Sophia recommends a vote AGAINST Countering Agroterrorism

General Assembly: Countering Agroterrorism (International Security; Strong), by Barfleur

Recommendation: AGAINST

Rationale: While plenty of issues have been pointed out with the wording of this resolution, the original ones - and still, in our view, the best - concern Articles 1c-1e, which forbid attempting to "damage or destroy facilities used for the purpose of producing, processing, or shipping food to a civilian population" outside of a very specific wartime situation. You would imagine that a resolution that, in its other places, repeatedly talks about the harm of destroying agricultural resources in wartime would tailor its provisions to wartime destruction, rather than the peacetime decommissioning of simple food distribution centres to the restaurant industry (for instance). It does not, lamentably.
