Constitution of the Union of Saxon Justice

Articles of the Union of Saxon Justice:

Article I: The Right of Free Speech
Free speech of any sorts shall be every citizen's right, unless it causes a public disturbance, incites violence, or threatens violence against any non-enemy of the region.

Article II: The Right of Privacy

All law abiding citizens shall be given complete privacy in their daily lives. This means the government may not stalk any law-abiding citizens in any way, even if it is on a based suspicion. Non-law abiding citizens do not have this right. The government also cannot force any nation in the region to sign up on a forum or offsite chat, if your nation chooses to lead only using NationStates this region will respect that right.

Article III: The Rights of Government Authority

The Founder Oldenfranck and WA Delegate are the Executive Leaders these positions will have the sole authority of vetoing any decision given by a government official. Any veto can be overruled by a court ruling with the decision being made by the majority from the Judges. In the event that there is a government shut-down and all government official's resigned then Oldenfranck and or the WA Delegate may appoint an executive leader and other government officials if deemed necessary however if a nation uses Article IV the appointed executive leaders must abide and hold elections. Executive Orders can not revise the Constitution nor can they prevent an election, Executive Orders may be used in the event of an emergency to shut down the region's borders and if the founder approves it may also be used to remove a non-law abiding nation. The founder can strip executive rights from the WA Delegate if deemed necessary by the courts.

Article IV: The Right of Elections

All citizens, regardless of any circumstances, whether they be chosen or given, shall have the right to vote and if so needed may vote in a referendum to force an election of a certain position. Positions that are elected positions consist of the President of the Union, two Senators for Congress, and only two additional Judges along with the founder Oldenfranck acting as the Attorney General. Elections will occur on a 6 month basis with the first election in the beginning of January and the end of July.

Article V: The Right of a Fair Trial

All citizens, regardless of any circumstances, whether they be chosen or given, shall be provided with a fair trial which assumes the defendant as innocent until proven guilty. Citizens shall provide their own defense. All trials will be ruled by a Judge or Attorney General.

Article VI: The Right of Freedom

No citizen may be a slave or indentured servant to anyone else. Everyone always has the right to be free of any master. Jails may only detain citizens for one week without informing the citizen of the reason for the detention. Jails may not hold citizens for more than one week without a current conviction in place.

Article VII: The Right of Religion

All citizens, regardless of any circumstances, whether they be chosen or given, shall be allowed to practice and believe in their own beliefs, free from persecution, so long as it complies with the law.

Article VIII: The Right of Assembly

All law-abiding and harmless groups composed of citizens, shall be granted the right to assembly. This right shall never be infringed upon, and always held high.

Article IX: Regional Legislative Limits

All law-abiding members have the right to refuse to enforce legislation passed within the region that may affect there nation directly. (Example: If the region passes a legislative piece to ban marijuana than any member nation may refuse to enforce this in their own nation and cannot be prosecuted as every member nations Sovereignty is guaranteed).

Article X: The Rights of Referundums

Referundums can pass new legislation, change the regional constitution, change the flag, impeach government officials besides the founder and can also eject and ban nations. There must be three nations supporting a referendum in order for it to be a valid poll as long as it has a majority it will pass unless you are changing an article. In order to change an article, there must be a referendum and it must have 80% of the regions support in order to pass.
