The Federal Republic of Soclania is a colossal, cultured nation, ruled by PM Nicolas Papandreou with a fair hand, and renowned for its fear of technology, state-planned economy, and frequent executions. The hard-nosed, democratic, humorless, devout population of 7.136 billion Soclanians enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

The large, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Industry, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Onerupol. The average income tax rate is 70.1%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Soclanian economy, worth a remarkable 1,126 trillion Euros a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, fairly diversified black market in Book Publishing, Tourism, Uranium Mining, and Woodchip Exports. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an impressive 157,820 Euros, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.3 times as much as the poorest.

The media seems excessively interested in what PM Nicolas Papandreou is wearing this season, modelling agencies send their clients to work in nursing homes, traumatised refugees have a full bedpan shoved into their hands along with their immigration papers, and RPG fans reminisce fondly about when people thought they were evil and dangerous rather than geeky and socially inept. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Soclania's national animal is the Socratian White Deer, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is there is no national Religion.

Soclania is ranked 87,410th in the world and 536th in Europe for Most Extensive Civil Rights, with 67.83 Martin Luther King, Jr. Units.
