando. Originally brought in by Palmese settlers, Ostrocathilisim is the study of what the ancient gods that existed before time had left behind. It emphasizes the importance of sustaining the world around us and advancing off of what we already have.History
Ostrocathilisim first developed with the Palmese people, who had seen unusual natural formations and come to the conclusion that the land had once been filled with ancient peoples capable of shaping the planet to their whims. Because of extreme measures, such as forced teaching and killing of those who disagreed with their ideas, Ostrocathilisim survived to the age of exploration. After the Palmese were forced off their continent in the extinction war, the remaing Palmese people travelled across the world until they found the Burkandese and Rivertide peoples. While the Palmese had completely wiped out the Rivertide peoples, they found themselves enamoured with Burkandese culture, eventually merging Ostrocathilisim with the Burkandese peoples beliefs, forming modern day Ostrocathilisim.
Values
Ostrocathilisim rewards acts of preserving what was, what is and not meddling in what will be. As in most religions, Ostrocathilisim also rewards acts of goodwill, while punishing acts of evil. Creating technology that could harm the planet is considered blasphemy and is one of the worst acts someone could commit.
Afterlife
In the Afterlife, if one has abided by the laws of Ostrocathilisim, then they will be transported to live in the sky with the ancient gods, becoming one themselves. However if they had been blasphemous in life, then they become a star in the sky, forever trapped and unable to escape, they must watch the ancient gods prosper and eternally wish that they could join them.
Celebrations
On February 3rd, we celebrate "Sky Day", a celebration on the same day the ancient gods rose to the sky. The day is a time of feasting, gift giving, and most importantly, looking to the sky. Legend says if you look the sky long enough, you might see the gods waving to you!
On August 16th, we celebrate "Giving Day", to symbolize the ancient gods giving the gift of life to us! This day is a time of joy and gift giving, similar to Christmas. This day used to involve ritual sacrifices, luckily we don't do that anymore!
On September 26th, we celebrate "Grandathon", a day focused on walking. This celebration has nowadays slipped into obscurity, but is still practiced by devoted worshippers. Symbolizing the migration of our peoples early days, on this day people would try to walk for as long as possible in a single day. They were also challenged with ending their walk where they had started. It is unknown why this is, but some Theologists think it represents the circle of life.
On November 15th, we celebrate "Gaia", a day of caring for the earth. On this day, people tend to plant trees, water plants, refrain from hunting, etc. Whatever the case, this day is a day for nature.
