Statement Regarding Events In Greater Sahara

Statement From the Office of the Prime Secretary

To our allies, comrades, and friends,

After a period of discussion between Community Members within our region, I have determined it necessary to issue the closure of our embassy with The Communist Bloc. This was not an easy decision to make but it is one that the Presidium believes represents the best interests of Community and the will of our comrades here.

On the evening of 06/05/23, Greater Sahara was attacked and their World Assembly Delegate position was seized by a coalition of regions including The Communist Bloc. From the information gathered by the Presidium through discussions with involved parties, we understand that the individual that led the attack on Greater Sahara had been a dedicated member of their region for several weeks and had committed themself to positions within the Greater Saharan government. This was ultimately a cover for their true intentions of leading this attack. The time and care taken to subvert Greater Sahara's sovereignty prove that this was an unprovoked, premeditated attack on their government and their people. Among other acts of aggression, the attack resulted in the forceful closure of embassies between Greater Sahara and Community which was initiated by the aggressors.

Community has maintained embassies with both Greater Sahara and The Communist Bloc and we consider them both as friends. It has been the Presidium's aspiration to establish embassies with fellow frontiers alongside our fellow leftists. Admittedly, we have pursued this goal in ignorance of the greater ongoing political conflicts between many of these regions. It has been my position to refrain from involving Community in these conflicts, as I believe we do not have much to gain from our involvement. The Presidium was made aware of the tendencies of The Communist Bloc's general military activity previously, but because of our position and the desire to remain neutral, we had decided to look past this.

Though The Communist Bloc did not lead the attack on Greater Sahara, they did support it and through these actions supported the attempted destruction of our embassy with Greater Sahara. Additionally, our government was not contacted before or after this attack with an explanation. It was only after the Presidium contacted their delegation, did they provide insight regarding their actions. These are not the gestures of a friend. These acknowledgments combined with the worrying nature of the aggression against Greater Sahara and the expressed will of our Community Members have led me to make this decision. Community cannot ignore direct acts of hostility against its friends and embassy partners.

Finally, we are pleased to see the restoration of the Greater Saharan government's power in their region and we maintain our desire to strengthen our regions' friendship moving forward.

In Solidarity,

Marim grunzy
Prime Secretary & Delegate of Community
