Munting Ilog | About our Regional Calendar

Yes, we, Munting Ilog, have a regional calendar. But it doesn't use the original Gregorian calendar format. Instead, we use our own format.

Here's what our regional calendar is all about.

The days and the months of our calendar are the same as the Gregorian calendar's. The year is not the same as the Gregorian calendar, because we start with the year 1521. We chose 1521 because it is the year Ferdinand Magellan discovered the Philippines.

Yes, Taon is part of our regional calendar. The Filipino word 'taon' means year. It counts the years of our regional existence, e.g. If Munting Ilog has been existing for 5 years/1526, then it will be Taon 5. The Taon will proceed through the next Taon every March 28. Today, it is Taon 1.
