The Terren Imperial Navy (TIN)
Long before the Terren fatherland united under Emperor Luka, there were many great fleets of independent ships that would enforce law and order unto the seas and patrol between the islands that would one day become the heartland of the Terren Empire. These independent fleets would form the foundation of what would one day become the Terren Imperial Navy. The Navy is tasked with exerting Terren's influence throughout the world and protecting the Dominions various and massive internal trade routes. They are the largest naval force in the entire region and make use of impressive warships, bold marines, and valiant air forces to ensure Terren naval power is absolute. The Terren Navy has a great desire to adhere to tradition, especially in external ship design. While the ships appear to be constructed out of wood in a medieval design, Terren ships are in fact made out of specialized Ironbark trees which provide even greater durability to other nations modern steel. Many opposing captains have been caught off guard when these massive yet seemingly medieval ships tank blows form armaments that should have destroyed them, before unleashing their own devastating barrage of metal and steel.
The Imperial Navy's command structure is demonstrated below.
The Admirals of the Terren Imperial Navy are awe inspiring figures. Standing on the deck of a capital these awe-inspiring masters of the sea oversee their fleets with masterful precision. Those who make their way up to the rank of admiral are masterful sailors and the veterans of many ferocious sea battles, and most have become far more than mere commanders. Many admirals will personally lead boarding actions, charging ahead of their marines and inspiring the crew to greatness.
The Terren Empire has a truly massive navy, which allows it to completely control not only the waters around itself and its colonies, but also assist its allies in defending their coastlines as well. Each ship in the Imperial Navy is classified by 2 categories - its type and class. The ships type is a broad classification which tells you its size and crew compliment, as well as its general role in the fleet. Its class is a more specific explanation of its unique designs compared to the other ships in its type.
Each Ship type and class is detailed below.
The Terren Sky Cruiser are incredibly powerful warships and the personal flagships of the Lord High Admirals. They are one of only two ships within the Terren Navy that are not constructed in a traditional style, the other being the submarine. The Sky Cruiser is designed to fly above the ground using powerful engines and anti-gravity magics. The Sky Cruiser has many guns, and a reinforced hull and is the largest of all imperial vessels. Their base hulls are designed almost exactly like Capital Ships, equipped with the same amenities and weapons. However, Sky Cruisers tend to operate independently from the rest of the fleet, performing missions further abroad.

Capital Ships are the centerpiece vessels of the fleets which comprise a Directional Fleet. They are decked out with an impressive line of cannons and mortars as well as a massive siege engine on the main deck. It is often the size of a small city and is crewed by thousands of sailors and marines. The lower decks of a Capital Ship are outfitted with restaurants, bars, and theaters. During off hours many sailors from across whatever fleet the ship is stationed with will spend their free time enjoying the amenities aboard each Capital Ship.

Devastator Class
The Devastator Class Capital Ship is more heavily reenforced with extra armor.
The Ship of the Line is a massive warship armed with 5 heavy cannon lines and a reinforced hull. These ships are highly durable and designed to take large amounts of damage and overwhelm opponents with firepower. Despite being slightly smaller than their Capital-Type cousins, Ships of the Line are just as deadly, and are equipped with a much larger number of guns per deck. The hull is both heavily reinforced and enchanted with blessings from the Terren Orthodox Goddess Undine, granting them incredible durability.

Cassandra Class
The Cassandra Class Galleon is outfitted with the far more powerful Ubercannon, and an increased capacity, being equipped with 40 guns instead of 32.
The Imperial Submarines are a marvel of magic and steam technology. As vessels capable of transversing underwater, the submarine has a variety of uses. Attached to the hull is a reinforced battering ram used to destroy the hulls of ships, and a launcher designed to launch magically guided missiles. The 2 glowing orbs located in the back of the submarine are magically generated fireballs that are not able to be extinguished by water and act as a guidance system.

Nightmare Class
The Nightmare Class Submarine is a reenforced ramming machine, designed to approach a ship from below and split it in half with a precise strike.
The Galley is a compact light ship with very few guns. In naval combat, these small and highly maneuverable ships are responsible for transporting Marines to other ships and to the shore for amphibious assaults. The Galley has also recently begun to be used as a mobile carrier for Siren Marines to launch from. Occasionally the galley may be used as a temporary brig thanks to its large personal complement.

