Intro to the Moon, WA and Embassy policies etc.

Introduction to The Moon

The Moon is run by Founder Crazy girl (via puppet Parvani) and Delegate Sedgistan. Yes, we both happen to be NationStates site staff members. Hi.

The region isn't particularly active, and nor is it serious. So if you're expecting a thriving community with lots of chat, expect to be answering your own questions. But we do talk occasionally, and Moon-related puns are especially welcome.

It's not just us two here. There are various people with (often Moon-themed) puppets who have been around for years. One of them even has Regional Officer powers, because it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Embassies

We get lots of Embassy requests. Most of them we ignore. We currently have embassies with:

  • Regions CG and myself are historically associated with, e.g. San Francisco Bay Area.

  • Staff (or ex-staff) regions, like Space Sector RPRA and Katasia.

  • Regions whose names fit with the Moon's theme, sugh as Cheddar and The Great Universe.

We also appear to have an embassy with the West Pacific for some reason, but why not?

If your region fits into one of the above three categories, send us a request. If it doesn't, send us one anyway. We may or may not approve it - probably not. Lots of people want embassies with us just because we're mods, and we're not really into that.

World Assembly

Sedgistan (that'd be me) is the Delegate. It helps to remind me to check the proposal queues, vote on stuff, and just generall keep an eye on the WA. If you want to be Delegate, tough luck.

I approve most well-written Security Council proposals (when I'm not being lazy; that does happen), as well as most General Assembly proposals I'm telegrammed about. You're welcome to send me WA campaign telegrams; again it helps to remind me to keep an eye on things. If I haven't approved your proposal and you've telegrammed me, it could be because:

  • I haven't read it yet. Be patient.

  • There might be a legality issue with it. Note: I don't handle SC legality decisions any more, so don't take my approval as a sign a proposal is illegal, but if I am concerned a proposal is illegal, I may not approve it.

  • It's rubbish.

  • It's good but I strongly disagree with the proposal. This is quite rare, as I'm usually happy to see good proposals go to vote regardless, but sometimes this happens.

  • I find the author, co-author or someone else involved in the proposal to be insufferably annoying, and thus have no interest in promoting their work.

No, I'm not going to confirm why I didn't approve your proposal. You can assume it's because you're annoying, if you really want.

Sometimes I'll approve poor quality proposals anyway, usually because they're particularly funny, or do good stuff for dogs.

Invade Us

As a low-endorsement Delegate, we get invaded sometimes. As a general rule, The Moon welcomes invaders, and we've set things up so you can tag our WFE (please don't delete the existing stuff, just add a line or whatever), run a poll, pin a dispatch report and so on. If you want to stick around, we can appoint you as a Regional Officer to open a trophy embassy. Just leave your nation hanging around, and say hi on the RMB, and we'll make it so. You probably won't get Border Control though.

That's not to say that defenders aren't welcome. If you want to defend our region, go for it. Drinks at the Moon Bar are free for defenders only. Invaders pay double :P

We get "approval raided" sometimes. This can be mildly irritating, but we're not going to stand in your way if that's what you want to do. If I find your group/cause annoying, I'll probably never approve a WA proposal from your camp again, but that's rarely the case.
