The Constitution
Preamble:We, the nations of the United Federation of Planets Alliance, do hereby assemble to create and ordain a new constitution to lead the region into a new golden age, and pledge to this our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honour.
Article I: The Executive
Section 1: The executive branch shall be headed by a president, who shall be elected on the first of the month by the people with a Vice President, with the Vice President maintaining the power to break ties in the Congress
Section 2: The President shall enforce the law, and to aid in enforcement shall have the power to issue Executive Orders, which shall have the full force of law
Section 3: The President may appoint a cabinet, including up to the following positions:
Secretary of State
Secretary of Defense
Secretary of Recruitment
Secretary of Roleplay
Secretary of the Interior
Section 4: The President may veto legislation proposed by the Congress
Section 5: The President shall have every permissions as granted by nationstates, and shall endeavor to create a way for smooth government communication, be that through forums, a discord, or puppet regions in which communication can be fostered through embassies.
Article II: The Legislative
Section 1: The legislative branch shall consist of a congress, with no less than 3 members, but with an additional Congressman for every ten citizens beyond 30 the region attains
Section 2: The Congress shall endeavor to pass legislation, and can do so with a 51% vote in favor of legislation.
Section 3: The Congress may also create motions, which shall serve to create governing rules for their body or request the government perform an action
Section 4: The Congress may override a Presidential veto or rescind an Executive Order through a 66% vote in favor.
Section 5: The Congress shall elect a speaker from among their body to serve as the arbiter for debates and to set the agenda. The speaker shall need a plurality of the vote, and shall retain his/her right to vote.
Article III: The Judicial
Section 1: The judicial branch shall be headed by a Supreme Court
Section 2: There shall be one justice for every 40 citizens residing in the region
Section 3: Justices shall serve for a period of life, except in cases of impeachment and removal from office
Section 4: Justices may interpret the law in cases brought to them
Section 5: Justices shall determine whether laws passed by the Congress or actions taken by the President are constitutional
Section 6: A justice may issue a judicial order, which shall require that a nation do something, which can be overturned with a 66% vote in favor in the senate.
Article IV: Balance of Powers
Section 1: Any official may be impeached once a case has been taken up by the Supreme Court, and that person is found guilty.
Section 2: To remove a government official from office, 66% of the senate must vote in favor after impeachment has been attained
Section 3: No President may serve as a Congressman or a Justice
Section 4: No Congressman can serve as a President or a Justice
Section 5: No Justice may serve as a President or a Congressman
Article V: The Rights of the Citizenry
Section 1:All citizens are guaranteed the right to petition the Senate or the President.
Section 2: All citizens are guaranteed the right to vote in a free and fair election for the President, and Congress.
Section 3: All citizens are guaranteed the right to freedom of speech.
Section 4: All citizens are guaranteed the right to file suit within the Supreme Court or to petition for an interpretation of legislation.
Section 5: All citizens are guaranteed the right to be considered innocent until proven guilty.
Section 6: All citizens are guaranteed the right to legal counsel by competent lawyers.