Harpiengrad Class
The Harpiengrad Class Galley is one of largest ship in the entire Imperial Navy and is used as a transport ship for a large number of flying warriors, from Siren Marines, War Hawks, Blackwings, and even Celestial Templar. The Harpiengrad Class, despite technically being a Galley, stand on relatively equal footing with most Ships of the Line and even some Capital Ships in terms of power and effectiveness. In addition to its 6 Deck Cannons the Harpiengrad Class is equipped with 12 Ubercannons, 2 Sea Mortars, and an extra deck.
The Schooner is the smallest class of Imperial warship. It is armed with only 1 swivel gun, but it would be a critical mistake to underestimate them. They are fast and very hard to hit, and their maneuverability allows them to hit a target hard from all angles and then retreat back when outmatched. They make great use of swarm tactics, and thanks to the blessings of the Goddess Sylph, these ships move with an almost supernatural speed making them a very difficult threat to counter. They are often deployed to protect trade vessels.

Lore:
The Terren archipelago has been a land of the seas since the era of the Elisfidite Empire and the sailors of Terren have not forgotten. Many of those who join the Imperial Navy are gripped by a fascination with the great oceans around the world and a desire to explore the unknown. Those who enlist in the navy often bring their families with them to live on their ships, or occasionally on a Capital Ship, if the ship assigned them is too small or dangerous. The rigor of the training received by each sailor is incredibly intense and has a high failure rate, but this training serves to ensure that each sailor is the best of the best.
Race: Karibdi
Soul-Bindings: Squids, fish, Feral Mermaids
Religious Affiliation: Elemental Orthodoxy
Doctrine: Hero Doctrine
Lore:
The Kraken Marines are the Navy's deck guard and amphibious strike force. They are highly trained and granted Soul-Bindings like their legionary brothers. The Kraken Marines were originally an elite off-shoot of the Depthgaurd tasked with deep sea missions. Eventually, they would leave the legion and become the official deck guard of the navy. The Kraken Marines have developed a reputation for their skills as both competent sailors and expert amphibious fighters. They also protect civilian trading vessels from pirates and the beasts of the sea.
Race: Harpies
Soul-Bindings: Squids, fish, Feral Mermaids
Religious Affiliation: Elemental Orthodoxy
Doctrine: Hero Doctrine
Lore:
The Siren Marines are the Navy's air force. The Siren Marines are mainly comprised of Harpies who grew bored of life on land and desired adventure on the high seas. Like the Kraken Marines, Siren Marines are granted Soul Bindings. Nicknamed the "deck-droppers" the Siren Marines will swoop over the decks of enemy vessels and drop explosives onto key points to disable the ship before landing on the deck and cleaning out any remaining resistance.
Much like their counterparts in the Reichsheer the Imperial Navy has a vast armory not only for its sailors but also for its ships. The Navy has invested a large number of resources in developing mighty war cannons which allow the fleet to dominate in most naval engagements, and as such have a large variety of naval artillery. Below is both the personal weapons of the sailors and marines and the ships weapons.
The Cutlass is a small light blade which is very easy to use in tight spaces, making it the ideal melee weapon for any and all imperial sea farers and the cutlasses is near ubiquitous presence among the Imperial Navy speaks for itself.
The Blackwell-Class Focus Rifle is a precision weapon which is designed to fire from extremely long distances. It has an accuracy range of about 1600 meters. It is the most accurate of the Imperial firearms and is a favored weapon of both harpies and law enforcement. It also can fire legendary armor piercing rounds can punch through about 1 whole meter of metal.
The Blunderbuss is a mighty short ranged weapon. It fires sprays of shot out in a wide arc infront of it, each shard cutting into the enemy with extream force. The guns power is famed, but many tend to underestimate its range. While it is preferably used at close range, the Blunderbuss can "clip" enemys from long ranges, and while these clips are not as fatal as a close range shot they can still be crippiling.
The Flintlock Pistol is smaller than most other firearms but it makes up for this with its flexibility. The pistol is easier to aim, quick to draw and requires less stability to fire, making it a favorite of naval soldiers and legionaries. It is also utilized as an emergency backup to make up for the long reload times of the other firearms.
The Deck Cannons are the standard naval cannons deployed on most small to medium sized ships. They have decent range and deal good amounts of damage, and are easy to maintain, making them ideal for use as the primary naval gun.
The Sea Mortars have incredibly long ranges and fire in wide arcs allowing them to strike at the decks of enemy ships. They are used as siege weapons allowing Terren vessels to launch long ranged artillery at their opponents from relative safety.
The Shredder Grapeshot Cannons are similar to their Deck Cannon counterparts in design, but instead of firing single cannonballs they launch exploding shrapnel which cuts through enemy ship and sailor alike. They can also fire Iron Bolas which wrap around enemy sails or monstrous sea beasts to immobilize them.
The Ubercannon is a reenforced version of the deck cannon which is utilized on larger Imperial vessels. Thanks to the Ubercannons stronger barrel it can launch larger superheated cannonballs which melt through enemy ships like butter. These guns are an improvement over the deck cannons in everyway except for their reload times which take significantly longer.
The Naval Great Cannon is a mighty long ranged artillery cannon which combines the strengths of the Deck Cannons and Sea Mortars. It has a longer range then the Deck Cannon and a higher destructive yield then the Sea Mortar although it does not surpass either of its cousins in their specialties.
The Swivel Gun is a relatively small and light weight cannon which has the least force or range of any Imperial cannon. Yet it makes up for this with its great mobility and aim ability, as well as its very fast reload speeds. These Cannons were constructed exclusively for use by Schooners.
Blackpowder Torpedoes are a marvel of imperial technology which are designed to be launched from underneath the water, using a great burst of speed before detonating in a massive blackpowder explosion. Deployment of such weapons is a very precise thing, as they are very slow moving and precise calculations of distance and trajectory are necessary for these weapons to be used effectivly.

