The Democratic States of Urez is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its keen interest in outer space, ubiquitous missile silos, and aversion to nipples. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 2.447 billion Urezians are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

The large, corrupt, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Bisbee. The average income tax rate is 62.5%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The powerhouse Urezian economy, worth 200 trillion slats a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Tourism, Book Publishing, and Door-to-door Insurance Sales. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is 82,052 slats, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Selling your granddad's clothes requires an incredible amount of paperwork, sanitary products are sold in brown paper at hairdressers' salons, cash-strapped junkies lick rabbits for a cheap high, and babies are a small but significant export. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Urez's national animal is the Eagle, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Urez is ranked 44,478th in the world and 10th in Lily for Largest Governments, scoring 19.18 on the Bureaucratic Comprehensiveness Rating Scale Index.
