Thegye Anniversary Tourney: ROUND 2!

Crowds flock to the tournament ring outside the castle, just to the north of the city. All around, banners, streamers, and colorful flags flap in the wind. Adults and children alike speak in excited tones, each one looking forward to the event to come. Jugglers, musicians, and jesters roam the streets, adding an air of jolliness and gaiety to the crisp air. From the taverns, shouts and songs can be heard from the early partyers, getting their fill of the cheap beer and, for the festive anniversary occasion, wine. At the ring itself, already the seats have begun to fill up, and the guests of honor begin to arrive. Soon, only standing room will be left for the onlookers. The trumpets sound the royal fanfare as the Diarchs make their way to their thrones, wrapped in the colors of the founding houses of Thegye. Seated, the Diarchs extend their hands and signal the beginning of the second day of the tourney. Let the best warrior win!

JERHINO vs. RAASHID

The two warriors enter the ring to loud cheering and applause. Each makes his way before the royal platform and bows deeply to the Diarchs. Then, at the signal of the referee, the fight begins.

Jerhino draws back his bow and loses a volley of arrows at the Almaazian, forcing him to stumble back, an arrow protruding from his thigh. Another attack pins Raashid's foot to the ground, causing him to cry out in pain. Two more arrows from Jerhino's bow strike Raashid, but both are glancing blows. Finally, as Jerhino fires once more, Raashid throws his spear. Unfortunately, he only scraped across the side of Jerhino, who's arrow glanced off Raashid's helmet with a clang. The Almaazian's eyes crossed for a moment and then rolled back up into his head. Jerhino from Noyistain wins, beating from Raashid of Almaaz!

LORD ZYTHE vs. KONSTANTIN V. RODZAEVSKY

The two warriors enter the ring to loud cheering and applause. Each makes his way before the royal platform and bows deeply to the Diarchs. Then, at the signal of the referee, the fight begins.

The first blow comes from Lord Zythe, who strikes out hard with his shortsword, cutting across Konstantin's chest and throwing him back. Roaring in anger, the Cothernite counterattacked, hacking at Zythe with his broadsword. Forced to jump back, Zythe received a deep gash on his left shoulder. Grimacing in pain, he batted aside another attack from Konstantin and sliced right across the Cotherinite's face. Screaming in pain, Konstantin fell to the floor and cast aside his weapon. Lord Zythe sneered derisively at him and greeted the cheers of the crowd. Lord Zythe, the contestant from Santa carina wheels wins, defeating Konstantin V. Rodzaevsky of Cothern!

JIHAM vs. THEOBALD OWSLEY

The two warriors enter the ring to loud cheering and applause. Each makes his way before the royal platform and bows deeply to the Diarchs. Then, at the signal of the referee, the fight begins.

The two warriors, evenly matched, warily circled each other. Taking small, tentative swipes at each other, they circled for a minute. Jiham finally attacked first, swinging his scimitar down hard. Theobald barely deflected the blow, which sliced across his arm, leaving a painful cut. The reverse strike cut from the Krotoi warrior cut into his thigh, causing Theobald to cry out. He tried to counterattack, but Jiham caught his saxe on his shield. Another attack by Theobald grazed across Jiham's jaw, drawing beads of blood. Knocking aside the saxe, Jiham lifted his buckler high and brought it crashing down on Theobald's bald head. The Hallowmossian crumpled to the ground, unconscious. Jiham, the contestant from Peraro Krotoik wins, defeating Theobald Owsley of Hallowmoss!

CATRID Á SAV vs. STEVEN JAJ

The two warriors enter the ring to loud cheering and applause. Each makes his way before the royal platform and bows deeply to the Diarchs. Then, at the signal of the referee, the fight begins.