Bounties
One of the most exciting moments for any and all imperial sailors is looting the spoils of war after a victory. Once a vessel has been disabled and its crew defeated or imprisoned the crew of an imperial vessel is free to loot the and pillage the enemy ship. Yet this looting is not unrestrained. An enemy ships bounty is distributed strictly according to a well-established system of shares. Each member of a ships crew is entitled to a share of the wealth, with the size and number of shares being related to your rank and number of years serving within the navy.
Captain's Log
During each voyage of an imperial vessel, weather military or civilian, the captain is required to keep a long and detailed activity log which describes every day of the ship, including crew activity, unusual observations, and geographic sketches. These logs serve a verity of different purposes, and they are vital for recreating the ships journey, understanding how a ship was damaged or lost, cataloging data for study, and it is also very important for insurance purposes, allowing insurance companies to determine eligibility. Of course, with so many ships in the Terren Imperial Navy the quality of logs can be incredibly varied. Some captains write incredibly detailed and accurate logs, while others write their logs as quickly as possible, and yet still others use their logs to embellish their personal accomplishments and undermine their rivals to accumulate imperium.
Peacetime
The Terren Dominion, like all of the members of the Imperial Union of Order States, is nearly constantly under threat, yet like the tides conflict ebbs and flows and many ships within the navy will take on peace time duties. The galleons are frequently commissioned as trade and transport vessels, but the other ships in the fleet will take on other duties. Schooners can act as search and rescue for missing vessels, Harpiengrad Galleys serve as bases for exploration crews, and Galleys may serve as science vessels.
Not every beast of war is utilized by the IAT. Thanks to the efforts of the Bio-Lords of Karibdimar and the powerful sorcery of the Abyssal Sea Witches the Imperial Navy has access to its own menagerie of beasts and animal companions which accompany them both during peace and war. These creatures can range from companions and helpers, to oceanic horrors which are feared across the nautical world.
Habitat: Forests, Jungles
Diet: Omnivore
Temperament: Loyal, Curious, Mischievous, Intelligent
Powder monkeys are intelligent trained Simians which were discovered and subsequently captured by the imperial Navy during its early expeditions into the colonial territories. These creatures are intelligent and were successfully trained to haul black powder across the ship delivering it to those who are manning the cannons as well as those using their guns, allowing the entire crew to be constantly topped off in a fight no matter what was going on. The Powder Monkey’s ability to climb means that it also is extremely skilled at navigating the rigging of the ship.
Habitat: Forests Jungles
Diet: Vegitarian
Temperament: Loyal, Curious, Mischievous, Intelligent
The parrot is also a recently found and captured creature from the colonial territories, and these intelligent birds have begun serving as companions and occasionally spies for the captains and high-ranking officers of an imperial vessel. These birds know how to identify objects and can communicate contraband items that they have noticed in the possession of the crew to their owners. In combat they can also be used to determine the weapons and composition of the enemy's crew and ship, a very useful tactic for engaging pirates.
Habitat: Oceans
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Docile,
The Kreigwhale is a massive and mostly docile animal yet their importance to the navy is difficult to understate. Thanks to their incredible size and strength they are able to keep most oceanic predators at bay, providing a relatively moderate amount of protection against unexpected attack. Yet in combat their great size means they can often ram straight through enemy vessels and tear them in half. Sometimes Kreigwhales are used to tow damaged ships back to friendly ports.
Habitat: Oceans
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Aggressive, Territorial
