FAQ: Interim administration? What does this mean? Is ASEAN closed?
- An interim administration refers to the state in which all regional institutions are suspended until further notice. Institutions that ceased activities included the ASEAN Government, the ASEAN Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), and the ASEAN Historical Society (AHS). Inter-regional partnerships and diplomatic missions are also put on hold at this time. Nations are welcome to visit and reside in ASEAN without restrictions as usual.
The Interim Administration was the direct result of disbanding the former Third Administration, as it was deemed unsustainable to maintain such an entity for an inactive region that has been on the decline since late 2017. In the event that ASEAN undergoes a revival, all regional institutions will resume activity, necessitating the creation of the Fifth Administration.
