Saint Thomas Christianity in South Kerala

Christianity, specifically Saint Thomas Christianity, is a widely practised and largest religion throughout South Kerala after Hinduism and Dravidian folk religion. It has dominated since the 2nd century AD, though it came much earlier in 52 AD. Saint Thomas Christianity is largely a sect of Catholicism but Orthodox bodies are also present. Small populations of the religion also exist in Neo Kerala though most have migrated to South Kerala.

History
Before the 2nd century, South Kerala was fully Hindu state just like the rest of the Indian Subcontinent. In AD 52, Saint Thomas the Apostle (one of the twelve disciples of Jesus) arrived in South India to the port town of Sephyrios (the Hellenized version of Mangalkavoor). He established 14 churches in: Kidaganagara, Kupoor, Tharicheri, Pullukunnu, Ithangadi, Jalampady, Dakshanadu, Madhukunnu, Nargayam, Lakhvrukshah, Kurdashi, Chaaranadi, Balal, and Mulam. It is believed that is was the first religion that came to South Kerala after Hinduism.
