Xagill Civil War - RP

Prologue - August 1049
As the centuries and decades goes by, decadence starts to creep in. With each King, mad of assassinations each become. Some are brave, others ruthless. We see some great kings, restoring power and glory to the nation. Many others are there for their own personal wealth.

We come to a situation in 1049, three years after King James XXI abdicated, in favour of his son, now King Alexander XXII. A name in the legend of kings, that should bring prosperity and wealth to the country. But all was squandered. His father too old, and himself too young, greed and power were too much for him. I guess this was the royal upbringing that he had experienced. The court was bare, many nobles sought shelter in their country estates.

His own family, especially his brother sought hiding from the monarch, surrounded themselves in the mountain palace, with a loyal retinue of Royal Guards, the best in the force. These were still loyal to the abdicated monarch, having served under him for his reign. This was trouble for the country...

Murmurings - May 1050
As greed and power went to his head, people were suffering, his decision making non-existent. Monuments of the old were decaying - unwilling to be fixed by the King. Instead, he built his monuments out of the most expensive material. He had money, saved up by his father and grandfather. The peace was starting to be broken. Rumours were starting to circulate around society.

These rumours started small; he would prepare a gigantic feast, just for the hell of it and criticize his cooks for not preparing it right in front of his guest. A second one was humiliating nobles that defied him with crimes that they did not commit like treason. These rumours spread quickly, throughout the country and as they did, the got more and more exotic to the point were it was humiliating for the king. As they got more exotic they spread like wildfire. This combined with the behaviour of the king, sought an unpleasant surprise for the citizens.

Many of these nobles were sympathetic to the cause of the common people, understanding how they provided the money for them in terms of work. Other nobles, on the other hand, were happy about this situation and took advantage of it, siding with the king. This caused even more distressed with the citizens, like undercharging them for their goods and making ridiculous profits.

The priests, on the other hand, were making as many offerings to the gods as they could, wondering when this tyranny would stop. They were not being provided with the money to upkeep these smaller temples in the other cities and the countryside. They were hoping for a change in fortune...

Drought and Declarations - November 1050
The rain had the come this year. This was the second year in a row. Those religious had blamed the gods - their prays and offerings had not pleased the gods. They were doomed in terms of food. Those practical saw the mismanagement of water in the past few years which had lead to this situation. There was only one person to blame: the King.

King Alexander XXII sent the following declaration:

As this news spread across the country, one of the first to hear about it was the royal family in hiding. They knew what was coming, they knew what they had to do. So they issued the following declaration:

Everyone knew what was coming. Civil War. This would not last, it was a tense time for the people of the country.