The Driskrab is a moderately large and heavily armored crab, which is mainly used during amphibious assaults and frequently accompanies the Terren Kraken Marines and serves as a highly durable combatant. The Driskrabs claws are strong enough to rend metal and break bones and they are very difficult to bring down with conventional weapons.
Habitat: Oceans
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Aggressive, Mindless, Obedient
The Bio-Horrors are specialized genetically mutated monsters forged in the flesh laboratories of Karibdimar. These monstrous abominations are biologically engineered to be as powerful and as deadly as possible, as well as completely loyal and obedient to instructions given to them. Recently the Bio-Lords i’ve begun working with the imperial college of engineers to enhance these monstrosities with hydraulically powered mechanical enhancements allowing them to become even more deadly than before. The creation of these creatures is a Holy act in the eyes of the Karibdi, and only admirals who have gained their trust will be permitted to use them.
Habitat: Oceans
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Aggressive, Loyal
The Höllenkalmar by far and away the largest monster that Terren has ever managed to successfully tame. These colossal monsters are the crown jewel of the Terren Navy and only a few of them have ever been tamed each time at great cost. Yet once tamed the Höllenkalmar proved to be surprisingly loyal, and their power is unmatched throughout all the world's oceans. When these great beasts are brought to bear there is little hope for the empire's enemies.
The Heroes of the Terren Imperial Navy are less numerous and less diverse than their compatriots in the imperial army, but their power is no less impressive. These champions accompany imperial fleets in their expeditions and utilize their amazing power to overwhelm the enemies of Terren at sea. These heroes not only service military champions and combat specialists but also as escorts for trading vessels, bodyguards for imperial explorers and occasionally as pirate hunters should imperial ceilings come under attack from lawless raiders and scallywags. The heroes of the Navy are not necessarily bound to fighting on the open ocean and many will take contracts from the fighters guild and form adventuring parties with the terrestrial-based heroes of the army, although it is undeniable that they are at their strongest in the open ocean. Below are the two primary hero classes of the Terren Imperial Navy
Abyssal Sea Witch | Tide Lord | Privateer |
The Abyssal Sea Witch is a powerful spellcaster in service to the Imperial Navy. Unlike the state sanctioned sorcerers produced by the Imperial Colleges of Magic the Abyssal Sea Witch utilizes deep and primal sea magic, twisting the powers of the water to unleash torrents of acidic brine spectral tentacles and even call upon twisted beasts of the sea. Their bodies are warped and mutated by the magics they wield, and their forms are often marked by swaths of wriggling pulsating tentacles. This twisted magic is an extremely powerful tool, yet Sea Witches Are often looked at with fear and distrust by their comrades, although the witches seem not to mind this suspicion much, being content to use their dark magic for their comrades before slipping beneath the waves
| The Tide Lord are the quintessential champions of the Imperial Navy. These champions of naval combat are blessed with the ability to move across the top of the water with immense speed. This combined with their immense durability and power means that the Tide Lord can act almost like they are ships in and of themselves. These heroes will fight serve as vanguards for the fleet, or as escorts for merchant and explorer ships, moving ahead and using their speed and comparatively small size to scout ahead and eliminate threats before the navy even encounters them. The Tide Lord may also rig themselves up with ships parts or even use a ships cannon as their weapon of choice.
| Privateers are inspiring leaders and supportive heroes who use their charisma and vast seafaring knowledge to ensure the warriors and ships of the navy are fighting at full capacity. Privateers may serve as the captains of their own ships or move from ship to ship in a fleet, all according to their whims. In battle the Privateer uses provides buffs and moral boosts to their allies while simultaneously fighting as possessed madmen using a verity of underhanded tactics and enexpected surprises to keep the enemy disoriented.
