Sirenzian Society

Upper Class: The Aristocracy

Comprises 2% of the population.
Social groups consisting of a dozen or so Counts and their extended families with lesser titles. It encompasses the Grand Doge, currently Alessio di Fontana,'s household, the various Counts of Sirenze and their relatives, and the most influential merchant families in Sirenze.

Middle Class: The Merchants

Comprises 17% of the population. The merchant class consists of the merchants, bankers and officials who form the backbone of the Sirenzian export economy, along with slave owners who force prisoners of war to work in the fields of shipbuilding, farming or other menial jobs. They make up the majority of the urban population of Sirenze.

Lower Class: Workers
Comprises 81% of the population. The workers create materials needed for Sirenze to maintain its trade-oriented economy, whether that be growing sugarcane, producing exotic dyes and fabrics, or crafting mirrors. They also are the source from which Sirenze takes its recruits for the army. The workers build and maintain the state under the tight control of the aristocracy.
