Incan Religion: Viracocha

Viracocha in Incan religion and beliefs is said to be the Creator God, being the creator of humanity and everything else in the world.
He is typically personified as a man of medium height, white and dressed in a white robe like an alb secured round the waist.
However, what is said above usually varies per people and tribe, though in the capital city (Arequipa), a standard form had been agreed on.
Viracocha created the universe, moon, sun, stars, as well as time itself. He created time by commanding the Sun to move over the sky.
Inca legends related to Viracocha go as follows. Viracocha rose from Lake Titicaca during a great period of darkness in order to bring light to the world. Henceforth, he made the sun, the moon, and the stars. He also created mankind by breathing into stones. However, He was dissatisfied with his first creations who were brainless giants. Therefore, he destroyed his creations with floods (called Una Pachakuti) and made a new, better mankind with smaller stones. Viracocha eventually dissapeared into the great ocean, better known as the Pacific Ocean by walking on water and never returned. He wandered the Earth disguised as a beggar, teaching his new creations the basics of civilization, as well as numerous miracles to strengthen his peoples' belief in Him. Though, it is said that in times of troubles, Viracocha would reappear.

Viracocha had two daughters, Mama Quilla and Pachamama, as well as a son, Inti. After the great flood which destroyed the brainless giants, Viracocha saved two intelligent ones and shrank them to appear like his future creations. These two were Manco Cápac, the son of Inti, and Manco Cápac's spouse, Mama Uqllu ("mother fertility"). These two founded the Inca civilization as well as the Kingdom of Cusco and would rule for several years until their deaths. It is said in some legends though that Manco Cápac, nearing death was approached by Viracocha in peasant formed and was asked to slay the foul creatures of the Underworld (otherwise known as the lands southeast and south of Cusco) due to the fact that Viracocha could only use his powers in his Godly form and he could only do so if the Earth had experienced troubles. Viracocha also asked Manco Cápac to do so to prove that he was as great of a ruler as he had been during his time on Earth.
