List of Eras

List of Eras

The history of the planet Histarctica can be divided into a number of eras of different lengths and each with their own characteristics.

  • First Era
    Known as: Coming of Light
The First Era is not so much a specific period of time but more a nature-religious event that describes the creation of Light and the world around it.

  • Second Era
    Known as: Era of Life
The Second Era is characterized by the time before the Third Era and covers millions of years.

  • Third Era
Known as: Era of the Vamorians
There is some disagreement as to how long the Third Era lasted and whether the Third and Fourth should in fact be merged. The prevailing opinion among scholars is that the Third Era, called the Era of the Vamorians, lasted for about 20,000 years. The Vamorians are today thought of as a human-humanoid species whose rise and disappearance is still a mystery to this day. Their ancient civilizations are still being researched and discovered, and it is not yet fully known whether the Vamorians, in some cases referred to somewhat amusingly as the Old People, lived side by side with the lesser civilised Hisarians (Histarcticans) - or whether they were wiped out by them in the end.

  • Fourth Era
Known as: Era of the Hisarians
The Fourth Era lasted approximately 5000 years according to the best estimates and is known as the Era of the Hisarians (humans). A time when the Hisarian, today Histarctican, and hence the planet's name, gained solid ground on the entire globe in a jumble of civilizations and peoples that came and went.

  • Fifth Era
    Known as: The Consolidation Era
A period of around 2000 years, known as the Consolidation Era, saw several of the later great houses rise and consolidate their power and influence. Petty realms and city-states that did not originate from a noble house became fewer and fewer, and the great civilizations from the Fourth Era perish in this period where a new power class became the rulers of the world.

  • Sixth Era
Known as: Era of the Nobles
Lasted for around 500 years and is called the Era of the Nobles, but is also referred to as the Golden Age of the Great Houses. It was a time of relative peace and harmony, as well as great technological development within civil society but certainly also in the military. The Sixth Era is characterized by a feudalistic-technological advanced period with great prosperity among all layers of society.

  • Seventh Era
    Known as: The Warring Era
Lasted for about 300 years and although the era is known as the Warring Era, it was not 300 years of constant war but rather a time of many major and minor conflicts of varying duration between the different noble houses. The era is, however, a time filled with brutal and destructive warfare, and the annihilation of land and human life. Although the dream of total supremacy over the entire planet was a dream of many great houses, the conflicts were mainly about expansion, revenge, personal interests and so on.

  • Eighth Era
    Known as: The Imperial Era
Began about 200 years ago when High Lord Vanor Aertaris crowned himself Emperor of the Holy Empire of Histarctica, thus more commonly known as the Imperial Era. In some cases, the Eighth Era is also referred to as the Space Era. The period is characterized by a united planet, militarism and industrialization as well as a strong religious society.