Catrid, yet untested (her last opponent was confirmed to be roaring drunk), faces the unskilled but strong Steven Jaj. Rushing forward, Catrid swung her axes high to bring them crushingly down on Steven's head. However, the Thegyan calmly sidestepped the Maranthian's blind charge. Whipping up the end of his halberd, he swung it forward, striking Catrid in the face, squarely. The crack could be heard by all, garnering a loud "Oooo" from the crowd, followed by applause and cheers. Steven Jaj, the contestant from Thegye wins, defeating Catrid á Sav of Maranth!

DEFEATED BRACKET

YAKSIN CHEK vs. MISS CHANDRA II

The two warriors enter the ring to loud cheering and applause. Each makes his way before the royal platform and bows deeply to the Diarchs. Then, at the signal of the referee, the fight begins.

Yaksin, swinging his mace furiously, knocks aside Chandra's defense. She only has a moment to scream before the mace pounds solidly into her temple. She falls to the ground, her head leaking blood. Yaksin Chek, the contestant from Thegye wins, defeating Miss Chandra II of Paikauhale!

DYRYKE vs. PRINCO

The two warriors enter the ring to loud cheering and applause. Each makes his way before the royal platform and bows deeply to the Diarchs. Then, at the signal of the referee, the fight begins.

Dyryke, attempting to bring back his honor in this fight, rushes forward, bringing his khopesh down in a vicious strike that bites deep into Princo's arm. Another blow from the Indian's blade throws Princo back. Again, a slash to the thigh trips the German, who falls flat on his back. As Dyryke strikes down in a vicious finishing move, Princo thrusts up with his gladius, cutting the Indian's side. It is no help, for the German's chest is leaking blood all over the arena floor. Dyryke screams a challenge to the sky as the crowd applauds. Dyryke, the contestant from Lollerland wins, defeating Princo of Hyperico!

ISTILLIAN vs. PAN THE FISHERMAN

The two warriors enter the ring to loud cheering and applause. Each makes his way before the royal platform and bows deeply to the Diarchs. Then, at the signal of the referee, the fight begins.

Istillian swung his sword back and forth, testing out the balance once again. Pan, just a simple fisherman, eyed his opponent cautiously. Istillian suddenly runs forward and, catching Pan off guard, cuts a deep slice into his thigh. Falling to one knee, Pan screams out in pain. Istillian hacks deep into the Protectori's shoulder, causing more screaming. Raising his bastard sword high, Istillian brings it down, hard, severing Pan's screaming head from his neck. Wiping off his blade, Istillian greets the cheers of his new fans. Istillian, the contestant from Istillian wins, defeating Pan the Fisherman of The Great Protectorate!

MAX MOONSHINE vs. GEORGE WIDDLETON

The two warriors enter the ring to loud cheering and applause. Each makes his way before the royal platform and bows deeply to the Diarchs. Then, at the signal of the referee, the fight begins.

Max, clearly still drunk, lists to one side, barely able to stand up straight. George, stone-cold sober, stares confusedly at the character before him. Deciding to get in close, George sidles up to Max and raises his blade. However, the South New Zealander trips, falling face-first onto Max's resting hammer. Stunned and dazed, George scrambled to his feet and attempts to stab Max in the neck, but the drunk suddenly sways to one side. George misses and trips again. This time, he is slower to get back up. He falls back onto his rear and stares, in confusion, down at the blade, still in his hand, buried deep in his own chest. Max stumbles back, apparently suddenly aware of what is going on, and also looks very confusedly at George, who slumps over, dead. The crowd hesitantly begins to applaud. Max Moonshine, the contestant from Ellenburgwins, defeating George Widdleton of Second republic of south new zealand!

As the last contestants leave the ring, the crowd begins to disperse. Soon, the Diarchs rise, announce that the third round of the tourney will take place tomorrow morning, and depart for the ensuing feast. The rest of the crowd leaves, some heading home, others to parties, and still others to the taverns to celebrate wins or losses. All in all, everyone has enjoyed the second day of the tourney and many look forward to the events tomorrow!
