C O N T E N T S

1959. Spite between the Soviet Union and the United States of America is beginning to boil. The Cold War slowly becoming more tense, with Eastern and Western powers in a heated dispute over Berlin. Both sides turning their eyes to the stars, what does the future hold? A future of scientific advancement, with humans exploring the skies to an extent that was once never thought possible, or total nuclear destruction? Disregard what actually happened. Now, you decide the history of the world.

The following guide is for those wanting to get involved in our region. The following steps are strongly recommended:
  1. Join the World Assembly by clicking the link provided, checking the email attached to your nation, selecting the email confirming your acceptance and selecting the link within. Please note that any player may have no more than one nation in the World Assembly at a time.

  2. Join the official LinkSoviet Democracy Discord Server. This is where the members of our community come together to socialise, and where the government assembles and operates.

  3. Introduce yourself on the Regional Message Board. This is a public forum where any member of the region can come and chat. It's also great if you have any questions, just put it there and whoever sees it first will drop you an answer!

  4. New to NationStates? Got questions left? Try checking out this comprehensive NationStates guide, made by Amerion.

  5. Once you've done the above, you may like to consider participating in our regional Government. You can start off by Linkfilling out our job application.

Unsure or struggling with anything? Don't hesitate to send a telegram to Ex Patrian SSR.

Soviet Democracy Roleplay is based in the year 1965, in the height of the Cold War. Proxy wars tear through the world; Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Cuba... but what if it happened differently? We give roleplayers the opportunity to rewrite history, stage alternative proxy wars, new diplomatic crises - the possibilities are endless. Roleplaying takes place on the Regional Message Board, and members are free to do so from the perspective of a newspaper, a character, or their nation on the whole.

If you are representing another region and your administration desires to establish an in-game embassy with Soviet Democracy, the region in question must observe the following requirements:
  1. Must have at least 20 nations or 5 WA nations.

  2. WA nations must constitute at least 10% of the region's population.

  3. Must have a relatively active Regional Message Board/Discord server/Forum.

  4. Must not have the following regional tags: 'Fascist', 'Capitalist', 'Anti-Communist', 'Religious','Puppet Storage' or 'Anti-World Assembly'.

  5. Must be friendly towards or support leftist ideology, and have a leftist population.

  6. Must not hold embassies with recognised fascist regions.

  7. Must be willing to send an ambassador to the regional Discord server.

  8. Must not collect embassies without distinguishment or discrimination (embassy collecting).

Exemptions to the policy above may be made if agreed by the Foreign Affairs Commissar and President of Soviet Democracy. If your region follows all of the requirements above, you should go about establishing embassies with the following procedure:

  1. Telegram the Commissar for Foreign Affairs, the President, or the Founder about your region's desire to establish embassies.

    • Your telegram should include the following: The size, as well as the growth or decline rates of your region's population; the responsible officials and nominated diplomats responsible to Soviet Democracy; how establishing embassies would be mutually beneficial for our regions and finally a brief explanation of your region's system of governance and recent happenings.

  2. Wait for a response, and the official you have telegrammed will get back to you at the first possible opportunity.

  3. If regional officials are content with the establishment of embassies, you may send an official request, or let Soviet Democracy send a request for you. Attempting to request in-game embassies before proper procedure has been fulfilled will warrant automatic denial.

In the event that Soviet Democracy wishes to close your regional embassy, a relevant Government official will contact you in advance with the reason for closure. Potential reasons for closure may include falling out of line with the region's embassy policy, disorderly conduct by your region's members or actions deemed distasteful by Soviet Democracy officials.

The Soviet Democracy Endorsement Programme was officially introduced on June 10th 2018, as a campaign to increase the power and influence of both the region and the nations within Soviet Democracy. The base theory of the Endorsement Programme is that all nations concerned about their own influence, and the region's influence and safety should actively seek to endorse as many other WA nations in the region as they can. You can start on our Endorsement Programme right now by following the steps below!
  1. Seek out any WA nation in the region that you can find, such as Ex Patrian SSR, endorse them, and from there, begin to endorse the nations who are also endorsing them.

At the bottom of other WA member's pages (who are also in the region), you will be able to find an option to endorse.
  2. Try telegramming those you endorse to do the same to you! This is an effective way to gain endorsements for yourself, and pretty badges next to your nation.

  3. Once you're done, you reap the benefits! Endorsing other nations makes them much more likely to endorse you back, raising your endorsement and influence scores and badges (some of switch are shown above). Not only this, but some of our most prolific endorsers are awarded the Soviet Democracy Endorsement Programme Prize - which, despite its fancy title, is much easier to get than you'd assume. All you have to do to receive the award is continue endorsing nations!

Following the Endorsement Programme is absolutely the best way to become the region's World Assembly Delegate - and nobody will stop you! In Soviet Democracy, there is no endorsement limit, and no prevention for members taking over the Delegacy through hard-earned endorsements, so if this is your goal, start up the engines!

If you are not yet a member of the World Assembly, please join now! It's a very simple process which will take you only a couple of moments. If you have any issues or questions about joining the World Assembly, telegram Ex Patrian SSR.

The following rules must be adhered to by all users of the Soviet Democracy RMB, failure to do so will result in post suppression, or more serious action if deemed appropriate. The general theme of these rules is 'have common sense', something that should go without saying.

  1. Post meaningful content. If you're posting on the RMB your message should contain some degree of substance and meaning, as opposed to sh*tposting or memeing.

  2. Do not post more than two messages in a row. To keep a wide diversity in posts, and so it doesn't look like just one person is creating all of the activity on the RMB, we do not permit users to post three or more messages in a row. You are able to edit your original message(s) if there is something you missed.

  3. Be respectful of others and their opinions. We fully realise that not everybody agrees all the time, however starting flame wars on the RMB will not be tolerated. You're allowed to disagree but disagree respectfully.

  4. Do not do anything to attract moderator attention. When the NationStates moderators have to come and sort out an issue on our region's message board, it not only reflects badly on you, it reflects badly on the region as a whole. To avoid attracting moderator attention, the simple guideline as outlined in the One Stop Rules Shop is "Don't Be A Dick".

  5. Do not bait. Baiting is when you make a comment with the intention of angering another user or starting an argument, essentially trolling. Not only is this uncivilised and childish, but it's also against NationStates rules. Just please, be nice.

  6. Do not post anything that may be found offensive, threatening or concerning to other members. Any content of this sort is not acceptable; Anything you think may be borderline, you shouldn't post.

  7. Make an effort for grammar. We're not going to suppress your post for something trivial, like a comma where a semi-colon should be, but the standard of grammar you use should be reasonable, otherwise it reflects badly on the region.

  8. Do not recruit for other regions or external organisations. Absolutely none of this. If you want to recruit, you should do it the proper way like the rest of us. Violating this rule may result in banning from the region and being reported to the Moderators, as this is against NationStates rules.

  9. Do not quote a suppressed message. If a message on the board has been suppressed, it's been done for one of the reasons above. Unless it's completely necessary to your point and you're going to edit out the text which caused the suppression, you'll see your own post suppressed too.

To summarise these rules: Don't spam or make meaningless statements, don't post more than two messages in a row, don't recruit, don't quote violating messages and most importantly, be respectful.

Please note that the regional Discord chat has different rules and separate moderation standards, however, all guidelines can be clearly found within.
