The People's Commune of Dawsinian is a gargantuan, efficient nation, ruled by Denth Kasten with an even hand, and notable for its deadly medical pandemics, ban on automobiles, and sprawling nuclear power plants. The hard-nosed, humorless population of 17.967 billion Dawsinians are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The tiny, corrupt, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Healthcare, and Environment. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Town's End. The average income tax rate is 1.2%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The thriving Dawsinian economy, worth a remarkable 3,030 trillion Pound Sterlings a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized black market in Information Technology, Retail, Gambling, and Book Publishing. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an impressive 168,643 Pound Sterlings, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

You're never too young to learn how to lie with confidence, ministers are now allowed to put suggestions in the governmental suggestion box, power stations shutting down at night has made bedtime reading tricky, and funeral directors are frequently looking at their watches during funerals. Crime, especially youth-related, is all-pervasive, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. Dawsinian's national animal is the Duck, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution.

Dawsinian is ranked 8,427th in the world and 26th in Wintreath for Most Scientifically Advanced, scoring 434.57 on the Kurzweil Singularity Index.
