Baseball!

Make sure to grab a vol de Rentrin i ast bun de frash (six pack of Rentrin, a cherry flavored cola, and a bag of fries) because we'll be looking at Oaterian baseball!

Bosebin, also known as Baseball, is the national sport of Oateria and its national pride. Statistics estimate that around 73% of Oaterians closely pay attention to their local baseball team, and only about 2% of the population don’t have a team they pay attention to whatsoever. This is compared to 27% of Oaterians paying close attention to hockey (hoski), and 14% paying close attention to Badgerball (bedgerbin). The premier form of baseball in the nation is the Oaterian Baseball League (OBL) who have 28 teams within the country:

Western Conference
Tashis Icebulls
Feltov Ghostwatch
Larcante Icebreakers
Dujeni Ironhearts
Banderviss Imperials
Vetrorin Conquest
Hiport Scouts
Oateria City Chariots
Dariotta Flashbacks
Andtoll Torches
Raziel Baseball Club
Zerdase Boulders
Raziel Renegades
Adreti Crokes
Mikksembri Mountaineers

Eastern Conference
Eskerit Comets
Tadpen Grove Toxin
Ineriblis Scarecrows
Popnes Paladins
Hannerchy Ambush
Yune Sea Lions
Arclick Bashers
Ketslar Youngbloods
Olagri Red Storm
Fitzoke Mods
Pragrani Hornets
Mes Roges Banshees
Wenbale Witch Doctors
Dunlay Energy
Chajun Wildmen
Vakum Gargoyles

Oaterian baseball is played heavily similarly to baseball worldwide, with the main differences being that the infield fly rule no longer is in effect, and the manager is called the “Strategist” (Stretigisi).

Some rivalries:

Feltov Ghostwatch-Tashis Icebulls

Geographic rivalry, Tashis is another name for West Feltov, while the Ghostwatch plays in the East of Feltov. As well as this, Tashis claims to be its own city while Feltov claims it as part of itself. The official stance of Oateria is that Tashis is a city in of itself, but many Feltov companies and citizens refer to Tashis as a borough. This is also not helped by the historically Oatserian Tashis and the historically Bander Feltov. Luckily, the main way of getting this conflict out is this rivalry.

Fitzoke Mods-Arclick Bashers

Mods-Bashers isn’t a rivalry that will matter in playoffs (both teams are usually early eliminations), but when it’s in town, it feels like game 7 of the Oatesier Cup. Both cities are known for their fairly hardcore and extreme culture, and both teams are known for being very violent and passionate. If you're going to a Mods-Bashers game, make sure to bring your camera- Arclick and Fitzoke have the highest amount of brawls between two teams in the OBL.

Wenbale Witch Doctors-Pragrani Hornets

A very historical rivalry, the Hornets and Witch Doctors is also very respectful, and the two teams have played the most games against each other in Oaterian sports history.

Currently the OBL is looking to expand into Rei Khan and Aerlanica but this remains to be seen if it's successful.

The 2022 OBL season ended with the Western Conference champion Adreti Crokes defeating the Eastern Conference champion Wenbale Witch Doctors for the Tojic Championship.

Western Conference MVP was Adreti Crokes 3B Rudjer Draskovic, Eastern Conference MVP was Yune Sea Lions 1B Zeljko Gavrilovic. 19 year old Jakub Valle, who before the season was an unknown rookie, shocked Oateria by leading the Larcante Icebreakers to a playoff run that wasn't expected, winning the Rookie of the Year award.
