Great Houses
Towards the end of the Seventh Era, also known as the Warring Era, most of the Great Houses had perished after centuries of ongoing conflict and war between the different factions. Only a few houses survived while smaller and newly established houses saw the light of day in the new Imperial Eighth Era.
House Aertaris (imperial house): When High Lord Vanor Aertaris crowned himself emperor, it was not only the beginning of a new era, but also the end of a time with countless noble families fighting for territory and power on the planet. An old house of the Fifth Era, House Aertaris was for a long time a minor player in the larger game of power, often caught between stronger forces or indebted to others. Towards the end of the Seventh Era, however, the house managed to turn the tide to their favor, and gain an eternal place in history.
House Caanra (old house): House Caanra, founded in the Fifth Era, is a great house that chose to support House Aertaris in Vanor Aertaris' fight and dream for supremacy. A huge gamble which fortunately paid off beyond expectations. The house has ever since held significant positions at the Imperial Court and in the Imperial Commissariat.
House Valreos (old house): House Valreos, a great house that first arose in the Sixth Era, but which quickly rose through the ranks among the great noble families thanks to, among other things, their resource-rich territories and their cunning ability to exploit their wealth and specialty for trade and industry. The house put their money on House Aertaris and has benefited from this investment ever since.
House Val-Itani: Val-Itani, a branch of the great house of Valreos, arose at the end of the Seventh Era, also known as the Warring Era, and became an independent house, although closely connected and committed to Valreos. Val-Itani is best known for the powerful Val-Itani Industries, which through lucrative imperial industrial contracts have become very rich.
House Lennis: House Lennis, has for most of the house's short history been a vassal or subject to other more powerfull houses, but towards the end of the Seventh Era, the former lord of Lennis, Zetor Lennis, succeeded in taking the highest position in the Church of Light, Archbishop of the holy city, Entioch. This new position of power Zetor used to elevate his house, and by supporting Aertaris's "holy mission", House Lenni reached new heights in the grand "holy" Imperial Era.
House Celennos: When Edgarth Celennos, as general of Vanor Aertaris, won a major battle, he was rewarded with territory and appointments, and in return gave absolute loyalty to the future emperor.
House Norton: The current lord of House Norton, Desmund Norton, the Star Marshal of the Imperial Starfleet, comes from a long family tradition of military officers. The founder of House Norton, Ferkir Norton, achieved his status after he in battle defeated and killed Tharkal the Brutal, Lord of the Great House of Burennis. This event drew Norton and Aertaris, a rival of Burennis, closer together.
House Cantell: House Cantell owe its position in the imperial rule due to the house's decision not to support the Great House of Laeria, but instead to provide significant intelligence to Aertaris in their conflict with Laeria.
